    Training of bachelors, specialists and masters in Environmental Science is carried out at 105 higher educational establishments, however Odessa State Environmental University is a leader in the field of environmental education in Ukraine. Training of specialists is carried out *with the aim of their subsequent employment in the subdivisions of the Ministry of Environmental Protection of Ukraine, the Ministry of Emergencies & Affairs of Population Protection from Consequences of Chornobyl Catastrophe of Ukraine, National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine and other departments. *In addition, the graduates can be engaged in nature protection activity at enterprises in both state and private sectors of the economy. Environmental education enables the graduates to be occupied with their professional activity and take an active part in public work. *Environmental education at the university is provided mainly on the basis of statutory documents of the State Standard of Higher Education in Ukraine, which determines the obligatory requirements for the quality of knowledge, competence and practical skills (the list of obligatory disciplines and practical training courses, structure of academic modules, number of academic credits on their completion etc). *At the same time, as the leading centre of Environmental Studies in Ukraine, the University enjoys self-governed training of specialists and initiating amendments to the aforementioned normative documents as consistent with the principles of Bologna Declaration. *Training of specialists in the field of Ecology and Environmental Control (Environmental Science) is carried out by six departments: Department of Applied Ecology; Department of Environmental Law; Department of Hydroecology and Water Research; Department of General and Theoretical Physics; Department of Environmental Chemistry; Department of Agricultural Meteorology. Within the framework of the aforementioned speciality, training in accordance with the syllabi of specialist and master degree is provided in: Management of Environmental Safety; Environmental Aspects of Recreational and Health Resort Economy; Environmental Control and Inspection; Environmental Law; Hydroecology; Environmental Aspects of Fish Industry; Water Biological Resources; Radioecology; Agroecology. *The research area of the departments is diverse, however it is possible to single out the following lines of the conducted research: 1) Integrated Assessment of Tehnogenous Influence on Territories and Aquatoria; 2) Development of Effective Methods for Waste Handling (in particular, a Concept of Attaining to a Zero Waste Level, which differs drastically from the wide-spread approaches at resolving the problems of municipal wastes, is suggested; 3) Hydraulic and Hydrological Aspects of Wetland Recovery;*4) Assessment and Prognostication of Air Basin, Superficial Water and Soil Cover Contamination; 5) Assessment of Hydroecological State of Water Bodies; 6) Research in the Field of Environmental Physics and Chemistry; 7) Assessment of Chemical and Radionuclide Contamination of Agroecosystems. *
