Blue Hills College
Dear Parents/Guardians & Students
Last week, 27 students spent the week in
and around Canberra. They even had a day in
the snow at Thredbo! At Parliament house
they met up with their local member, Kevin
Hogan. They saw the House of Representatives
in session and our Prime Minister, Scott Morri-
son. The Australian Institute of Sport, the
CSIRO, the Museum of Australia, Canberra
Deep Space Communication Complex, Flip Out
Trampolines, Telstra Tower, the Australian
War Memorial, Royal Mint and
Questacon were all highlights
of their trip.

This term Blue Hills College we will be making our annu-al visit to the Lismore Seventh-day Adventist Church. It is a special event on our calendar and an opportunity for our students and especially our choir members to participate in the church service and share their musical talents with the congregation. Students need to be at the church at 10.30 am and should be finished by about 12 pm. The address is 44 Uralba St, Lismore. Please come and see your children in action. Everybody is wel-come to attend.
The HSC Trial exams will commence on 23 August and conclude on 29 August. An exam timetable will be for-warded this week. Please remember our HSC students in your prayers because this is a very stressful time for them.
Last week the Pre-kindy and Kindy students had the opportunity to visit their newly developed Billabong area next to the creek. They sang songs around a camp fire and were treated to some toasted marshmallows. Thanks to Mrs Parkinson and Mrs Jackson and all the parents and other helpers who helped making this a special place for the children.
The Primary Parent/Teacher interviews will be held on Tuesday, 6 August, commencing at 3:30pm to 6:30pm.
The Secondary Parent/Teacher interviews will be held on Wednesday, 7 August, commencing at 3:30pm to 6:30pm. If you wish to see your child's teacher, please book online via www.schoolinterviews.com.au using Code usgre (high school only). An instruction sheet was attached to the email sent to you to assist you with your booking. If you need another copy, please let us know.
Students who did very well at our athletics carnival will be notified if they qualified for the NCIS athletics carni-val, which is scheduled for 20 August. Mr Sekulic will forward the necessary information to all students and parents in the next few days.
All current Year 10 students who will be commencing with their Stage 6 HSC studies (Year 11 & 12) next year are invited to come and attend the Year 10 Information Night on Thursday, 22 August, at 6.30 pm.
We will be sharing the HSC expectations, discuss subject choic-es, etc. This is an important evening to get all the neces-sary infor-mation, first hand. Please plan to attend.

General School News
During the last school holiday break, Year 10 and 11 students ventured off on the annual Storm Co (Service to Others Re-ally Matters) trip in collaboration with the Lismore SDA Church. With Gods blessings, our stu-dents had a wonderful time traveling out to Toomelah where we engaged in various activities during the first week of the holi-days. Students helped run a holi-day kids club, teen sport actives, evening bonfire’s and BBQ’s, as well as participating in local com-munity Naidoc week celebrations. We are proud of our students stepping outside of their comfort zone and taking time out of their holidays to serve others.
Put this date in your diaries!! Come and join us for an unforgettable evening of music and entertainment as Blue Hills College presents “Music Around the World”. There will be something for young and old. Please bring all your family and friends.
Date: 5 September
Venue: Multi Purpose Centre
Time: 7 pm
Storm Co School Music Instrumental Program
Music lessons have been running very successfully at Blue
Hills for the last 6 months. We have a small Concert Band
made up of both primary and secondary students who are
slowly building their repertoire.
Lessons have been running with Scott Hills teaching Drums
and Percussion, Dean Doyle teaching Trumpet, Trombone
and filling in on Clarinet and Flute, Anita Carvill teaching
piano, voice, and ukulele.
We also have Stu Black who is a fabulous Guitar teacher, he
just needs some students.
I have been doing up a bunch of old Brass Band instruments
(found in an old shed at St Mary’s College in Casino) and
would like to offer group lessons to mainly Years 3 to 6 in the
following:
Cornet (short Trumpet) one group of 3.
Trumpet one group of 2.
Tenor Horn (sounds like a French Horn looks like a baby Tu-ba) one group of 3.
Baritone (same pitch as a Trombone looks like a bigger baby tuba) one group of 2.
Trombone one group of 2.
This is very exciting as I can offer these lessons with no in-strument hire.
Lessons will be $15 per week, and the Tutorial book is ap-
prox. $20. (will last for at least one year of playing)
Remember lessons are also available in Percussion/Drums,
Flute, Clarinet, Guitar, Piano, Ukulele and Voice.
For any inquiries, please email Dean Doyle Instrumental Mu-
sic Coordinator on: [email protected] or call
(leave a message) on 0430 590 019.

Contact Us
At Blue Hills College, we believe in the pow-er of prayer. Please contact us if you would like to share specific prayer re-quests with our staff. We ask you to join us in praying for specific individuals, both stu-dents and staff.
“Don’t fret or worry. Instead of worrying, pray. Let petitions and praises shape your worries into prayers, letting God know your concerns. Before you know it, a sense of God’s wholeness, everything coming together for good, will come and settle you down. It’s wonderful what hap-pens when Christ displaces worry at the center of your life.” (Phil 4:6-7, MSG)
