Children's book author Remy Charlip will be on hand at
Montalvoon April 4 to help the center bring his book A Perfect
Day'to life.

gives us ideas ofwhat could encapsulate the per-fect day.". The
event, which takes Placefrom l-l-a.m. to 4 p.m.,will featuremany
activities inspired by thebook, such as docent-led walksaround the
Montalvo grounds,observing nature; picnics by theVilla; watercolor
painting with anexperienced artist; and perform-ances by two local
dance compa-nies-AXIS Dance Co. and Joan-na Haigood's Zaccho
DanceThe-ater-who will present "house-hold dances" dreamt up by
Char-lip himself, such as "Dance in ADoorway," "Dance in A Bed"
and'Armchair Dance."
Many of Charlip's drawings andillustrations will be exhibited,
andCharl ip himself wi l l be on hand tosign copies of his books,
whichlocal store Hickleebee's Chil-dren's Books wil l be on hand
tosell and lead storytimes with.'Art and creativity can be
foundanywhere; that is the sprit Remyholds true," Lazar says. I
feel thatkind of spirit is always encouragedand always good for
children, toknow they can make things out ofsimple materials and
share themwith family and friends, or canlook at something as
natural as atree and make up an entire dancearound the movements of
the tree.So, we hope the community willjoin us on this special day.
