Longines, Title Partner of the Longines Athina Onassis Horse Show

Longines' history has been intertwined with equestrian sports for more than a century, and the Swiss watchmaking label has been a partner in obstacle jumping competitions since 1912. Longines wouldn't miss the event for the 4th edition of the Longines Athina Onassis Horse Show. Once again as Title Partner for the event, Longines will also be the Official Timekeeper for the international 5 star (CSI 5*) obstacle jumping competition and will lend its name to the most important competition for 3 days: the Longines Grand Prix.
The Longines Grand Prix: SATURDAY JUNE 3 - 3:30 PM The Longines Grand Prix is reserved for only the best international competition riding pairs, or rather the best riders. The event takes place in two stages, one with bars placed at 1.60m, with an allocated time for two rounds. Only 40% of competitors make it to the second round which is a shorter course with different technical challenges. In case of a tie at the end of the second round, there is a jump-off. The starting order on the second round is in the reverse order of the provisional ranking from the first round. The watch borrows the distinctive lines of the rectangular buckle found on show bridles for Franches-Montagnes horses, a unique Swiss breed. Mounted on a steel bracelet, the silver dial is enhanced by blue steel hands and adorned with diamond index markers. The event is labeled 5-stars (CSI5*), a pledge of excellence and athletic performance and is organized by Athina Onassis. After Rio de Janeiro in 2009, the Longines Athina Onassis Horse Show moved to France in 2014, to the beautiful Pampelonne Beach, associated with international jet-setters and the "Saint-Tropez Legend". From June 1 to 3, 2017, the Longines Athina Onassis Horse Show will feature 2 different levels of competition for a total of € 549,000 in prize money. The world's best riders / horses will compete in the 4 classes of the CSI5*, all valid for the Longines ranking, including the Longines Grand Prix with € 300,000 in prize money (Saturday, June 3, 3:30PM). 9 classes will be dedicated to amateur riders competing in the CSI1*. A total of one hundred riders and nearly 200 horses are expected, representing more than twenty countries.
