JULY 30, AUGUST 1 AND 3 / 8 P.M.
Sung in English, French, Michif and Cree with French and English surtitles.
Hero, traitor, or martyr? This opera tells the story of controversial Métis leader Louis Riel and the saga of how Western Canada was won. Composed by Harry Somers for the centenary of Confederation in 1967, we are bringing back the production in celebration of the 50th anniversary of its creation. A wonderful opportunity to take a trip back into our fascinating history and learn about a figure able to spark polarizing debate still to this day.
