Local Funding

The Local UFA charges local schools for educational services based on UFA national price structure. The

UFA then charges the local unit a licence fee at 10-15% income achieved from

delivery. The local Unit can also be part of local and national joint

bidding for funding and the charitable status can open

up opportunities to a wider range of

potential funders.

Local Business UnitIf you would like to set up and run UFA programmes in your area and would also like to benefit from marketing, admin and finance services and be supported by UFA policies and procedures then you might be interested in being a UFA Local Business Unit (LBU). An LBU’s core purpose is to develop the UFA in a local area/region delivered through self-employed UFA trained and approved staff. Staff use the processes, systems and procedures of the UFA and work within its Charitable Objectives. This structure will enable the Local Business Unit to benefit as part of the charity and offer UFA programmes.

Local Delivery OrganisationIf you are already an organisation delivering programmes to schools and community organisations and would like to offer UFA programmes as part of your menu then you might be interested in being a UFA Local Delivery Organisation (LDO). A LDO has its own core purpose which is closely aligned to the UFA but has its own policies and procedures. This delivery model enables an existing organisation to hold a Service Level Agreement to offer UFA training and programmes in an agreed geographical area.

The benefits:An opportunity to be involved in an exciting new concept in delivering the UFA includes:

• A professional relationship with a charity with a proven track-record in high quality learning.

• Support from the market leader with a highly respected reputation and a strong brand image.

• A range of programmes and training.

• A huge market potential.

Additional benefits of an LBU:

The LBU will be able to use our established and proven business system; you will still be running your own enterprise. Unlike a stand-alone business however, you will have the backing of a successful organisation behind you, helping you all the way including:

• A business support package including managing contracts and invoices for your schools/customers.

• Access to a unique operational system.

How it works

StaffingYou will either be freelance,

managing and delivering your own work load or already employed by an

organisation who are then taking on UFA programmes as part of their offer to schools. All trainers who

deliver UFA programmes are approved and trained by the UFA ensuring high quality programmes

and learning experiences.

EvaluationLocal Units use UFA’s

evaluation of training and impact data collection process for adults and young people. This data will be collected on a national

basis enabling the local unit to also have access to national comparatives. The evaluations from training sessions with adults will be jointly reviewed

to ensure the training delivery meets the needs of the local

customers and UFA’s standard.

BrandingBuilding a sense of belonging

is an important core principle of the UFA. It helps adults and young people belong to something locally and nationally.

The logo represents our values and young people come to know that UFA experiences offer them high challenge and low threat environments and a

place where they will be unconditionally respected by adults and peers. Local units will be able to benefit from using the UFA in their organisation name and all training for adults will be branded UFA

and use UFA certificates. UFA experiences for young people will also be branded UFA

and will follow the UFA Awards scheme.

Geographical coverage

The UFA has not set out to establish unique geographical areas with territorial limits assigned but is prepared for local units to set out

their requests and we will work to ensure there

is no overlap with other units.

TrainingTraining is provided to enable the

UFA programmes to be delivered to meet high standards and consistency across areas.

Attendance at a UFA Train the Trainer programme is required to provide a background to UFA training processes, principles, evaluation and quality standards.

Additional training is provided to support the delivery of individual programmes, this can

also be achieved through co-delivery to your schools. The UFA will

provide coaching or shadowing where appropriate to ensure trainers are

confident with the programmes.

CopyrightAll UFA programmes are the intellectual

property of the UFA and can not be changed or used under

another name as a result of becoming a Local Unit.

Programmes offered

UFA offers a wide range of training programmes for adults and UFA experiences for young people. All programmes are available

to local groups subject to agreement on training and

resources required.
