600A Deadbreak Elbow Connectors and Accessories provide an easy way to terminate cables and equipment and splice primary cable at 15/25/28kV and 35kV. The 600A Elbow is fully shielded and features a bolted connection in either aluminum (600A) or copper (900A). Accessories are available for insulating, testing, grounding and circuit expansion.

The design of the 600A 3M™ Cold Shrink Deadbreak T-Body eliminates the extra interface between the adapter and body. Its silicone material provides a good interface along cable sweeps with excellent resistance to temperature extremes, chemicals, and UV radiation. The direct grounding system eliminates the bleed wire and provides a strong ground connection to the body as well. All bodies are 100% factory tested.
3M’s proven cold shrink technology allows for a quick and easy installation by removing the need to wrestle with adapters and bodies to force components into position. This T-body design easily fits over the lug and aligns onto the cable jacket, improving installation speeds and reducing cross-thread risks by making the lug alignment process easier.
The one piece design of the 3M™ Cold Shrink T-Body means that there are fewer components to stock and install. The need for cable adapters and separate environmental seals is also eliminated with this design.

The R-stack is a 600A elbow with a connecting plug molded directly into the elbow body. This design offers a more reliable, easier-to-install option at a competitive cost. Its smaller stack height (four inches for every two elbows) is invaluable in small cabinets and service tunnels. The benefits of installing R-Stack include:
■ No risk of field contamination of connecting plug and elbow interfaces due to the built-in molded connecting plug
■ Each R-Stack is 100% factory tested; deadbreak elbow and molded connecting plug tested as a unit

The 35kV 600A R-Stack Surge Arrester (63RSA) is an elbow surge arrester with a connecting plug molded directly into the new body. The 63RSA is designed to protect medium voltage equipment and underground cable from voltage surges caused by lightning and switching transients.
The 63RSA utilizes gapless metal oxide varistor technology in a fully shielded, fully submersible peroxide-cured EPDM rubber housing. The 63RSA has a captive fastener which allows for easy installation on standard 35kV 600A apparatus bushings that meet IEEE Std. 386. The pre-installed 42” #4 AWG braided copper ground lead reliably carries current to ground during voltage surges.
1. R-Stack 35kV 600A Deadbreak Male Interface: Rather than installing a connecting plug in the field, the R-Stack Arrester comes with this male interface molded directly into the elbow body.
2. R-Stack Fastener: The R-Stack Fastener rotates in place and engages the stud on the bushing. The fastener is rotated using a 3/8” wrench – included in every R-Stack Arrester Kit.
3. Metal Oxide Varistor (MOV) Disk Column: The disk column assembly consists of MOV disks stacked together and wrapped in fiber. This gapless design ensures consistent and reliable performance.

The 600A elbow and 200A tap plug are molded together into one convenient unit. Reliability is improved, by eliminating the risk of sweat, dirt, water or other contaminants getting onto the interface during installation.

DEADBREAK JUNCTIONS
The bolt has been tightened to the proper torque using the assembly tool. The insulating cap is installed. The installation is complete.
The lug/cable assembly is inserted into the R-800 and pushed into position. The assembly tool is inserted through the 200A interface and engaged in the bolt. Note the bolt is in the recessed position.
FIRST STEP SECOND STEP LAST STEPThe bolt is now pushed through the lug hole into the forward position. The bolt will sway in the forward position holding the lug/cable assembly in place.

Disconnectable Joints are designed to provide maximum circuit flexibility in a small operating environment. These compact Splices are available in I, Y, H, and U styles to accommodate many different cable configurations. Accessories are also available for circuit expansion, isolation, and grounding.
The Sleeve Restraint feature is part of an innovative design to add safety to the joint. The Spiking Stem is a special accessory designed for use with Disconnectable Splices. For utilities that “spike” to verify a circuit is de-energized, this accessory makes the process simple and cost effective. The Stem protrudes only a small length from the end of the Sleeve, preserving the compact, low-profile nature of the Disconnectable Splice.
