www.lps.org.uk Dear Member, This is my last message as President, it has been a privilege and honour to serve the LPS as President for the last two years. On the whole it has been two very good years, we have had tremendous aendance at our seminars, New Technology remains an excellent full-day event. Despite the industry downturn and financial crisis, we have connued our fi- nancial support of students through the Iain Hillier scheme and young professionals with the Dick Woodhouse Award. I want to thank all the members of the Commiee who have made my job so easy and so pleasurable. I'm leaving the Society in great hands, Michael O’Keefe will be taking over as President in the New Year, and I move to the role of Past-President. A big thank you all those who organised the last one day seminar for 2015 covering Petrophysical Uncertainty on 2nd December. The talks flowed wonderfully covering everything from seismic to reservoir modelling and beyond. Very well done indeed and it prompted some great quesons and discussion. The Presidents evening this year was sponsored by Schlumberger, Baker Hughes, Weatherford and Hallibur- ton. We are extremely grateful for the support from these great companies, making it a fabulous evening and a good chance to catch up with so many old friends. The AGM was held on 17th November, where the accounts for 2014 and the minutes for the 2014 AGM were approved. We said goodbye to two long serving commiee members Mike Millar (11 years) and Paul Hoddino (6 years) and congratulated them on the outstanding service to the LPS. The commiee for 2016 was voted in. Our next seminar is the New Technology session on 21st January at The Geological Society, Burlington House, London. The event is free to aend and does not require prior registraon. We have a full agenda covering various aspects of MWD/LWD, wireline, mudlogging, coring and more. Please see the website for details. On behalf of the LPS Execuve Commiee I wish you a wonderful Christmas and a hap- py, healthy and prosperous New Year. Dear Member,

This is my last message as President, it has been a privilege and honour

to serve the LPS as President for the last two years. On the whole it has

been two very good years, we have had tremendous attendance at our

seminars, New Technology remains an excellent full-day event. Despite

the industry downturn and financial crisis, we have continued our fi-

nancial support of students through the Iain Hillier scheme and young

professionals with the Dick Woodhouse Award. I want to thank all the members of the Committee who have

made my job so easy and so pleasurable. I'm leaving the Society in great hands, Michael O’Keefe will be taking

over as President in the New Year, and I move to the role of Past-President.

A big thank you all those who organised the last one day seminar for 2015 covering Petrophysical Uncertainty

on 2nd December. The talks flowed wonderfully covering everything from seismic to reservoir modelling and

beyond. Very well done indeed and it prompted some great questions and discussion.

The Presidents evening this year was sponsored by Schlumberger, Baker Hughes, Weatherford and Hallibur-

ton. We are extremely grateful for the support from these great companies, making it a fabulous evening and a

good chance to catch up with so many old friends.

The AGM was held on 17th November, where the accounts for 2014 and the minutes for the 2014 AGM were

approved. We said goodbye to two long serving committee members Mike Millar (11 years) and Paul Hoddinott

(6 years) and congratulated them on the outstanding service to the LPS. The committee for 2016 was voted in.

Our next seminar is the New Technology session on 21st January at The Geological Society, Burlington House,

London. The event is free to attend and does not require prior registration. We have a full agenda covering

various aspects of MWD/LWD, wireline, mudlogging, coring and more. Please see the website for details.

On behalf of the LPS Executive Committee I

wish you a wonderful Christmas and a hap-

py, healthy and prosperous New Year.

Best regards

Iain Whyte

The 2016 international symposium will be held in Reykjavik, Iceland. As an industry in change petro-

physicists are responsible for making sure we acquire the right data for our projects. But we must also

demonstrate that value is added to the project through interpretation of high quality, fit-for-purpose data.

Petrophysics is one of the key inputs linking geology into reserves optimization, and in today’s economic

climate with an increasing challenge to find new reserves it is more important than ever to emphasize the

value petrophysics adds to our business.

The SPWLA Board of Directors invites you to join us in Reykjavik, Iceland, June 25-29, 2016 to show-

case your recent innovations and discoveries at the 57th Annual Symposium. We solicit papers on all

aspects of formation evaluation.
