1 Overview

1.1 Introduction

This document gives the guidance on how to install Quanta devices driver and

Connection Manager. The LI170 LTE LGA Module (hereinafter referred to as the LI170)

supports LTE Category 3 state-of-the-art software defined radio OFDMA technology.

Through connection manager, user can connect to network and modify setting of

device. Network information such as downlink and uplink data rate can also be

checked. The detailed operation of connection manager will be introduced.

2 Use Environment

Quanta LI170 device supports Windows XP, Windows Vista (32 bit), and Windows 7 (32 bit)

operating system. It’s recommended to install Quanta LI170 software in Windows 7 32-bit OS.

2.1 Uninstallation In order to install latest version of software, uninstallation of previous version is required, including drivers, connection manager, and corresponding software tools.

2.1.1 Windows 7

1. Please click

StartProgramsQuanta QuantaLCM

Uninstall

2. Please click “Uninstall” button.

3. Please wait a few seconds to complete uninstallation.

4. Please click “Close” button.

5. Please reboot your computer after you have completed the uninstallation.

2.2 Installation of drivers

2.2.1 Windows 7

1. Please double click on “QuantaLCM.exe” to

start installation.

2. Please click “Next ” button.

3. Please click “Install” button.

4. It will take a few minutes to complete

installation.

6. Please click “Finish” button to install driver.

If driver is already installed, following steps

can be skipped. Uncheck “Install Driver.”

7. Please wait when installing driver.


9. Please click “Install this driver software anyway .”

The window will appear several times.

Please accept all the installation.

10. Please click “Finish” button to complete

driver installation.

11. Continue to install Python. Please click

“Next” button.

12. Please click “Next ” button to install.

13. Please plug in Quanta device and please

wait for a while to detect device.

14. Check if driver status is ok. Then click “Close” button.

It will take longer time for Quanta device to

be ready for the first time. If no response,

please reset Quanta device again (unplug

and plug in the USB cable.)

15. Installation is completed.

3 Operation of Connection Manager

3.1 Basic Configuration

1. In order to get information from our

connection manager, it’s mandatory to configure as the following instructions.

2. Please click

StartProgramsQuantaConnection

Manager.

3. Check if red icon turns into yellow icon.

If Yes Device is detected successfully. Go

If No Check if device is detected properly.

Please unplug and plug-in the device again.

Re-install the package and check if driver is

installed properly.

4. Please check if connection manager shows device information correctly like the figure.

3.2 Connect to PLMN

1. In order to connect to PLMN from our connection manager, please follow the instructions.

Please check if PLMN detected like the

figure. Click on “Connect” button.

2. Please wait for a while. It may take several seconds to connect to PLMN.

Do not unplug device in connection

progress. Please restart the program if

device is plugged out.

3. After connection is established, you can see related information like the figure. Yellow icon on title bar turns into green.

4. If need to disconnect form PLMN, please click on “Disconnect” button. It will take several seconds to finish.

3.3 Mode Switch

1. Please click on “Mode” and select

“Change to Commercial Mode” or “Change

to Developer Mode.”

Commercial ModeDeveloper Mode will

need to input password “1234”

Developer ModeCommercial Mode will

switch directly.

Commercial mode provides basic function

for normal use.

Developer mode offer more function for

development , including SIM simulator and

etc.

2. Please click “YES (Y)” button.

3. Please wait a few seconds for device to be ready.

3.4 Auto Connect

1. Please click on “Auto” to switch manually/automatic connecting mode. In automatic connecting mode, connection manager will connect to network when the application is launched.

*When the function is activated,

connection manager will try to connect to

network when the app is launched next

time.

3.5 Net Config

1. Please click on “Net” to switch network configuration panel.

2. Connection manager will pop out

“Extended Information” window.

3. It’s NOT mandatory to set up the “Net

Config” tab, connection manager will scan all the supported frequency bands and try to connect to the network.

*Setting in “Net Config” will only work in

developer mode. In commercial mode, the

setting will be skipped.

3.6 Info

1. Please click on “Info” to show data and connection information. .

2. Connection manager will pop out

“Extended Information” window. It shows information of Connection Status, APN,

Transmission mode, Bandwidth, DL EARFCN, Band, PLMN and Physical Cell ID and so on.

3.7 PIN Management

1. Please click on “PIN” to show PIN management option.

2. Click on “PIN information” will pop out “PIN Information” window.

3. Please click “OK” button.

4. You also can enable PIN usage by click on ”Enable PIN.”

“PIN Enable PIN Usage”.

5. Please input correct PIN code and click “OK”

button.

3.8 AT Command

1. Please click on “AT” to show AT command window.

2. The “At Commands” window will allow you to send AT Commands sets to configure

supported functional parameters or to get supported information.

3.9 Setting

1. Enable SIM Simulator.

This option is used to simulate a virtual SIM

for verify in development mode.

SIM Simulator will be disabled in

commercial mode.

2. Device Location

For Quanta hostless device, please use “VcomPort” only. (This is default setting. Users don’t have to change the setting.)

Connection manager will get information from Quanta hostless device.

3. Device Mode

This option is to switch on/off device or to

enter “Flight Mode.”

3.10 Mobile Network

1. Please click on “Network”

2. Select Automatically Connection manager will select PLMN automatically.

3. Search Network

pop out a “PLMN Search” window. Manually select PLMN.

It’s not necessary for user to select PLMN

manually.

3.11 Help

1. Please click on “Help.”

2. AboutConnection manager will pop out a “LTE Card Info” message box.

3. It will show information of Manufacturer

IMSI number, IMEI number, Supported Bands.

4. Show VersionsConnection manager will

pop out a “Version info” message box.

5. It will show information of QuantaLCM version, Package release date, and Current firmware version.

6. Reset Connection manager will reset

device

Note. Connection manager will reconnect to

device after reset is finished. But if connection

manager does not re-connect to device, please

unplug and plug-in device to detect again.

7. Disabling Polling Connection manager will stop searching for available network and polling information. Click “Enable Polling” to resume searching and polling.

3.12 Quit

1. Click “X” will minimize the application to tray as icon.

2. Click “Quit” will close the application.

4 Troubleshooting

“Device Not Found”

If device is not detected, please unplug and plug in the device again.

Open “Hardware Manager” and check if device is detected properly. After you finish installing

driver, you should see a COM port “Gadget Serial (COM ?)” and a network device “Remote

NDIS based Internet Sharing Device

If device does not show like the figure, please re-install the package again and check if driver is

installed.
