London Bio Packaging was founded in 2005 to offer food and catering businesses an eco-friendly alternative to traditional food packaging and

our vision is to ‘deliver sustainability’ to your organisation.

We believe that a world based on a linear economy, where resources are extracted, used and then thrown away, is not sustainable. We want to shift towards a circular economy, where products are made from renewable resources and later reused. This leads to increased efficiency, less resource depletion and lower carbon emissions.

As well as developing sustainable packaging, we established the UK’s first ‘closed loop’ packaging composting and recycling service. Our service helps customers use our packaging, made from renewable plants or recycled materials, and afterwards ensures this packaging can be turned back into a raw material for other uses: like compost, renewable energy or making more packaging.

Our biggest closed loop project took place in 2012 when we were chosen as the official packaging supplier of the London 2012 Olympic Games. We supplied over 120 million pieces of packaging and helped compost and recycle it after use - diverting 6,330 tonnes from landfill and making it the largest zero waste event in history.
