Dempsey & Carroll were printers and this book seems to have been issued to
advertise their work and solicit printing of invitations etc., pp. 78-126 list 36
Society Weddings in New York & other northern U.S. cities, including an Astor
and Harriman. There are several plates of steel engraved invitations presumably to
advertise their work. A curious little book. Some soiling to covers, near fine.

Tall narrow 8vo., illustrated paper boards, (58)pp. Name, bookplate, o/w near fine
in two dustwrappers with light wear. A curious example in two publisher’s
dustwrappers which both differ from the pictorial boards. Both dustwrappers have
circular cut-outs that reveal illustration on the upper board. The first dustwrapper
copies the cover lettering but not the illustrations, and replaces the rear illustration
with a quote. The second dustwrapper has the upper cover lettering and a heart-
shaped doiley-esque onlay. A most interesting combination, the likes of which I
have never seen on any book. (See inside front cover.) $300
