0 God, we pray for Thy Church, which is set todayamid the perplexities of a changing order, faceto face with a great new task# We remember T-iithlove the nurture she gave to our spiritual lifein its infancy, the tasks she set for our growingstrength, the influence of the devoted heartsshe gathers, the steadfast power for good she hasexerted.
VJhen we compare her with all human institutions,we rejoice, for there is none like her.
Fill her with the prophet's scorn of tyranny, andwith a Christlilce tenderness for the heavy-ladenand downtrodden. Bid her cease from seeking herown life, lest she lose it,
M^e her valiant to give up her life to humanity, that like her crucified Lord she may mount bythe path of the cross to a higher glory.
