A MESSAGE FROM PASTOR STEVE
Some of you know our friend Dan. Dan has an almost 4 year-old son Bodhi. Bodhi taught me something special this week. He has been able to still attend a local childcare center and in the midst of conversation with his teacher he let her know that ‘God lives in our hearts’. His teacher actually encouraged him in his thoughts and said, ‘yes, He does’.
What did Bohdi teach me? Well, in this time when everything has changed, daily practices are different, relationships take on a different shape and there is a ‘new normal’ way of doing life, new opportunities are arising. There are new opportunities for exercise, for unhurried conversation, for enhancing our marriage and family relationships through quality time spent together, playing board games, for tidying up, for gardening and for considering the most important things in life.
I also understand many of you are still working – and working very hard. I also know that some of you have little children, or restless teens. And yet even for you I suspect this ‘new normal’ will allow you to consider some different ways of doing things too.
There are wonderful opportunities for renewing spiritual disciplines like praying – praying alone, praying together, praying on-line. There is opportunity for extended time in the Word of God
Please avail yourself to this opportunity.
There are extended opportunities for telling others about God, about what He is doing for you and what He would do for that other person. Others will be listening to what we are saying I believe. Our community will want to know there is hope for the future, and purpose, despite the uncertainties of the moment.

And guess what! Bodhi, in his innocence, decided it was natural to tell his teacher at daycare – he calls it ‘school’ – that God lives in our hearts.
Friends, we can echo Bodhi’s words and take up the opportunities that arise to demonstrate the reality of a Living God in our hearts; that God is vitally engaged in our lives, that He truly lives, and that He cares – He cares deeply – for our welfare and that of your neighbours, family, friends, shopkeepers, the guy at the petrol station, emergency responders and medical people. He cares. Bodhi is being a missionary and an encourager of hearts at ‘school’.
So as we commence a new week, make the most of every opportunity arising from this ‘great inconvenience’ that we all feel at present.
We hope you have been enjoying Suburban’s Livestream Sunday worship service at 10am. Invite others to join us there. How timely that pastor Tim is taking us through the Lord’s Prayer – right into the heart of Jesus as He enables us to go directly to the Father’s throne.Join us too at 11am on Wednesday for our coffee and devotions time which is also being streamed.Have you been able to link up with a digital Gospel Community? If you are not a part of a midweek group, you are invited to these as well. Let us know. And if there are practical needs we can help you with please reach out to the church via email or phonecall.
Blessings to each of you,Pastor Steve

“This prayer is not so much a petition that God will do some great act that will show everyone who and what he is, as a prayer that he will bring people to a proper attitude toward him. It expresses an aspiration that he who is holy will be seen to be holy and treated throughout his creation as holy.”
