Target Audience: System Administrators Natalie Palermo (LSU), Jean Caswell (SLU), Mike DiCarlo (LaTech), and Glenn Manino (UNO) will dis cuss custom reports and determining when you need one, how do you request one, and how does it run.

Loading Bib Records from OCLC Auditorium B Target Audience: Anyone who runs the Bib Load report Denise Repman (Delgado), Marsha Aucoin (LSU), Cathy Tije rino (SLU), and Fred Hamilton (LaTech) will discuss loading records into your catalog from OCLC, etc., via SmartPort and by using the bibload report. The different methods used by several LOUIS libraries will be discussed. Please come and share your experiences with others.

Finding Government Documents in iLink--Common Strategies and Unique Tricks

Target Audience: Government documents and reference librarians

Lori Smith (SLU), Cindi Hayes (LSU-E) and Lora Amsberryaugier (UNO) will discuss how each depository library in LOUIS uses different methods to identify their government documents in iLink. Search strategies for locating government documents will be demonstrated that should work in each library's catalog. Strategies that work only in a specific catalog will also be shown. 10:45 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. CONCURRENT SESSIONS LOUISiana Union Catalog Auditorium A Target Audience: All Lisa Stigall (LOUIS) and Marcy Stevens (LOUIS) will demonstrate how this new search interface to the Unicorn catalogs allows Z39.50 broadcast searching across both Unicorn and non-Unicorn catalogs. The upcoming Version 2.1 will also be discussed. EDI Serials Invoice Loading Auditorium B

Target Audience: System Administrators, Acquisitions Staff, Serials Staff Natalie Palermo (LSU) and Dana Taylor (LSU) will talk about LSU's experience with loading their Ebsco serials invoice using EDI. Learn what needs to be done in Unicorn prior to the load and what you need to communicate to the vendor. Authority Control Room 324 Target Audience: Catalogers and anyone who handles authority work

Mary Johns (LSU-LAW) will present an overview of authority control in Unicorn, including loading records and clean up, using WorkFlows and Marcive reports. Marie Morgan (UNO) will lead Q&A at the end of the session.

Inventory in the palm of your hand: conducting an inventory in Workflows with an handheld scanner

Target Audience: Libraries that conduct an inventory or libraries considering using inventory scanners. Kristi Lobrano (BPCC) will lead the discussion on this topic. Considering using a handheld inventory scanner? Is it right for your library? Come hear and share tips, see the steps and gather other information on using a scanner to do an inventory in Workflows.

CSA training Room 327 A CSA representative will be on hand to conduct training on their products. 12:00 p.m. – 1:00 p.m. LUNCH 1:00 p.m. – 2:15 p.m. CONCURRENT SES SIONS Cataloging Interest Auditorium A Target Audience: Users or potential users of the cataloging module Rose Powell (SUSLA), Joe McNeill (McNeese), Marie Morgan (UNO) and Marsha Aucoin (LSU) will lead an open forum to discuss how the different modules of SIRSI-Unicorn affect the workflow for catalogers with emphasis on the acquisitions module. It will be a time for sharing experiences and problems each of us may have encountered and how we solved them as we interact with staff using other SIRSI modules.

Open URL: What is it and what does it do for us? Auditorium B Target Audience: System Administrators and Reference Librarians Carla Clark (LSU-S) will do an overview of the OpenURL standard, and describe how OpenURL is being used by database vendors, OPACS, interlibrary loan applications, and other content providers. She will also talk about how SFX software is allowing libraries to control how databases and other applications link to one another. The audience is welcomed to comment and share their experiences.

Sending Serial Holdings to Ingenta Room 324 Target Audience: System Administrators Mike DiCarlo (LaTech) will discuss the custom report for extracting holdings to ftp to Ingenta for Custom Gateway of library holdings. Statewide Digital Initiatives Room 326 Target Audience: All Peggy Carter (LaTech) will discuss Camp Ruston Project, John Kelly (UNO) will discuss Frank Moore Photographs, Gerald Patout will discuss Historic New Orleans Collection and Glenda Sharbono (LSU-S) will discuss the Strand Theater Photographs.

ProQuest training Room 327 A ProQuest representative will be on hand to conduct training on their products.

2:15 p.m. – 3:30 p.m. CONCURRENT SESSIONS Overview of Unicorn 2004 and Sirsi Rooms Auditorium A Target Audience: All Greg Hathorn, Sirsi Vice President of Library Products, will highlight the features of Unicorn 2004 and give an overview of SIRSI Rooms and the Directors Workstation. Circulation Interest Auditorium B Target Audience: Circulation Staff and System Administrators Carla Clark (LSUS), Natalie Palermo (LSU) and Lisa Stigall (LOUIS) will discuss the new GUI interface for stand alone, user loads, holds, behaviors/properties, bills, and overdue notices. This is an open forum and any circulation topic can be introduced.

Creating A to Z Title Lists Room 324 Target Audience : System Administrators, Serials Librarians, or anyone from a site looking for a free alternative to SerialsSolutions or EBSCO A to Z Jeremy Landry (Nicholls ) will discuss how to consolidate the full-text title lists provided by database vendors for individual databases to create an A to Z title list for all full-text journal titles available through your library's databases using Microsoft Excel.

LOUISiana Digital Library- Scanning for Digital Libraries

Target Audience: All Pat Vince (LOUIS) and John Kelly (UNO) will discuss scanning targets and techniques. EDRS training Room 327 An EDRS representative will be on hand to conduct training on their product.

iLink Customization Auditorium A Target Audience: System Administrators Marcy Stevens (LOUIS) will review how several LOUIS sites have customized their iLink catalogs and also will show you what is new in 2003. Serials Interest Auditorium B Target Audience: Staff who are or who will be working with the serials control module Janie Branham (SLU) will lead a discussion of the benefits and drawbacks of implementing the serials control module. This informal session will offer a forum for sites currently using the module to share their experiences and ideas for future enhancements, and provide an opportunity for sites thinking about implementing the module to ask questions, voice concerns, and gain practical advice from those who have already been through the process. A list of suggested enhancements from this session will be posted to SIRSI's Serials Control Enhancements Web Forum for consideration by other SIRSI customers. Unicorn Reserves and Booking Room 324 Target Audience: Reserve Staff Floris St. Amant (LSU) and Denise Repman (Delgado) will explain how to put items on reserve and how to use Unicorn reports to manage reserve items. A custom report written by LOUIS that allows one to remove items from reserve while retaining the original record for further use will be discussed. The configuration and procedures that were used to bring the Booking Module up for Delgado will be explained. She will discuss how the module is used and which Unicorn booking reports Delgado uses. from the Web Logs Auditorium A

Target Audience: Those who are interested in Unicorn iLink OPAC usage statistics, in order to get a better idea of who is using iLink at their sites and how they are using it Glenn Manino (UNO) will explain what the iLink Web Log files contain, and how the information can be used to produce iLink statistics. A web log analysis program that was custom designed to produce iLink statistics (iLog) will be demonstrated.

Acquisitions Interest Auditorium B Target Audience: System Administrators, Acquisitions Staff, Cataloging Staff Judy Irvin (LaTech), Tonya Chustz (LSU), Natalie Palermo (LSU) and Carolyn Coco (LOUIS) will talk about topics which include an overview from Tonya Chustz of the new custom-written Detail Invoice List report, how it differs from the old Invoice Lines List Report and how it's being used; an overview of the 9XX ordering in Sirsi from Natalie Palermo, an overview of Acq. bugs which were reported and fixed in the most recent Sirsi releases; and a question and answer session with new and experienced users...topics might include Fiscal Year Rollover, how-to's, etc. Feel free to bring your questions to ask the experienced users!

LOUIS Support Room 324 Target Audience: All Lisa Stigall (LOUIS) and Marcy Stevens (LOUIS) will discuss all the various support avenues available to LOUIS members. The LOUIS web site, listservs, Web Forums, Sirsi Customer Support and Track-It are used or can be used by all LOUIS customers. Discover how to use these tools to report and investigate problems.

10:30 a.m. – 11:45 a.m. CONCURRENT SESSIONS Getting the statistics you need using SIRSI reports Auditorium A Target Audience: Anyone who wants to run statistical reports in SIRSI Jean Caswell (SLU) will lead this session. Tired of keeping manual statistics? Trying to figure out how to get the information out of SIRSI that you used to get out of NOTIS? Learn the ins and outs of SIRSI statistical reports and how to produce statistics for acquis itions, collection development, cataloging, and circulation.

iLink Searching Auditorium B Target Audience: All Selina Wang (LOUIS) and Kristi Lobrano (BPCC) will provide tips for increasing the power of your iLink searches by using strategies such as combining search terms and limiting your searches. We will also discuss the effect that your local indexing decisions can make on effective iLink searching. ILLiad Update Room 324 Target Audience: ILLiad Users, System Administrators, & Future Users Carolyn Coco (LOUIS) and Chris Oxner (LSU) will discuss the latest about ILLiad. This session is mainly for current ILLiad users as well as system administrators at the 14 sites currently using ILLiad. Topics will include information on the new ILLiad server, a general discussion of telecommunications needs for all ILLiad sites which ALL ILLiad users should be aware of, recent enhancements to the ILLiad software, a discussion of new features available, and a chance for newer ILLiad users to ask questions of more experienced users. Feel free to bring your questions to ask the experienced users! CONTENTdm: Add New Items, Edit Control Vocabulary,

Build Text and Update/delete Existing Items, and using Compound Object Editor
