Editor’s Report

Dear Members

I happy to report that the style, design and the contents of the last issue of theNews and Events were positively received by the membership.

In this issue, you will notice that all the bodies of LCNL are getting very busy with the religious andentertainment programs. In the forthcoming months we have our Navratri and Diwali festivals.Our Navratri festival is from Saturday 5/10/2013 to 13/10/2013 at our regular venue, BrentfordLeisure Centre in Chiswick,TW8 0HJ. As we have two weekends this year, I am sure our memberswill take the full benefit.

We have many programs lined up by teams from LCNL, Mahila’s, Senior Men and Senior Ladies. Alot of hard work goes on behind the scene to make them successful. We are thankful to allconcerned including many volunteers who come forward to assist.

In the next issue, we will feature reports and programs by our newly formed LCNL Youth body. Weare very encouraged by the group of youngsters who have come forward. I am sure they will workclosely with us and encourage other youngsters to join us at our activities .

There were some errors on the Janmashtami leaflet in the last issue, which is corrected in thispublication. Janmashtami is on Wednesday 28th August 2013.

Our Chopda Poojan is on Sunday 3/11/2013 at RCT. I would like to wish everybody a Happy Diwaliand A Prosperous New Year on behalf of our President, Executive Committee and all the bodies ofLCNL.

The year has started very well with all the community activities and we are now moving forward to deal with the new and exciting challenges.

We organised a program on 7 June 2013 at RCT to honor Shree Sanjaybhai Tanna. Members andspouses from LCNL, RCT, LCF, Senior Men, Senior Ladies and Mahila attended. Sanjaybhai Tanna isan elected Independent MP for Tororo district of Uganda. He is one of the 3 Lohana serving MP’sin the world, the others being Lord Dolar Popat and Shruti Vadera. Sanjaybhai gave us a veryinteresting background to his journey to reach the Ugandan Parliament.

All members of the community enjoyed the Katha organised by Dhamecha Parivar. All seven dayshad very personal, emotional and religious touch from the Dhamecha family. This family has alwayshad LCNL closer to their hearts and this was very evident throughout the katha. On the last day, I,together with my fellow officers had a chance to present a plaque to the Dhamecha family for theircontribution and support to LCNL and many other communities.

We also had an opportunity to welcome Yogeshbhai Lakhani, President of Lohana Communityworldwide (Mahaparishat) on 17th June 2013. Yogeshbhai gave up his legal career to take achallenge of heading 500 Mahajans with a membership of 2.5 million Lohana’s. LCNL, Mahila andall the past Presidents of LCNL attended the event. He is a unique Raghuvanshi Leader withtremendous dedication.

We are thankful to Shree CB Patel of Gujarat samachar for covering both the events in GujaratSamachar publication.

LCNL Golf was on 3rd July 2013. We had 89-golf players and 115 members at the Barbecue in theevening. The Metro Bank sponsored this event. It is an achievement for the community to haveanother corporate partner for our second event, the first being, business dinner. Recordcontribution was made from current sponsorships as well. This event has now escalated to a newheight.

For the first time in our history, we have LCNL Youth Organisation (LYO) under our LCNL constitutionheaded by a new chairperson Reena Popat, who by profession is a Solicitor. The committee consistsof capable post holders and committee members from various professional backgrounds. I believethis organization has a vital role of bringing our youths closer to the community and my committeeis looking forward to unlocking this huge potential. My sincere thanks to our Vice President, VinodThakrar and Jeet Rughani for making this dream come true.

We have Hanuman Charitra katha 10th & 11 August 2013- Gujrati Natak ‘Chalti Ka Naam Gaadi ‘on25th Aug 2013, Janmashtami 28th Aug 2013 followed by Navratri and Diwali.

The work at our South Harrow Building is progressing well and the first phase will be completedsoon. On completion, we should be able to chart out the planning for the next phase. We stillneed funds and once again I request all the members to join hands in fulfilling this worthwhileand long awaited project.

Further to our last report basic preparation work has been completed for the steelframework and cladding work to commence. Proposed colour scheme for the exterior hasbeen discussed. Once the cladding for the building shell is completed, we will work towardsthe second phase.

As reported previously, we require funding for the refurbishing. Our fundraising team will beactive in the next few weeks. I urge to all the members to be generous by donating and joininghand with us to fulfill our ambition of completing the project ASAP.

Secretary’s Report

You will notice from the various subcommittee reports and the global resumeby our President that the work of the Executive Committed is very stronglypursued by the members. All the Chairpersons of all the wings of LCNL are doinga great job for the community On my part I am pleased to report that theadministrative aspect of the LCNL is also in order and that the usual follow-upsis maintained by our team. As noted in my last report, this year is fairlyimportant in the history of LCNL as we will be focused on the building project in Harrow and youwill note that this is progressing fairly well and that the first phase operation is in progress. Thephotographic version of the outside has also been prepared, we will soon be embarking on these,and other touches needed to progress the project.

The task of raising further funds has been placed in the capable hands of our young an energeticmember Dinesh shonchhatra. I have no doubt that we will hear from him with a positive inputin due course. Your continued support is important not only into matters any financial help butalso other visions that you may have and which you feel will enhance our ambitions of thecommunity.

I had also reported the winding up of YLANL. I am pleased to report that this has been positivelyactioned by our President Dipakbhai and Vice-president Vinod thakrar after the mandate fromthe AGM to bring under LCNL. A number of youth have been chosen who will head a new body.This new body will be part of LCNL and will be operational on a similar mandate to that of Mahila.Our Youth organisation will work closely with us and will also organise programs, which will beattractive for our Lohana Youths. We anticipate that more youngsters will connect with LCNLthrough this new body

We are in a process of reviewing our constitution in entirety because of many new developmentsin the recent times. We have a new building, a new LCF trust ,a new youth wing and RCT. We needto take a global view and tune up workings and operational matters for our large organisationLCNL, in a professional manner.

Our other Religious Events and other fund raising events are continuously being followed by ourconveners and we sincerely thank our sponsors and also supporters who make this happen forthe community and us.

News and events Magazine:The first news and event magazine for the year 2013-14 was posted on 31sy May 2013. It is animportant publication as contains details and reports from the newly elected committee. Itincludes planned programmes for the year, subcommittee details, contact details of all the lcnlbodies and committee members.

We had some encouraging remarks from the members on the design, quality and the contents,which is always appreciated. We thank the members for talking the time to give us the feedback The following subcommittee members played a vital part in the new design and concept. We hope everyone is enjoying the surprisingly warm weather together with the Wedding season.

Our 1st “programme was a Yatra” on 22nd May 2013, to Birmingham to visit Shree Balaji Mandirand the Ek Niwas Universal Temple as well as visiting the Chocolate Factory was a huge success.Everyone indulged with the chocolate and had lots of fun.

On 29th June 2013, we had a Laughter Therapy Yoga Workshop at RCT, which was a new eventand was well received by all those who attended and they all appreciated the “HO HO HA HA”therapy with positive and encouraging support.

Now with Shravan Month approaching fast and we ask Lord Shiv for eternal blessings.On Monday 19th August, please come and join in Rudri poojan.

There are exciting times too as we are closely working with our LCNL parent team. Our forthcomingevent, a Gujarati play, “Chalti Ka Nam Gaadi” on Sunday 25th August at Winston Churchill, Ruislip.Tickets are selling fast.

On 12th October, we have our ever-popular ladies Navratri Garba’s. Please come, enjoy mela stylegarbas with lots of stalls, and end up by participating in the 108 Aarti.

On 7th November, we have The Divine Wedding of Bhagwan Shaligram (Vishnu Bhagwan) andMata Tulsi Vranda.

On 14th December, 2013 we are organsing our Annual Special Needs party at RCT.

LCNL Sports ReportLCNL Golf 3rd July 2013

The annual LNCL golf tournament was held at the Essendon Country Club inHatfield on Wednesday 3 July 2013. The event proved to be more successful thanlast year with 89 golfers who took part on the day and we were forced to turn awayover 20 late applicants. The whole day proved to be an immense success with allparticipants enjoying not only the golf but also the BBQ in the evening.

Can I start by thanking all of the participants without whom there would havebeen no golf day and also a thank you to those that attended the BBQ in theevening. Can I also thank Club 2000 who provided the food for the BBQ in theevening. Judging by the feedback that we have received, everyone who attendedloved the venue and the food.

Our main sponsor for the event this year was Metro Bank to whom we are verygrateful for their support and for providing various gifts to the participants. Again,Rameshbhai Radia sponsored the floating trophy, which was awarded to thewinner of the event. Special thanks to Thakrar Family of HT & Co Drinks for theirgenerous sponsorship for the last 2 years

LCNL Lohana Senior Ladies Centre’s Report

After a successful event in May, Senior Ladies went to South End On Sea on 13th June 2013.Though the weather was not favourable, the ladies’ plucked up the courage to join us for picnic.It was not raining but it was very windy when we reached our destination. It was impossible to sitin a park to have picnic. However, with the help of our influential committee members like Pratibhaand Naju, we managed to coax the Café Owner to let us sit in his small cafeteria and eat our lunch.In return we promised him that we will all order coffee after lunch.

My thanks also go to Pratibha and Naju. Everybody sat in a warm cafeteria and enjoyed the lunchand hot coffee. My thanks go to Maheshwari, Laxmiben, Savitaben, and Geeta Gadhia for helpingon the day.

Lohana member from the town had invited us for tea at his place. Unfortunately, the coach driverwas reluctant to take us there so we had to drop the idea. The ladies had a good time roaming inthe shopping arena but due to the bad weather, we could not walk on the sea shore. In spite ofthis, we all had a good time.

On 2nd July, we had arranged to have a Lagna Geet Competition but as no-one showed anyinterest to participate it was cancelled. 12 ladies from the public took part in the singingcompetition. We had three winners, namely, Prafula, Kusumben Morjaria, and Sarojben Adatia.Mayaben Panchal entertained us by singing Lagna Geets covering the whole ceremony startingfrom the arrival of Jaan till the Vidai of the newly married. In some of the songs, the ladiesparticipated in singing. Pushpaben Raja provided Ormu on the day and everybody relished theIdly Sāmbhar snacks.

My sincere thanks to the committee members for their untiring support and hard work at all thefunctions. My sincere thanks to Pushpaben Raja for supporting us.

Our forthcoming programmes are Loti Utsav on Thursday, 8th August, 2013. The Manorathi forLotiji is £11. Other vaishnavs can come free of charge. Pujya Pad. Go.Shree Priti BetijiMahodyashree has kindly agreed to grace the function by her presence. Sunilbhai (Mathuravasi)from India will sing bhajans and Garbas. Light Farari snacks will be served after the Utsav, followedby Cookery Demonstration in September, Sharad Poonam Garba in October and Diwali Lunch inNovember.

Lohana Social Centre (Men) Since our last report in the News Events in May 2013, the following programmes have been held:

A member’s social get together with their spouses was arranged on 14 June 2013 .This was toencourage more youngsters and was attended by 140 participants. After lunch a variety ofentertainment items including a Bingo was played. I am pleased to report that our long-standingsupporter, MrsPushpaben Raja, sponsored the whole event. We are grateful for her regular support.

As this programme has become very popular, the spouses have arranged a reciprocal event onFriday 16 August 2013 with a view to returning the hospitality to the centre members.

A one-day picnic to the Crawley temple and Brighton was arranged on Sunday the 7 July 2013.The weather turned out to be very favorable and 49 member who participated enjoyed the picnic.

We have recently completed our Table Tennis and Pool annual competitions and the winners andrunner-ups will be awarded trophies on Monday the 29 July 2013.

Our annual Grand Diwali Dinner celebration programme is planned on Thursday the 24 October2013 at Kadwa Patidar Hall. The programme consists of a social evening with dinner followed bymelodious music. This event is very popular amongst our members and senior members of ourcommunity at large. It is usually well supported by LCNL and RCT. Once again, the Committeehas decided that the charges per person will be £15 only. Further details will be announced indue course.

Our AGM/Annual Panchayat was held on Wednesday the 24 July 2013. The President of LCNLDeepakbhai Jatania and two LCNL representatives, Janubhai Kotecha and Vinodbhai Thakrarattended. In the absence of Shree Popatbhai Ruparelia the election was very effectively carriedout by LCNL President Deepakbhai Jatania. We thank them for their continuous support.

The venue for this event was the Navnat Centre in Hayes hired through the NavnatCouncil of Vanik Association at cost price as this is their community hall.

t 3 other organisations were also associated with us and as per protocol we werebriefed and informed at all times.

t 260 young boys and girls who were registered and fully participated in the event.

t Amongst these there were 45 Lohana Boys and Girls

t I have discussed with our President and Jeet Rughani to host a Lohana only eventwhich we are aiming to host in September 2013.

t The next mixed event involving the four communities and a possible fifth one(including the SONI community) is planned for November 2013.

t I once again thank my committee who attended and assisted me in the event onthe day.

RCT Chairperson’s ReportI feel extremely proud and privileged to have been given an opportunity to serve the Communitythrough the medium of RCT as a Trustee and latterly as Chairperson. My term following the AGMwill come to an end this year.

I am extremely thankful to my fellow trustees with whom I have worked for the last 6 years. Theyhave been of tremendous help, assistance and guidance particularly in the upgrading andrefurbishment of the RCT hall and it ancillary facilities. As a result of this, the hire and other use ofthe premises have been expanded and has given us resources to continue with the improvements.

I would also like to thank the LCNL President, Executive Committee and affiliated bodies for theircontinual support in all matters and cooperation which has led to the better enjoyment andunderstanding of our objectives. With the completion of the Brember House project, I am surethat both facilities will be used to the maximum benefit of the community at large.

It only remains for me to wish the incoming Chairperson all the best and look forward to thecontinual support for the RCT facilities from the community members.
