Keeping our focus fixed ......

The academic session began with a Staff Orientation on

‘Creativity’ in the class room by Ms. Sonali Lahiri. The Mary

Ward School Compass was used as the yardstick to draw up

the relevant Action Plan.

The Orientations were held for the Nursery and Class XI parents respectively.

Owning and developing the charism.....

We are always happy to present an edited version of the

documentary prepared for the 175 years of Loreto in

India. Our parents much appreciated it. As is the

Loreto tradition....the Mass of the Holy Spirit was on

25th April, 2019 at St. Mary’s Church.

Being as agent of change ......

The Investiture Ceremony took place after the Holy Spirit

Mass, thus, setting the ambience for the newly elected

Student Council to take their Oath of Office.

Cultivating values needed now......

The World Earth Day was held with the theme ‘Protect the

Species”. Small initiatives like, plantation of saplings and

saving resources that would help to decrease pollution

were highlighted. We continue with our mission of planting of saplings and promote non-use of

plastics on the premises.

The World Book Day was celebrated with an interactive session on the ‘Joy of Reading‘. Activities

such as presenting a story with illustration, identifying movie characters, reading story books from

the make-shift library were conducted. Mrs. Chitralekha Bhaskar was the resource person for

Classes III to V. The ch ildren enjoyed the session with her immensely.

MARY WARD WEEK CELEBRATION

Mary Ward week was celebrated with special Assemblies

and various other activities. It was concluded with Holy

Eucharist and fellowship meal.

REPUBLIC DAY

Loreto Asansol

received the first

prize for the

March Past in the Republic Day Celebration organised by

the District Administration, Paschim Burdwan.

FAREWELL

We bid farewell to Sri Mahindra Sharma, a member of the Support Staff who served the school for

36 years.

SOCIAL SENSITIZATION–The students visited Asha

Niketan & Nirmal Hriday and the Blind School.

VISIT TO HAZARIBAGH –

The Catholic students had the priviledge of visiting the

tomb of Mother Delphine Hart in Hazaribagh.

PARENT ORIENTATION -

The orientation for the parents of Nursery and Class XI was

held in April, 2019.

BLESSING OF THE SCHOOL & HOLY SPIRIT MASS

It was a solemn occasion and prayers and blessings were

bestowed on everyone.

INVESTITURE CEREMONY

The Investiture Ceremony was held in April 2019, The

Captains pledged to carry out the responsibilities entrusted

to them.

RECYCLE ACTIVITY FOR EARTH DAY

Recycle Activity for Earth Day was organised in April. The children made paper packets. These

will be given to the needy shop owners to discourage them from using polythene packets.

CROWNING OF OUR LADY

Mother Mary is the Patron of our schools. Our Lady was crowned by the Head Girl and offered

prayers.

SUPPORT STAFF DAY

The senior school gathered on 2nd May 2019 to honour and pray for our Support Staff.

NEWS FROM NISCORT

A student writes:

Life has been great exciting and hectic with projects assignments and college activities. From the

college we had been for outdoor shooting at Indian Telephone

Industry (ITI) in Mankapur township of Gonda district of Uttar

Pradesh. It was an enriching experience for me. The township is

also known as Sanchar Vihar Colony, (March 16th to 20th2019).

Under the guidance of Mr. Sabu Koshy, Assistance Professor for

Audio Visual Communication, we the students prepared

questionnaires for the interviews, planned for shooting segments

and selected locations for documenting bytes. It was an exciting

segment with a lot of scope for being creative.

The first visit was to Chini Mill,Mankapur. This segment was

assigned to me, it was our first experience in directing the shots

and working in the group. I was fortunate to get to interview the

General Manager, the Marketing Manager, the HR and the labour Union leader. It was a great

learning as I was in the field.

We met the King of Mankapur, Mr Kunwar Singh, who is a former MLA and one of the founding

fathers of the ITI. We also got a chance to visit Ayodhya, the birth place of Lord Ram, and do a

shooting assignment. Some more important projects are coming on the way. I will be going to

Kerala for my internship to Goodness Channel after the Province Assembly.

MATILDA LAKRA

LORETO PUSHPA VIDYALAYA, LUCKNOW

These are our 1st batch of Class X U.P.

Board. Eleven children appeared for the

Class X Exam and all of them passed in

First Division. This is a dream come true

for Pushpa Vidyalaya. There are eighteen

children in our next batch of class X. I hope

this will be an incentive for them to work

hard and do well also.

We congratulate our teachers who taught

class X for they really worked very hard to

achieve this success.

Event List for the Month of April and May 2019

Time flies like wind, it is like tomorrow we started working together and its 5 years completion. We marked the occasion celebrating with the entire KMWSC family at each project and office on 12th June 2019. At the office, we had a short celebration program with prayer, games, good cultural program, music and lunch. We also observed this celebration with the beneficiaries in different projects. The beneficiaries spent the day with drawing completion, cultural program, music and good food. The community people came forward and congratulated the project team for the anniversary.

We took this time to thank all our funders, well wishers and friends for supporting us through this journey of 5 years.

Labour Day Crowning of Our Lady

On 3rd

May, the Catholic girls of our school

assembled for the “Crowning of Our Lady” in a mass

conducted by Father Rogers and Father Soosai.

Investiture Ceremony

On the 8th of May, the post of the newly elected Student Council was

officially announced as they received their badges and took the oath.

Networking at the Source Location-Brick Field School

Brick field school project staff went to Nawada, Bihar for 5 days for advocacy and networking with International Union

against Tuberculosis, Kailash Satyarthi Foundation and Bihar State Child Labour Commission for government identity proof, skill development, mainstreaming to school and labour card for our beneficiaries.

Kolkata Mary Ward Social centre conducted a follow up Convergence meet with some like minded NGOs like CINI, Caritas, TDH, Project Mukti (Brick Field Projectt) For Towards Future & Emmanuel Ministries Calcutta to create an opportunity for us to

work collaboratively towards the safe migration and provision according to policies for the Brickfield labourers and their families.
