ith everyone’sattention onthe developingromance between Jennifer Lawrenceand Chris Martin, the love life of his

ex, Gwyneth Paltrow, has been playingout under the radar. Until now, that is.The 42-year-old actress’s relationship with Glee executive Brad Falchukappears to have been bubbling alongnicely since they started dating earlierthis year, and in the week after Chris,37, and 24-year-old Jen went public with their romance – and even sparked wedding rumours – it seems thatGwyneth might not be too far behind.

‘She’s moved on just as Chris has, buther new relationship hasn’t made somany headlines,’ reveals an insider. In

fact, friends say it could have been theback-to-back reports of Jennifer andChris heading for marriage that triggereda discussion between Gwyneth andBrad about taking their relationship tothe next level. ‘Gwyneth had come toterms with Chris and Jennifer dating, but the news of wedding bells will havecome as a surprise and, as always, Brad was there to offer support,’ our sourceadds. Apparently Gwyneth wants to bepositive and upbeat after the first publicshots of Chris and Jen do the rounds –she’ll hate the thought of being pitied

by people who don’t know the realstory – and we’re told Brad supportsher 100%, even mentioning marriage.

‘They’ve started to spend more andmore time together since Gwyneth’ssummer in the Hamptons came to anend, and Brad’s fallen hard for her. He’s

a man who wears his heart on hissleeve – the opposite of Chris – andhe’s set on settling down with Gwynand proving they’re happy and just asserious as Chris and Jen,’ insiders claim.

Such an announcement could be met with suggestions that the two are rushinginto it, but GwynethandBraddohavehistory. They met back in2010,whenGwyn first appearedin Glee ,andeventhen the pair weresaidtoshareaconnection (althoughboth werestillmarried at the time).Reportsthat they were dating earlierthisyearwereproven when they holidayedasa couplein July.

So, could Gwynethbeoncoursefor a second wedding?Perhaps, butforthetime being sheappears happyto let therelationship

develop in its owntime. ‘Gwyn is very attracted to Brad.Everyone feelsshe’s far too focused towasteher timeon a fling, and the fact he will havehelped her through the worst of theseparation from Chris must have shownher what a kind guy he is,’ says oursource. ‘But marriage is a big step, andalthough her divorce from Chris maybe done and dusted by Christmas, she’snot one to rush that kind of decision.’

And there could be another obstacle

standing in the way of marital bliss. Afterspending a decade as one half of an A-list couple, and following previousromances with Hollywood’s eliteincluding Brad Pitt and Ben Affleck, insiders say Gwyneth is used to beingin a relationship with someone equally

as famous as her,so the powerbetween themis perfectlybalanced. Somesay she could behaving difficultyadjustingtolife withsomeonelikehercurrentTVexecutivebeau.‘Bradmay beabigdealintheTVindustrybuthe’snotwell-knowninanyothercircle, whichisanentirely newconceptfor Gwyneth.Chriswasfamousinhisownrightwhen they gottogether– their

firstmeetingwasbackstageatoneof his gigs – and she will have loved thathe understood the pressure she facedliving, albeit fiercely privately, in thepublic eye. Gwyn would benefit fromhaving someone famous by her side,if only so they could share the burdenand know the measures they wouldneed to take to ensure her twochildren, Apple and Moses, have

as normal a life as possible.’ While solicitors are rumoured to bebusy drawing up Gwyneth and Chris’divorce papers, it seems the two are very consciously moving on with theirnew partners. Only time will tell who walks down the aisle again first.

It would seem Chris Martin isn’t the only one movingon from their break-up fast, as insiders say his ex-wifeGwyneth Paltrow is considering saying ‘I do’…

Pals say that 35-year-old Katie – who also recently attended a Dujourmagazine party in New York, whereshe was seen looking happier thanever and surrounded by maleadmirers, no less – was once

‘Why I Volunteered To LeadThe Air Strikes Against IS’

Female Fighter Pilot Speaks Out:

As the world takesa stand against IS,Major Mariamal-Mansouri, 35,from Abu Dhabi,has revealed she’sfighting backagainst genderstereotypes, too… W

alking towards her F-16fighter jet, headscarftucked into her khakiuniform, Major Mariamal-Mansouri checks the

aircraft thoroughly before climbinginto the cockpit and strapping herselfin. She’s leading the United ArabEmirates’ attack against IS – a taskthat involves being in charge of three

other male pilots, risking her life todestroy the terrorist organisation’sbases in Syria. And in a notoriouslyconservative country (on the borderof Saudi Arabia, where women aren’teven allowed to drive), her role in theoperation is a really, really big deal.

‘After I finished high school, I madeup my mind that I wanted to be a fighterpilot. At that time the doors weren’topen for females to be pilots, so I hadto wait 10 years,’ Mariam recalledrecently, adding that she went touniversity in the meantime to studyEnglish literature, before becoming thefirst ever woman to enrol in the UAE AirForce in 2006. ‘As soon as the doors were opened, I volunteered,’ she said.

Now, after eight years, Mariam’s skillsare being put to the test, as the UAE last week joined the US, Jordan, Qatar,Bahrain and Saudi Arabia in deployingfighter jets to implement air strikesagainst IS in Syria. And while the UKhas sent two RAF jets to join the US

air strikes taking place over Iraq, it’sMariam who’s becoming the face of thecampaign. Emirati ambassador Yousef Al Otaiba even appeared on US TVshow Morning Joe to confirm reports.

‘I can officially confirm the UAE strikemission on Monday night was led bya female fighter pilot,’ he announced, adding that Mariam is a ‘fully qualified, highly trained, combat-ready pilot’.

But while senior authorities havebeen supportive, Mariam has foundherself the victim of discrimination.Presenters on US TV channel Fox Newsmade sexist comments as the newsbroke. ‘The problem is, after shebombed it she couldn’t park it,’critiqued presenter Greg Gutfeld. And

although Mariamhas always said herfamily supporther role, severalunconfirmed reportsclaim some of herrelatives may have

disowned her aftershe led the attackagainst IS last week.

‘It’s normal in every culture – whena woman enters a male-dominatedfield they find the same hesitations, the same prejudices, the samestereotypes,’ Mariam explained in aninterview with CNN. ‘I had to provemyself just by being determined andhaving the skill and the knowledge toperform equally as well as the men…Most of the time the spotlight is on me.

‘Men and women have the rightto work in any [area],’ she added.‘We have to prepare every citizento be ready to defend the UAE.Female or male, it doesn’t matter.’

MajorMariamNot content withbecoming theUAE’s first femalefighter pilot,Mariamal-Mansouri alsoled three othermale pilots in theattacks over Syrialast week.

‘I StruggleTo Control

My FOMU’Writer Freya Hardy,, from Eastbourne,

explains why she’s soscared of messing up,she takes everythingway too far…

‘E ver sinceI had mysons,

I’ve foundmyself trying

to do absolutelyeverything to thebest of my abilities.I always thoughtthat I’d be allbiscuit-baking andfinger-painting – the perfect calm, mellow mum. Obviously I do thosethings, but I’ve actually found myselftrying to achieve more career-wisethan ever before because I’mdesperate not to “fail” in one areaof my life, in order to succeed inanother. But that means that when

I’m not at work, thinking about workor in the process of researchingsomething work-related, I feel likeeverything is unravelling. It makesholidays with my family hard, and Ioften end up feeling tearful and tired.

It’s not about financial success –I’m not really motivated by moneyor status – but I put myself underpressure to fulfil my potential inevery possible moment. I writee-books, edit a magazine andcontribute to all kinds ofpublications – and if I’m knockedback, I now try to pick myself backup immediately. I entered a writingcompetition the other week, butfailed to make the shortlist. I gavemyself minutes to deal with it,and then I got on with workingeven harder at the next project.Needless to say, I do burn out andsometimes I end up crashing. That’s when I wish I could justgivemyself a break.’

Wealwaysjudgeourselvesmoreharshly

thanwejudgeotherpeople

on ourselves and I think that the most

important thing is to try somethingbefore you tell yourself that you can’tdo it. Have faith in yourself, and if

you have a passion, follow it.’For life coach Jo Westwood,

28, it’s easier said than done. ‘Myfirst business as a textile designercompletely failed because I didn’ttake any risks,’ she explains. ‘I wasjust too scared to go for the businessmodelthatI’dcomeupwith– even thoughit woulddefinitely haveworked– becauseit wouldhavemeant investinga lotof money ingetting otherpeopleto help memanufacturemydesigns. I totally bottled it,andendedup workingmyselfintotheground because

I was so scared of really messing upand losing the money.

‘In the end, I just couldn’t keep up,and I had to give myself a deadline of

when my business had to work by,’ Jorecalls. ‘And eventually I did have toclose the door on it altogether. Butadmitting that I had failed was so hard

– I felt like other people would bethinking, “Oh, she couldn’t do it.” So,

when it came to starting afresh andtrying something new, it was evenmore difficult to trust in my ownabilities and put myself out there.’

Psychologist Judi James isn’tsurprised. ‘We’re all trying to be tooperfect,’ she says. ‘I think there’s a lotof pressure on women to avoid makingmistakes – there’s the constant feelingthat you’ve got to be twice as good aseveryone else at something, otherwise

you shouldn’t be doing it. But if youavoid risk, you often avoid beingcreative. Every process that has everled to success has involved some levelof failure along the way, and we have tolearn to see that as a positive thing.’

Jo now runs her own life-coachingclinic in Nottingham. ‘Thankfully,I’ve managed to get my FOMUunder control with the help of afew life-coaching techniques that Iusually teach my clients,’ she explains.‘I try to see myself from the outsidein – we always judge ourselves moreharshly than we judge other people,so I try to imagine what my friends

would think of my actions. Similarly,if I’m feeling scared about my career,or starting a family, or something elsethat I reckon I could “mess up”, I tryto think of the alternatives. It invariablyreveals that even though I might beafraid of taking the next step towardssomething, not doing it would bemuch, much worse.’

Zosia agrees: ‘If it doesn’t work out, itdoesn’tworkout–butyoutried.I thinkthat’s thekey.’

Really? What else would we besurprised to find on your iPod?Probably S Club 7. But whodoesn’t love them?Would you ever have joined a group? There’s a video on YouTube ofme singing Royals with the threeRudimental singers, Becky, Sineadand Ann Marie. But I’m too controllingto be in a girl group – all my songsare really personal to me, so I’d hateto share them.Comeback is a pretty ballsy single...I was 16 and slightly immature whenI wrote that, hence the swearing.People are just getting to know meas a solo artist and I think they want

to listen to lyrics from the heart. I lovesingers like Adele, who is so true andreal. When you’re that angry and thatpassionate about a situation, when

you’ve been f****d over by someonethat you care about, sometimes youjust need to say it out loud.Hell yeah! What can we expectfrom next year’s album? It’s got vulnerable moments. Likeeveryone, I have down momentsand points where I don’t feel likeI can cope, so I’ve written aboutthat. But I don’t like things to be

too soft. Even if I’m making a sadpoint I like it to be quite poignantand direct.Waiting All Night is months oldbut still gets played everywhere.Does that surprise you? It’s amazing. I loved that song as soonas I heard it. It’s infectious as hell butI still never knew it would have thatkind of impact on the music industry.I don’t skip it when it comes on theradio, it’s nice to hear it!What’s life like on your tour?My band and I pray before we go on

Oriental Blooms Whether on a jumpsuit or

chic dress, Oriental prints werebig news in Paris this season.Fluid and pretty, a knit and

a pair of boots are all you needto make this look totally

autumn ready.

‘It’ ZipsFrom Roland Mouret tothe star-studded Balmainshow in Paris, the zip wasthe detail of choice forspring/summer 2015. Itlooks especially cool when

worn on a skirt, like atBalmain, but it works ona top or a dress too. Plus,it’s an office-to-bar nobrainer. Team witha coordinating colourfor maximum impact.

Sleeveless Blazer A sleeveless blazer will ensure anything you

wear to the office looks super smart. Try mixingit with separates. A royal-blue, silk shirt will add

a pop of colour, as will a pair of dark floraltrousers. Fun and functional? Double tick.

Tailor MadeTake a little inspiration from Dior’s runwayand try a sharp-fitting suit in a bold shade. A graphic top and burgundy accessories

break up the forest green and adda sophisticated edge.

Red Letter Day Give a classic dress a modern update with

a splash of colour. Red is guaranteed toget you noticed, but the modest cut of this

one keeps it sophisticated. Wear with simpleaccessories for a polished look.

SAM SAYS: I’m obsessed with hot-cloth cleansers. They’rea great way of removing every last scrap of dirt and make-up whilst giving skin a gentleexfoliation at the same time. They’re much more effectivethan just rinsing your face witha splash of water – plus the heatfrom the cloth opens up pores fora really deep clean. I love thistype of cleanser, especiallyduring colder months, to stopmy skin looking flaky and grey.

Superdrug’s Naturally RadiantBrightening Hot Cloth Cleanseris ideal for skin in need ofa radiance boost. The kiwifruit and mulberry extracts, combined with the nourishingcocoa butter left my cheeksplumped and the overalltexture of my skin seriouslysoft.

EMMA SAYS: When it comes to cult skincareproducts, micellar water is a new kid on theblock that’s proving very popular. It’s a specialwater cleanser that carefully removes dirt, impurities and every last speck of make-upwithout leaving you red and blotchy. It’s supergentle, so perfect for those with sensitive skin.

Superdrug’s version is a great way to dip intothe new product trend without spending afortune. It has a nice, subtle smell and doesn’tdry out the skin. Plus it contains ingredientslike horse chestnut, which is soothing, andvitamin E, which protects the skin from freeradicals. It also removes excess oil, helps tounblock pores and leaves you with a glowingcomplexion – amazing or what!

I like to apply it to the skin with cotton wool, give it a swoop over cheeks and eyes and reapthe refreshing skin rewards.

EMMA SAYS: This sponge is amazing for gentle exfoliating. It’s eco-friendly and made of natural vegetable fibres. I like tosoften the sponge with water and rub it on skin in circularmovements to get rid of dead skin and unblock my pores.

I use it every morning in the shower and it has a silky

texture that feels really nice. Because it’s alkaline, ithelps to keep the skin’s pH inbalance and leaves my facefeeling thoroughly cleansedand supple. Although youcan use the sponge witha cleanser, it works perfectlywell just with water so it’sgreat for those withsensitive skin. My -year-old daughter, who hashighly sensitive skin, hasbeen using it with noflare-ups at all. It’s a brilliant

natural way to keep yourskin fresh and healthy.

Flirty Fragrance What I look for in a perfume:I want a fragrance that’s versatile so I can wear it forany occasion. That’s whyI genuinely love Gucci Guilty. It has a fresh, floral side, butalso patchouli and pink

pepper, which gives it a kick. It’s sweet but spicy, so you can go fromday to night. It fits my dual personality. Why a signature scent is important:Everyone associates smells with aperson or an experience; I like to have

If I need to go fromday to night quickly, I’ll just smudgeBenefit’s BadGal Liner around my eyes, then add shimmer to the inner corners. If I’m looking a little tired:I’ll use Benefit’s Eye Bright Pencil alongthe waterline of my eyes.My celeb beauty inspiration is:Tilda Swinton. I love androgyny. I alsothink Salma Hayek is one of the mostbeautiful women, probably becauseshe’s completely opposite to me!I never leave home without:My Chanel mascara. I can go prettymuch make-up-free apart from that.My autumn make-up trend is:Dark-redlips.Iloveautumnalcolours.

Fleur: ‘I’ve Finally StartedTo Appreciate My Curls’The last time you were on The X Factor (in ) you were with girl group

Addictive Ladies, but it seems you weredestined to be a solo star all along…I never really had the confidence tobelieve I could do it by myself before.I always thought I’d be in a band andhave the safety net of others aroundme. It was only a couple of years ago

when I thought: ‘No, I need to dothis on my own.’If you hadn’t been allocated Simonas your mentor, who would beyour first choice?Cheryl. From the beginning, she wasthe one judge who understood me.

She said: ‘There’s something about you, you have something.’ She gotmy vibe, so it would definitely be her. We’re all in love with your hair!

You know what, I didn’t always

appreciate what I had. When I was younger I used to straighten it to

get rid of the curls, but as I gotolder I realised that letting myhair free was a way of being myself.I guess it’s my trademark now, butit’s just my natural hair – I comb itout in the shower then let it drynaturally. That’s it!

You’ve got awesome style– what’s your go-to shop?Zara, I love Zara! I follow high-enddesigners, like Versace, Balenciagaand Giuseppe Zanotti, and whenI go into Zara I see pieces inspiredby those catwalks. People always

ask where I got my clothes. You love crop tops that show offyour killer abs, right? How didyou get your six-pack?[Laughs] I work really hard! I makesure I’m in the gym five or six timesa week, running on the treadmill, and doing squats or crunches ononeof those big exercise balls. Luckily,I don’t have much of a sweet tooth,so eating well is pretty easy.Have you left a boyfriend behindto join the X Factor house? There could be a specialsomeone [laughsnervously] but I’m keepingthat locked away in thebackground for now…

Before getting into TV I studiedbusiness.I dreamed of creating a labeland having stores in everycountry! I travelled fora couple of years to getsome inspiration, but whenI came back, life took me ina different direction.

It’s been a madrun, but I love it.I did personal shopping andstarted a fashion blog for TheIndependent and, from that,I started doing TV. I’ve justnished a documentaryseries and a travel show.

I’m lucky I get totravel so much.I don’t take it for granted andtry to learn something fromevery place I visit. It’s thepart of my job I love most. The packing, not so much!

My favouritedesigner isSimone Rocha. Her pieces are incredible. On the high street, I love& Other Stories. Theyhave wonderful printsand great tailoring.
