Louie e Gomez Reyes born on May 30, 1940. He was born in Torrance, California. Hecame from a very strict Catholic family where on Sundays, no one was allowed to

leave the house. Sunday was a day to spend with the family, which was quite large andincluded eight boys, and his eight sisters. They only spoke Spanish when at home. Louie

wanted to join the Air Force, however he couldn’t due to health issues. Louie’s first and onlyjob was as a truck driver. He loves motorcycles and racing. He enjoys being part of the Grand Prix in Long Beachevery year. Louie wants to thank God for his two beautiful daughters and his wonderful ex-wife. CongratulationsLouie on being our Resident of the Month for October.

Eugene and Imalee have been married for over seventy years. They’ve always beeninseparable and enjoy doing activities together. They love each other dearly and have

a large family of eight children. They’ve raised them in the nurture and admonition of theLord. Eugene was born in 1921. He served in the Army and is a World War Two veteran. Hehas always taken care of his family. Although Eugene was employed with Rockwell Aircraft, heoften worked two jobs. Eugene is described as a man of integrity, and a loving person who has always been kindto others. Eugene was also a deacon in the Pentecostal Temple Church in Compton, California. His wife Imaleewas born in 1920, and is also a very kind and loving person who is always doing good for others. She was amissionary in the same church as Eugene. Apart from raising her children, she worked hard all her life visiting thesick and working with the young people in their church and teaching in Sunday School. She served as a districtmissionary for many years. She was even a foster parent for over fifteen kids. Eugene and Imalee are a lovingexample of a true happy and fulfilling strong marriage. Congratulations to them on being named our residents ofthe month for October.

The first state to make Columbus Day an official holiday wasColorado in 1905. It became a federal holiday in the United Statesin 1937, although people have celebrated Columbus’s voyagesince the colonial period.
