SE JUNIOR B FOOTBALL LEAGUE
Valley Rovers 2-09 V’s Carrigaline 1-15
Valley Rovers Junior B Footballers took on Carrigaline in
the South-East league on Thursday night in Carrigaline.
In the opening quarter it was the home side that had
most of play but on the score board it was 0-3 each with
the Valleys points coming from Shane O'Leary, Bill
Hawkes and Shaun Crowley. Into the second quarter the
home side got the opening goal of the game in the 17th
minute of the game Valleys responded with a point
from Scott Deane after good build up play from Ben
Murphy, Michael Crowley and Chris Hayes, Carrigaline
had most of the play and lead at half time by 1-9 to 0-5
with the Valleys point coming from Chris Hayes after a
good pass from Tasso Diaz. Into the second half it was
Valleys who made the better start. A Shane O'Leary goal
from a penalty after Brendan Lynch had been fouled.
points from Colm Butler and Shane O'Leary reduced the
Carrigaline lead to two points. The home side upped
their game kicking two points . Valleys scored their
second goal from Scott Deane after a pass from Tasso
Diaz. Both sides then kicked two points each with the
Valleys points coming from Shaun Crowley and Chris
Hayes. Valleys kept trying til the end but could not get
an equalizer. Two Carrigaline points in injury time left
the full time score Valley Rovers 2-9 Carrigaline 1-15.
Despite the result this was a very good performance
from every player. Special Mention must also go to
Tasso Diaz (Pictured below) who was appearing for the
first time in a Valley Rovers jersey. Tasso, a native of
Brazil . Playing his first game made a telling
contribution being involved a lot of the good thing
Valleys did during the game. All his new team mates
gave him a round of applause after the match in
recognition of his performance .

CAMOGIE
U14 County Camogie League Round 2
Ballinora 6-04 Valley Rovers 3-01
Teams: Ballinora v Valley Rovers
Venue: Waterfall
Date: 24 Apr 2017
The Play: Valley Rovers travelled to play Ballinora in
their latest under 14 A camogie league fixture. Valleys
were without four regular players but put up a whole
Page 3 of 6
hearted performance against a talented & very
sporting Ballinora side. Ballinora started the better &
took a commanding first half lead 3-3 to 1-0. The
second half was a great battle and Valleys scored two
early goals to get within five points but Ballinora
scored two late goals to secure the win. Full credit to
the Valley Rovers girls who gave it their all on a very
wet & cold night in Waterfall.

Next up: Valley Rovers play in the féile in Enniskeane
next Saturday.
Camogie Féile 2017
Competition: Féile Camogie ‘A’ Group stage,
Venue : Enniskeane
Date: 29/4/17
Teams: Enniskeane, Valley Rovers, Éire Óg,
Aghabullogue, Ballinora
Matches: Valleys played a very entertaining draw
versus Enniskeane in their first game and were very
unlucky not to get the win here . In the second Game,
Ballinora had too much firepower and ran out winners
by four points. Our third match was against
Aghabollogue, an injury to Fiona Twohig spurred
Valleys into action and ran out deserved winners to
leave us needing a win in our last game to qualify for
Camogie A Finals – Unfortunately it wasn’t to be, as
the injurys to Fiona & Laoise Collins along with a heavy
schedule of four games without a break resulted in a
tired performance in the last match against a strong
Éire Óg side who ran out worthy winners.
Result: Enniskeane & Éire Óg progress to the final on
Sunday in Castle road, a tiring but enjoyable day in wet
conditions was had by all. Thanks to the parents,
coaches & especially the girls for giving us great
entertainment. Unfortunately Rebecca Lordan was
unable to play & Clionadh Prendergast was injured
during our midweek game.
Panel: R Dawkins (Captain), L Collins, C Flynn, O O’

JUVENILE
UNDER 12’s
With only the C3’S in action over the weekend, we
welcomed Inniscarra to Brinny in a football league
fixture on Sunday afternoon.
Valleys played with the wind in the first half and
started strong by getting an early goal, Valleys
continued to take some excellent scores which was
enough to take a lead into half time.
In the second half Inniscarra came out strong playing
with the wind, as in the first half Inniscarra looked
dangerous on the break taking some excellent points,
but an excellent defensive display from Valley Rovers
combined with some excellent scores. It was Valley
Rovers took the win in the end.
Final Score Valley Rovers 2-5 Inniscarra 0-06
