TheMerrifield Suburban CenterTask Force meets for the firsttime tomorrow (Tuesday)night at 7 p.m. in the InovaConference Center at 3225 Gallows Road. The group is tasked withdeveloping recommendations for the land surrounding the interchangeon three sides. At the July 31 meeting, the Fairfax County Board ofSupervisors initiated a process to review land use for 203 acres ofland in the vicinity. Mixed-use office, hotel, and residential are all beingconsidered as potential choices for development.

The schoolboard considers impactstatements for residential developments in the county that includeprojected student enrollment numbers. Those statements are reviewedby the county's planning commission and the board of countysupervisors as they consider project requests.

10/23/2018 If all goes according to plan,Prince William County willhouse the largest solar farm inthe Washington, D.C. region by2020. That's when VirginiaSolar, a Henrico County-basedfirm, plans to completeconstruction on the county's firstsolar farm, which is slated for a331-acre parcel near NokesvillePark along Warrenton Road. The site is near the Prince William-Fauquier county line. The land has been in Virginia Lee DixonMcIntosh's family for more than 100 years. During a Oct. 16 meetingof the Prince William Board of Supervisors, McIntosh said she nolonger wants to own or take care of her land, but she does want toconserve it.
US 1 Widening Likely to Change DumfriesInsideNOVA, Emily Sides10/28/2018 As the Virginia Department ofTransportation continuesdesigning how to widen U.S. 1to six lanes through Dumfries,property owners are concernedabout how the project will affectbusinesses along the road afterVDOT purchases the rights ofway. More than 120 peopleattended VDOT's public hearing Oct. 18 to learn more and give inputon the project design. The public can submit comments on the designuntil Nov. 2.
