Enjoy a sightseeing tour of London in the company of your Study Experiences Tour Manager, who will provide an informative commentary. The tour will last around two hours and will take in many of London’s world famous landmarks.

The Coca-Cola London Eye offers breath-taking views of London from high above the River Thames. See Big Ben towering above the Houses of Parliament, follow St. James Park as it sweeps down to Buckingham Palace. Is the Queen at home? You’ll spot the flag flying if she is.

Relax in one of the 32 high-tech glass capsules and enjoy the London skyline at your leisure, using the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 interactive touch screen guides, providing an enhanced experience that includes key information on landmarks that can be seen from the London Eye as well as a 3D view of each sight.

Once back on the ground, the London Eye 4D is a ground-breaking 3D film with in theatre effects, such as wind, bubbles and mist, to make the 4D. The film itself is a touching story of a little girl in London with her father. Her view of famous London landmarks is obscured by people and traffic, but a seagull draws her attention to the London Eye and her visit finally gives her an amazing view of the city.

The viewing gallery is situated on floors 68, 69 and 72 of The Shard, Europe’s tallest building, standing at a height of 1,016ft (310m).

The View from The Shard offers a high tech and multi-sensory experience with exhilarating 360º views stretching 40 miles across the city of London. High Speed lifts take you through the clouds to level 68 for a triple-height, light-filled main level where the view is revealed. London past, present and future will be laid before you like you’ve never seen it before.

On level 72 experience the elements with part of the building exposed through the fractures where the shards of glass come together. Visitors can gaze up at the building’s famous giant glass shards disappearing into the sky.

St Paul’s is the cathedral of the Diocese of London. Designed by Sir Christopher Wren, St Paul’s has marked many royal occasions from Queen Victoria’s diamond jubilee in 1897 to the Royal wedding of HRH the Prince of Wales to Lady Diana Spencer in 1981. St Paul’s has also been the site of state funerals of British military leaders, including Admiral Lord Nelson, the Duke of Wellington and Sir Winston Churchill.

The Tower of London offers dozens of sights and activities. Some of the most popular sights include the Crown Jewels, the Prisoners Exhibition and Lady Jane Grey’s graffiti. HMS BelfastPrice from: FREE

HMS Belfast is now the only surviving vessel of her type to have been in service during the Second World War. The Imperial War Museum has ensured that visitors remember her place in Britain’s maritime heritage.

Learn about the history of the ship and view the preservation projects on board. Groups can undertake a teacher-led visit using a variety of downloadable learning resources, or enjoy a curriculum-linked learning session in the school room on the ship’s former mess deck. Visits must be arranged directly with Imperial War Museums.

Thames BarrierPrice from: £5 per student / £6 per teacher

The Thames Barrier is one of the world’s largest moveable flood barriers. Spanning 520 metres across the River Thames, it protects 125 square kilometres of central London from flooding. Visit the information centre to learn about how the Barrier was designed, built and works. Groups can also learn about the history of the River Thames.

Broadcasting House, situated right in the heart of central London, just north of Oxford Street, is home to the flagship tour of the BBC’s state of the art, multimedia broadcasting centre.

The fun, informative and interactive tour lasts ninety minutes. As the BBC tours are of working buildings, it cannot be guaranteed who or what you will see on any given day, however areas you are likely to see include the Newsroom, The Radio Theatre, the Piazza and The One Show studio. There are also two interactive areas, the News Set, where you have the opportunity to have a go at reading the news and weather and also the interactive Radio Drama Studio, where your students will become actors and sound effects operators.

Probably the world’s most famous zoo, ZSL London Zoo has been entertaining and delighting visitors since it opened to the public in 1847. With over 720 animal species, exciting and innovative new exhibits and heritage-listed buildings almost as famous as their inhabitants, it’s a great day out.

Tiger Territory is home to critically-endangered Sumatran tigers, in an impressive 2,500sqm (27,000sqft) enclosure where visitors will embark on a journey through an Indonesian habitat, coming face-to-face with beautiful tigers through the floor-to-ceiling glass windows. Unusually for cats, tigers love water, and visitors will be able to see them hanging out in their custom-built pool. When they’re not playing in the water, the tigers have all-day access to indoor dens where visitors will be able to see the big cats relaxing.

Other up-close experiences at ZSL London Zoo are Rainforest Live and Rainforest Night. Animal Adventure, Butterfly Paradise, Meet the Monkeys or the famous Gorilla Kingdom.

Taking in the sights and smells of Ye Olde London town, enjoy a lesson on the great fire of London in1666 as you cross a real life version of this life changing event. Enjoy the gruesome tales of The Keeper of the Heads and the gory stories of the fate that became those committing the worst crime of all; treason against the King or Queen. Queen Boudicca will take you on an interesting journey as she battles with the Romans in revenge for going back on their promises and that old rogue Jack the Ripper and body snatcher Ben Crouch might make an appearance as you hear their stories at the Star Inn.

Crossing the vortex in the Tombs, come face to face with all manner of gruesome creatures as you make your way through the catacombs of hell. The Stadium Tour offers a fun, informative and interactive experience for all sports fans. Groups can see areas usually reserved for players only, such as the dressing rooms where the players’ shirts hang on the wall. The tour also includes the chance to walk up the players’ tunnel, as well as visiting The Press Room, The Television Interview Rooms and the Managers Dugout.

Explore behind-the-scenes at Arsenal FC with this self-guided audio tour. Hear from the boss as you take your place in the changing room, listen to the roar of the crowd as you walk down the tunnel, explore the museum and test your Arsenal knowledge against one of the Arsenal experts. The Wimbledon Lawn Tennis Museum highlights include a cinema, showing a film about the science of tennis and The Whites of Wimbledon which houses an extensive collection of Wimbledon attire. Interactive touch screen consoles can be accessed in the hallways for games and an archive of past matches. Don’t miss the ‘ghost of McEnroe’ who acts as your guide! Groups can book a guided tour of the grounds, talk and museum visit, has been designed to examine the general principles of marketing, using the museum as a case study. (Not available during the Wimbledon Tennis Championships fortnight).

Experience a behind the scenes look into the workings of this contemporary sports venue. Visit the Royal Box, hospitality suites, medical room, players’ tunnel and enjoy a breath-taking view of the arena from the top of the stand. The Museum looks in depth at the origin and culture of Rugby. Groups will also be given the opportunity to discuss the particulars of the Rugby Football Union and Twickenham Stadium with an expert guide.

Bank of England Museum Price from: FREE

The Bank of England Museum tells the story of the Bank of England from its foundation in 1694 to its role today as the United Kingdom’s central bank. The historical displays include material drawn from the Bank’s own collections of books, documents, silver, prints, paintings, banknotes, coins and photographs. There is a display of gold, including Roman and modern gold bars, alongside pikes and muskets once used to defend the Bank. Computer technology and audio visual displays explain the Bank’s present day role.

The museum offers a one-hour presentation, including Q&A, on the role and functions of the Bank of England at the centre of the UK’s financial system, how it sets interest rates to control inflation, issues banknotes and works to maintain a stable financial system. Groups can undertake a teacher-led visit using a variety of downloadable learning resources, or enjoy a curriculum-linked learning session in the dedicated facilities in the Learning Centre and around the site.

Natural History Museum and Darwin CentrePrice from: FREE

The Natural History Museum is the UK’s national museum of natural history, and a centre of scientific excellence in taxonomy and biodiversity. The Museum’s mission is to maintain and develop its collections and use them to promote the discovery, understanding, responsible use and enjoyment of the natural world. The landmark Darwin Centre allows visitors to explore world-class science in action in a dramatic, state-of-the- art science and collections facility. The building is the most significant expansion at the Museum since it moved to South Kensington in 1881 and visitors can see world-leading scientists at work, incredible specimens and exciting displays.

The Science Museum is an impressive tribute to every conceivable area of science, illustrating in depth and detail the many developments in science, technology and medicine that have played a part in shaping the modern world. ‘Bond in Motion’ is the official exhibition of James Bond vehicles that feature in the renowned film series. London Transport Museum Price from: £4 per person

The London Transport Museum collects items that reflect all aspects of the history of public transport in London from 1800 to the present day. Ranging from uniform buttons to complete Tube trains, the Museum’s collections are the most comprehensive of their type anywhere in the world, numbering some 375,000 items, with a stunning variety of vehicles, signs, photographs, posters, drawings, uniforms and architectural material making up the core of the collection.

Theatre Workshops Study Experiences’ exciting Theatre Workshops offer an excellent opportunity for your students to develop their performance skills or simply increase their understanding of theatre.

We offer a choice of fully-interactive workshops, lasting around 90 minutes (In The Spotlight and West End Dance last 60 minutes). Every workshop is tailored specifically for your group, taking into account the students’ age range and abilities. Our Theatre Workshops are run by actors, directors, choreographers and musicians with first-hand experience of working in London’s theatres.

The workshops can be linked to the West End show that your group are seeing and can include a Q&A with a member of the show’s cast – making it a truly valuable experience for your students, whatever their age. The workshops are held at West End rehearsal studios or at West End theatres, and as they are arranged exclusively for your group, a group size of between 25 and 40 students is required. Teacher places are free.

Perform Live in LondonStudy Experiences offers school, college and amateur performing group choirs, bands and orchestras the opportunity to perform live in London’s Covent Garden. Students will be in the company of a professional West End theatre musician.

They perform at St Paul’s Church, a renowned Covent Garden landmark. Known as The Actors’ Church, as a result of its longstanding association with London’s West End theatre community, it provides a wonderful venue for your performance.

The Performance ExperienceDuration: 2 days Price from: £115 per student

St Paul’s is an excellent concert venue, with seating for an audience of 250. The church has two dressing rooms, each holding 25 people and also has a professional sound and light system. Music stands are provided and it is also possible to use the church’s concert piano.

The performance experience will last around two and a half hours, with an hour given for preparation and rehearsal, 40 minutes then free to relax and change, prior to a 50 minute performance. Throughout your time at the church, you will be accompanied by a professional West End musician, who will assist you however you wish, from preparing your performance area to musical advice and input during your rehearsal.
