Luigi Bosca Catalogue 2013-2014

The terroir is the combination of a series of natural

and human factors. From the physical and chemical conditions

of the soil, the climate, altitude, the slopes and the hours

of sunlight to the irrigation, the pruning of foliage and plant

orientation. The harmony of all these elements together with the

study of the environment and of each plot

where the vineyards are planted allow us to obtain unique wines,

full of character and personality. Exclusive representations

of the terroir that are otherwise irreplaceable.

During four generations, the Arizus have worked

for more than 100 years in figuring out the behavior

of their farms, their vines, and the language of each grape variety

with excellence as their main goal.

In Finca Los Nobles, at 1,050 meters above sea level, riesling is the variety that best expresses the terroir where it is grown. originally, the variety was planted in Finca El Paraíso, but after several selections throughout the years, Las Compuertas has become the place they fit the best. The soil has a sandy-loam structure, with boulder of varying size in depth.

The wine is not aged in oak barrels.

Pinot Noir 100%.

After trying in different farms, it was found out that the vines of Pinot Noir located in our vineyards in La Consulta, at 1,170 meters above sea level, where the best to obtain the style looked for this variety. The soil is from alluvial origin, calcareous, with great presence of iron, sandy loam and rock on the surface. The native clone 777 was brought by the Arizu family from the French burgundy to their vineyards.

50% of the wine is aged between 6 to 8 months in second use barrels.

Loyal to their innovative spirit, the Arizu’s reflect the philosophy of preserving the richness of Mendoza regions. In 1991, the winery presents Luigi Bosca Malbec D.O.C Single Vineyard, the Argentine pioneer wine from the emerging CDO Luján de Cuyo, the first Controlled Designation of Origin of our country.

Finca Los miradores, Villa Seca (Ig tunuyán sub-appellation), Valle de uco, mendoza.

malbec 100%.

Three massal selections of malbec coming from other farms from the Arizu family were planted in the Finca Los miradores at 1,150 meters in order to pick the grapes to elaborate this wine. The population that obtained the best expression was the chosen one, and after a decade, the vines have been settled in their terroir and have achieved a perfect balance to provide grapes of excellent quality. The texture of the soil is in surface and up to 30-40 centimeters loamy-sandy . There are small diameters boulders in depth which are alternated with big size stones, ideal to get an optimum water infiltration, which allows for a greater exploration of the roots in depth.

30% of the wine is aged in new French oak barrels for 12 months.

A great blend from reserved plots whose result is balanced, full-bodied and with great complexity. we start with the Chardonnay, a characteristic grape from Argentina with soft aromas, and then we add the strong structure of Viognier, with its nuances of mango, peach, apricot and vanilla as well as its refined floral notes. besides, this wine has a subtle hint of Semillón, that thanks to its ageing in wood, offers support to the fruit to complete its smoothness in the mouth.

Then, a solid, austere and refined Syrah is added, with a spiced flavor and marked acidity. This wine also has a subtle touch of merlot which adds softness and balance to the blend.
