It was inspired by the historic Company’s Garden in Cape Town, which supplied sailing ships of the Dutch East India Company with fresh fruit and vegetables back in the day when the Cape was a halfway station between

Europe and Asia. But we also link back to the mythological hanging gardens of Babylon, thought to have been created in the sixth century BC by Nebuchadnezzar, for his wife who longed for the mountains and valleys of her youth. Outdoor areas available for location productions include the

garden, 200 hectares of the farm.

The rustic Wheat Barn allows for a darker mood set by wooden floors, exposed stone walls and exposed thatch ceiling.

Characterised by its white floor, white roof and white walls, this light and airy space is an exceptional canvas for the creative soul.

The location fee includes both the Wheat Barn and White Studio.A maximum of 25 people on set is allowed within this area.

Some of the existing farm buildings on Babylonstoren were

transformed into sophisticated guest accommodation. At

the Farm Hotel, the overall effect is relaxed yet well heeled.

There are six one-bedroom suites, as well as three one-bedroom cottages and four two-bedroomed cottages. The one- and two-bedroom cottages have a

lounge area and basic kitchen.

In addition, we also have nine one-bedroom Farmhouse suites. All of these have access to an outdoor swimming pool and a hot spa area that includes a salt room, sauna and vitality pool as well as a lounge area. Only still photography shoots are

possible within this area, with a maximum of 6 people on set.

All locations are subject to availability and the final programme must be sent to us three days prior to the shoot.

You will be responsible for your own means of transportation of equipment on the farm. Vehicles can offload equipment closer to the shoot location and would need to be parked in the

designated area, as indicated by the Babylonstoren co-ordinator on the day of the shoot.

The Production Company is required to provide proof of insurance for full public liability, which covers personal injury as well as third-party property breakages or damages on set. Any damages that occur to the location and/or its content ‘from the commencement of the

shoot through to post-production,’ is the responsibility of the Production Company/Client. The Production Company/Client will be held liable for such damages. The Production Company/

Client is responsible for any excess on their insurance policy. By booking a location with Babylonstoren, the Production Company indemnifies the location owner and Babylonstoren against any damages, loss, injury or death with regard to any crew member or guests during

the shooting period.

A standard 10 hours for a full day and 5 hours for a half day is applicable. Maximum overtime allowed is two hours at R2000 per hour.

No shoots are permitted in any indoor area not listed here.

On confirmation of a booking, Babylonstoren will provide the Production Company with any rules pertaining to the shoot location. The Production Company is responsible to ensure that the

production managers are aware of the location rules and that these are respected.

The use of a music system is strictly prohibited.

No location furniture or appliances may be used during the production, unless prior approval has been granted by Babylonstoren. We suggest that the team takes photographs of the relevant shoot

area prior to commencement of the shoot. This will help with the correct replacement of furniture and appliances once the shoot has been completed.

Lighting equipment for stills shoots includes a camera, grips and lighting package. Babylonstoren must be notified of any additional equipment that may impact on the location. No generators are

allowed in close proximity to any parking areas, restaurants, hotel rooms or garden pathways.

Prices are quoted in South African Rand (ZAR).

Prices are inclusive of 15% VAT and are valid

until 31 December 2019.

The full location package fee is required as deposit. Payment can be made by direct deposit, EFT or credit card. By paying a deposit, you automatically indicate your acceptance of Babylonstoren’s

policies regarding payment, cancellation and postponement. A provisional reservation is only confirmed once proof of payment of the deposit has been received. Babylonstoren reserves the right

to cancel a booking should payment not be received as stipulated. Prices are subject to change without prior notice. The final bill is payable at Reception before leaving the farm. Please note that a

late payment fee will apply if payment has not been made before leaving the farm.

The notice period for the cancellation of confirmed bookings depends on the number of days booked. For example, if a client books a location for two days, the cancellation must be done more than 48 hours prior to the first date of the booking. If the booking is cancelled within this prescribed notice period, a 50% cancellation fee will apply for the entire booking period that is

being cancelled. Should a confirmed booking be cancelled within the specified time before a shoot, and Babylonstoren is unable to re-book the Location, a cancellation fee of 50% will be charged. If

the date(s) can be resold, a cancellation fee of 25% will apply. Should the team not arrive on set for the day that the shoot was booked, a 100% cancellation fee is applicable.
