• Training Provision – Local training provision is offered mainly by independent providers and is available at all levels from Entry Level to Level 3. Options include study programmes and traineeships. Some providers also lead on the delivery of apprenticeships. This booklet includes a directory of some local providers and their websites.

How are the rules around Covid-19 affecting the delivery of courses this year? Campsmount Academy has engaged with Microsoft Teams as a learning platform that supports both blended learning and remote learning. Students have the App embedded into their day to day curriculum to access out resources and activities.

In the event of any lockdown or isolation restrictions, all courses will continue to run through the Microsoft Teams application. Staff in Post 16 used this platform to successfully deliver a remote curriculum during the last full lock down, our current Y13 cohort are in a strong position and the effect on their learning was negligible. Should students or staff be required to isolate learning will continue via live lessons and work will be set and assessed through Teams.

Our teaching staff have worked hard to embed this flexible approach to learning so that in the long term our student experience is positive. In the short term we can ensure that progress will be made continuously and seamlessly both in the Post 16 centre and at home.

Harrison College is different from a traditional Sixth Form or Further Education College as we are based in a small, professional environment, designed to maximise the potential of all young people, including those with high functioning autism and Asperger’s syndrome. We focus on preparing young people for adult life, encompassing employability skills, work

experience, social skills, and life skills. Our class sizes are small, with a maximum of 10 to a class, allowing young people to build confidence and improve their mental health in a safe and familiar setting. We see the study programme as a bridge between school and employment as we include a long term work placement; an internship, in our programme allowing young people to develop the required employability skills whilst being supported by staff at the College and the work based mentor.

How are the rules around Covid-19 affecting thedelivery of courses this year? Covid-19 Update: We have overhauled our diploma programmes to make sure we can continue to deliver them safely and in-line with Government and Public Health England’s Covid-19 recommendations from September 2020.

We’ve also identified the following advantages in our learning programmes, which offer potential benefits when compared to learning in larger institutions:

• Our relatively small student community and our focus on learning delivered in smaller group sizes (rather than the larger numbers of learners in Colleges or Sixth Form environments) reduces the risk of spreading infections person to person.

• Our learners benefit from having a dedicated workstation, therefore reducing the risk of infections being spread indirectly, compared to widely shared learner computers used in many learning institutions.

• We have developed a bespoke online learning platform, which will allow learners on all courses a more flexible way to complete their learning, offering an alternative to physically attending sessions, where necessary.

• Studying in small work groups in our real industry setting also allows more of the vital hands-on time needed to develop a high degree of practical competence using equipment, and our vast array of industry level kit means you get to use the same gear professionals do (not the hobbyist stuff used in most learning institutions).

Our students are being asked to keep in their own bubble and have designated teaching rooms that are for year 12 and 13 only. There have been extra laptops and headphones ordered for our students who can work in the sixth form bases. How are the rules around Covid-19 affecting thedelivery of courses this year? Trinity Sixth Form is operating a full time curriculum for all its Y12 and Y13 students. The Sixth Form has been grouped as one bubble with lessons taking place in classrooms which are not used by other year groups. Our excellent facilities have allowed us to ensure all students have access to their normal teachers and lessons are progressing as they normally would with additional intervention and catch up for work missed during lockdown. Face masks are compulsory on corridors and lesson starts are staggered to ensure students can move to specialist classrooms without encountering other bubbles. Students are not required to be on site when they do not have lessons but they are welcome to use their specialist facilities at any time. Remote and blended learning is available for any student who needs to self isolate via MS teams. All classes are using this platform to ensure work is not missed.
