Wow, what a term we have had! From demolition of the forest and sandpit, a new music suite, a new gate out to the field, construction of two new classrooms, a broken arm, a swimming carnival and a Magical Faraway Day! Spot the difference! One very happy Haerin! With all that going on we have also managed to do all the regular things that happen at school. In Reading this term we have learnt about the strategies; activating prior knowledge, building vocabulary, predicting and making connections. These are all different strategies we can use when we read. The main aim of using reading strategies is to help us understand what we read, which makes reading much more fun! In this term we have been super busy! We Writing revised what we knew about capital letters and full stops and are still working on this. We have learnt about the importance of making our writing interesting as it’s not always just us who read it. We know that verbs, adverbs, conjunctions, synonyms and antonyms are all parts of grammar that we can use to improve our writing. We also understand and can use prefixes and suffixes and conjunctions in our writing. We have written reflections about summer, set goals, made bucket lists, defined Love and Learning, described emotions, concocted spells, become all poetic about autumn and the rest! Oliver J, taking some time out of his busy morning to share a story with his brother – too cute!

We Writingrevised what we knew about capital letters and full stops and are still working on this. We have learnt

about the importance of making our writing interesting as it’s not always just us who read it.

In Maths we started the term by becoming Statistical Investigators. We asked questions, gathered data, displayed it and then analysed it. We have spent the rest of the term revising Addition and Subtraction strategies and learning new ones. This has really reflected in our basic facts weekly scores. Next term, we look at strategies for solving Multiplication and Division problems and Geometry. In Topic we focussed the first few weeks on ‘Learning to Learn’ which was a great way to get to know each other, get back into the swing of school routines and learn about Miss C-C’s expectations. We spent the rest of the term ‘Keeping ourselves Safe.’ This has taught us a lot about staying safe at school, in our community and at home. We asked a lot of questions and showed our understanding through play scenarios and poster design. We have begun our topic on Inventions and cannot wait to explore this more in term two. There is no doubt that Term two is going to be just as busy as Term one - just a little bit shorter! Preparations for the show will start, winter sports begin, the new classrooms will nearly be ready and we continue to learn new things. As you know, you can always keep up to date with what we have been up to by checking out the blog or popping in and having a look around.

Lastly and sadly, we say goodbye to Myckaella. Her family have built a brand new house so she will go to the school nearest her

house. We will really miss you Myckaella!

Have a safe and happy Easter and holiday break!
