A Message from the Executive Director Retirement from a beloved ministry Dear Love INC Supporter: It is with deep consider- ation and somewhat great elation that I have decided to retire from my position as Executive Director of Love INC of North Oakland County, effective July 25, 2014—a position that I have held since March 1, 2007. I have never had a job that I loved more than the one that I am leaving. I feel that the stability of Love INC has never been better than it is now with having very capable leadership in the Clearinghouse with Rose Pond and Jenny Hoder at the helm, along with some awesome volunteers. We have a fairly new Board of Directors who have been going through extensive training in the past few months and are dedicated to the Love INC Movement. We have recently hired a part time Transformational Coor- dinator, Pastor Greg Sterns, who has a passion and a great vision that will carry us forth into the next phase as we de- velop new ministries to do what God has intended us to do as we liſt up individuals from their cycle of dependency into a new realization of self-worth and on a pathway to self-sus- tainability. He is also committed, along with the Board of Directors, to the transforming power of God in the people in our affiliate churches who are stepping up to serve their neighbors with the giſts and talents they possess. I am looking forward to being able to spend more time with my family and am looking at new opportunities to serve, but in a different way. We are currently in the process of seeking an individual to fill my position and ask that you keep our affiliate in your prayers as our interviewing committee seeks just the right individual to carry out the work of Love In the Name of Christ. I would like to thank you for all that you have done to sup- port our ministries at Love INC and ask that you continue to support Love INC of North Oakland County by your prayers, your giſts and your service. I am requesting that in lieu of giſts, that you think and pray about donating to our affiliate, which now includes the beginning chapters of the Transformational Ministry Program. We look forward to including more people in this important work. You may send your contribution to: Love INC of NOC P.O. Box 104, Lake Orion, MI 48361 Many thanks to everyone who took the time to send a card, or make a donation. May God bless you and those whom you serve in His Name. A Message from the Executive DirectorRetirement from a beloved ministryDear Love INC Supporter:

It is with deep consider-ation and somewhat great elation that I have decided to retire from my position as Executive Director of Love INC of North Oakland County, effective July 25, 2014—a position that I have held since March 1, 2007. I have never had a job that I loved more than the one that I am leaving.

I feel that the stability of Love INC has never been better than it is now with

having very capable leadership in the Clearinghouse with Rose Pond and Jenny Hoder at the helm, along with some awesome volunteers.

We have a fairly new Board of Directors who have been going through extensive training in the past few months and are dedicated to the Love INC Movement.

We have recently hired a part time Transformational Coor-dinator, Pastor Greg Sterns, who has a passion and a great vision that will carry us forth into the next phase as we de-velop new ministries to do what God has intended us to do as we lift up individuals from their cycle of dependency into a new realization of self-worth and on a pathway to self-sus-tainability. He is also committed, along with the Board of Directors, to the transforming power of God in the people in our affiliate churches who are stepping up to serve their neighbors with the gifts and talents they possess.

I would like to thank you for all that you have done to sup-port our ministries at Love INC and ask that you continue to support Love INC of North Oakland County by your prayers, your gifts and your service.

I am requesting that in lieu of gifts, that you think and pray about donating to our affiliate, which now includes the beginning chapters of the Transformational Ministry Program. We look forward to including more people in this important work. You may send your contribution to: Love INC of NOC P.O. Box 104, Lake Orion, MI 48361

Many thanks to everyone who took the time to send a card, or make a donation. May God bless you and those whom you serve in His Name.

Introducing Greg Sterns Our first Transformational Ministry Coordinator

Greg Sterns came to us in March, 2014 as the Transformational Ministry Coordinator, a new position at Love INC of North Oakland County. Greg retired from the Oakland County Treasurer’s Office this March. He had

served as the Chief of Tax Administration, overseeing the collection of delin-quent property taxes. Prior to working at the Treasurer’s office, Greg was the Manager of Financial Education and Counseling for Lighthouse Community Development. He developed financial education to assist individuals in prop-erly handling their finances. He worked primarily with low to moderate income families, helping them budget, rebuild credit and pay down debt. Greg also served for 15 years as a senior pastor with the Christian and Missionary Alliance. Currently, Greg works part time at Grace Centers of Hope in Pontiac where he serves as the financial counselor.

In his position at Love INC, Greg will be developing the budgeting and financial ministry. In addition, he will work closely with local churches regarding their involvement with Love INC.

“I am excited to be part of a ministry that brings the Church together so that the lives of people can be transformed by Christ,” Greg said.

T he Matching Challenge Is Back!

A group of Christian busi-nesswomen are again challenging donors to

match their contribution to Love INC.

For every dollar you give, they will match, up to a total of $3,000. That's

right, a dollar-for-dollar match. If you give Love INC $50, your $50 will be matched, so you are really blessing Love INC with double the amount. Last year Love INC received over $6,000 as a result of this challenge!

This matching chal-lenge starts Septem-ber 15, 2014 and con-tinues until November 30.

You can give online through our website: www.loveincofnoc.org or mail your check today to Love INC of North Oakland Coun-ty, PO Box 104, Lake Orion, MI 48361.

Come support our Fundraiser September 20th at Golling Buick GMC! Volunteers are still needed so please contact Love INC if you are available to assist with this event.

A LOVE Story

One of our neighbors contact-ed us almost five months ago scared, discouraged and

depressed. He was in a difficult place with health problems, in fear of losing his part-time job and facing mounting financial problems. He was in need of rent and medical help.

Not being able to afford his med-ication, having the flu and being constantly threatened with losing his job if he missed work plunged him deeper into depression. He was already in a lopsided budget situation due to only being able to get part-time work. He wanted more work but was inhibited by his past. He just didn’t know what to do. He was lonely due to working nights which isolated him and he had no family or friends nearby to support him.

He did end up losing his job, but he continued to hang in there and we continued calling him, and together we kept the communication open. We referred him to the Stephen Ministry and got him help with his medication need.

He was diligent in his employment search and didn’t give up. After a few months he did obtain almost full-time employment, and we just recently heard that he received a promotion. Some of our partner churches were able to help with his rent situation. He is in a better place financially, is less isolated and very thankful. We will continue to follow-up with him, encourage him and pray for him.

Meet our newest Board MembersDeb LaskoDeb was appointed to the Board of Directors in June 2013. Deb is a parishoner at Christ the Redeemer Catholic Church in Lake Orion and thoroughly enjoys her role as a Music

Minister to the community. She came to Love INC as someone need-ing the spiritual guidance from the Transi-tions pro-gram during a difficult and lengthy

transition between jobs. It was during this period that she realized just how God works through all of us that she became a volunteer receptionist at the Clearinghouse in order to assist "neighbors" through their own transi-tion periods. Deb's educational high-lights include a Bachelor of Science degree in Marketing from Oakland University and a recent certificate in Business Analysis from Global Infor-mation Technology. She has over 25 years in the Information Technolo-gy field, which includes retail and corporate software sales, marketing, training, software development and system administration. Deb is cur-rently employed by General Motors.

Tom KorleskiTom joined the Board in the spring of 2014. He and his wife Cheryl are members of Christ the King Church in Oxford. Tom grew up in the Roman Catholic Church and began attending non-denominational, Bible-based churches in his 20’s as a young married man with a growing family. Working full time as a plastics engi-neer and business owner, and moving a young family around the country provided the backdrop for Tom and Cheryl’s search for a more real, personal and meaningful relationship with Jesus. Over the years, Tom has served as a deacon, a Bible school teacher, a small group leader, a volunteer for shelters in various ca-pacities and other short-term mission activities. Tom has a BS in Mechanical Engineering and 25 years experi-ence in the plastics industry in sales, marketing and engineering. Tom has owned and operated construction and related businesses for several years. Tom is currently employed by Washington Penn Plastic Company.

Our first Artist & Vendor Show to benefit Love INC NOC was held at Christ the King Church after Easter. It was a wonderful event and brought a breath of fresh air to our long-awaited spring. Look for news of next year’s event this coming winter.

Help Wanted

Love INC is looking for Christ-centered individuals who feel led to share their

time and gifts to help in ministry. At present we could use help in our Little Luxuries personal care ministry at Christ the King Church in Oxford. We also need help with upcoming fund-raisers and event coordination. If you are feeling God’s call to help in any of these areas, please call our Clear-inghouse at 248-693-4357 to register for our next Volunteer Orientation in which you will learn more about Love in the Name of Christ and our minis-try needs.
