L oisJanet(Rolhk)Klotz,wastheyoungestoffourdaughtersborntoEdmundPhilbert&AnnaCatherine(Peters)RolhkonNovember16,1926,onafarmNorthwestofHolstein.WhenitwastimetoregisterLois’birth,theydiscoveredtherewasanotherLoisRoehlkbornin1926,soLoiswastheonlyoneinherfamilytohaveamiddlename.

Thefamilymovedintotownin1932whenLoiswasintheOirstgrade.Around1938,LoisbeganworkingeveningsinChrisBauer’scaféwheretheymadetheirownhomemadeicecream&hand-packedhamburgersfriedinablackironskilletonacookstovewhichwasheatedbysticksofwoodandcorncobs.ApanofwaterwasheatedatthebackofthestovetowashdishesandLoisneverfailedtomention,“nooneevergotsickeither.”LoistaughtSundayschoolwhilestillinhighschool&latertaughtBibleschoolforseveralyearsaswell.

ShegraduatedfromHolsteinHighSchoolin1944&beganworkintheHolsteinPostOfOiceasaclerk.ItwasatthattimeCliftonKlotzreturnedfromtheservice&resumedhisjobasaruralmailcarrierthatthetwomet.

TheywedonFebruary23,1947,andcelebrated58yearsofmarriage,enjoyingvarioustripsoverseas&cruisesuntilClifton’sdeathonDecember16,2005.LoiswasaCubScoutleaderandanactivememberoftheHolsteinAmericanLegionAuxiliary.Sheenjoyedplayingcards,spendingtimewithhergrandchildrenandgreat-grandchildren,andwillalwaysberememberedasafastidioushomemaker.

Shewasprecededindeathbyherhusband,Clifton;infantson,RobertDean;sister,GeraldineLogan;sister,ArlineHogrefeandbrother-in-law,Pat;sister,WinifredKuchelandbrother-in-lawLowell;andniece,CamiliaSproul.

Loisissurvivedbyhersons,Bruceandwife,JeanofSt.James,Florida,andStevenandwife,LindaofHolstein,Iowa;Oivegrandchildren,Travisandwife,Deniseandson,Xavier,Michaelandwife,Melissaandson,Xander,Adamandwife,Nora,HannahandOiancé,Aaron,andJon;aswellasnumerousnieces,nephews,relatives,andfriends.
