1. Installation of IIS Role in Windows Server (2008R2 or later Operating System)

Please install the required role of IIS in Windows 2008R2 or later Server Operating System. That can be done by navigating to Server Manager => Manage => Add Roles and Features

In Server Roles please check all features except CGI under Web Server (IIS) => Web Server => Application Development Please verify that you have the latest version of .net 4.6 on your server after installing IIS. 2. Installation of Web Deploy in Windows Server (2008R2 or later Operating System)

3. Installation of LOD Data Gateway (Step 1 of 8)

First please create a directory that will hold LOD GW files in your file system (Preferably under C:\Inetpub\LOD GW)

Please open IIS Manager (Click [Window Key] + R and in the command prompt type inetmgr and press Enter) Create a New Web Site with Site name LOD GW that has the previously created folder (C:\Inetpub\LOD GW) as Content Directory (Physical path). For IP Address and Port please leave All Unassigned and 8083. (You will need to create a port redirection in your Router and also create a Rule in Windows Firewall to allow traffic to that port)

Right click on your LOD GW Website and from option Deploy => Import Application, select the zip file that contains the latest version of the LOD GW Application. Click the LodDataGateway_LatestVersion.zip file and Open.

The LOD Data GW Package is now selected. Please click Next.

In this dialog you need to setup the parameters of LOD Data GW Application. Please leave the Application Path as is and change the Gateway password and DataSql-Web.config Connection String as instructed in the sibling notes. For SQL information please see the following pages (12-13-14). For Gateway password please create a very strong password using a GUID generator website or an SQL query. You can use query "SELECT newid()" in SQL Server to get a GUID, or use online: https://www.guidgenerator.com/online-guid-generator.aspx

4. SQL Server Security Setup

Please login as administrator to the SQL Server that LOD Data GW Application will read data from and create 2 new logins. The first login is a db_datareader account that will be used on Installation of LOD Data Gateway (Step 7 of 8), the login name could be lodmobile_read. The second login is a db_datawriter account that will be used later when we need to create (or alter) the views LOD Data GW is using to retrieve data from your database, the login name could be lodmobile_sa.


5. LOD Data Gateway Setup (Step 1 of 4)

Please browse this url: http://localhost:8083/loddatagateway You will need to create (register) a new user account for your client’s domain. This login will be the administrator of the LOD Data Gateway for that domain. LOD Platform will only accept private domains and not public e.g. google.com, live.com etc. The registration process will send a verification email and your client need to reply in order to activate the account.

Please browse this url: http://localhost:8083/loddatagateway and login using the email and password you created in the previous step. After successful login to LOD Data Gateway configuration website you will need to enter the information about LocalUrl and ExternalUrl. Please enter the correct information in the format: http://localurl:localport/LodDataGateway and http://externalurl:externalport/LodDataGateway. All other information is already filled and you don’t need to change them.

Please browse this url: http://localhost:8083/loddatagateway and login using the email and password you created in a previous step. If there is a new version available please enter Username and Password of a local (or DOMAIN) administrator (1,2) and click on [Install update] button (3). Please Log out (4) and login again to use the new version of the application.

After successful login to LOD Data Gateway configuration website you will need to click SQL setup tab and enter the information of the SQL datawriter account you created in the SQL Server Security Setup (1 and 2). Next you need to click on the checkbox (3) located at the header row of the SQL Views list and using the button [Create or alter selected views] (4) finish the setup of LOD Data Gateway.
