More than 800 people will be served, and there are opportunities for you to be part of this special program — by making a monetary donation, contributing food and supplies, and volunteering. Eleven individuals recently received a certificate of completion for their participation in the LUM Asset Building Bank On Itseries. Led by Timothy Hatke of Regions Bank, the series focused on money management, identity theft, FDIC financial basics and using credit wisely. Future asset development classes at LUM will cover consumer credit reports, security freezes, financial investing, and budgeting. The LUM Asset Building classes are organized by LUM program director Sandra Dunn-El. To invest in this important program, click HERE. Top Hunger Hike Fundraisers Recognized LUM welcomes a new Case ManagerHabeeb Dunn-El. Originally from Gary, Habeeb now lives in Lafayette where he is also the pastor of the Antioch Church of Restoration. Welcome Habeeb! Top Team—Military & Veteran Families Fight Hunger (Martina Sternberg, Scott Sternberg & their grandson, Gabriel Craig); Joe Micon, LUM executive director Congratulations and sincere thanks to our Top Hunger Hike fundraisers. If you wish to give to Hunger Hike 2014, click HERE . This week, the students enrolled in the LUM After School Program carved pumpkins. The students took their work seriously — rolling up their sleeves and digging right in — using their artistic talent and carving skills with this hands-on, educational and recreational activity. And the finished Jack-o-lanterns are tremendous. Some of the pumpkins were shared with individuals in our community while others decorate the LUM Ray Ewry Youth Center — and the studentshomes.
