Moving Britain Ahead
The big picture….
3June 15
One nation. One United Kingdom.
A one nation Government acting in the interests
of the whole country.
We will ensure that every part of Britain benefits from
a growing economy and that everyone who works
hard gets the opportunities they need to succeed.
History of under investment in infrastructure and
parts of our transport network are now full.
We are investing to make journeys better: simpler, faster
and more reliable. Our plan will support jobs, enable
business growth, and bring our country closer together.

The Department should use the
way it allocates its funding to
incentivise efficiency and
collaboration and it should not
fund poor performance.
The Department should identify
those local highway authorities
that carry out maintenance less
efficiently and target the
Highways Maintenance
Efficiency Programme at them.
