Loving God, Help us remember the birth of Jesus,

that we may share in the song of the angels,

the gladness of the shepherds, and worship of the wise men.

Close the door of hate and open the door of love

all over the world. Let kindness come with every gift

and good desires with every greeting. Deliver us from evil

by the blessing which Christ brings, and teach us to be merry

with clear hearts. May the Christmas morning

make us happy to be thy children, and Christmas evening

bring us to our beds with grateful thoughts, forgiving and forgiven,

for Jesus' sake. Amen.

-- Robert Louis Stevenson

I always feel like one of the shepherds at Christmas time. In awe of

the splendor of the angels’ announcement, amazed at the spectacle of

God as a baby boy, dumbfounded and humbled as to why a deity

would care about me, and yet excited to know I can now live a life of

purpose. Our lives need to resemble the shepherds inasmuch as we

now know the complete story of Christmas. Praise Him, glorify Him

and spread the Good News in both our words and actions. Enjoy to-

night’s concert, be thankful for all your blessings, share with those

less fortunate, and be calm in the peace only a loving God can give.

Merry Christmas.

Luke 2:20 “The shepherds returned,

glorifying and praising God for all

the things they had heard and seen,

which were just as they had been

told.”

For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God,

Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Isaiah 9:6

The Twelve Days AFTER Christmas Frederick Silver

The first day after Christmas my true love and I had a fight, And so I chopped the pear tree down and burned it just for spite. Then with a single cartridge, I shot that blasted partridge my true love gave to me. The second day after Christmas, I pulled on the old rubber gloves, And very gently wrung the necks of both the turtle doves my true love gave to me. The third day after Christmas, my mother caught the croup; I had to use the three French hens to make some chicken soup. The four calling birds were a big mistake, for their language was obscene. The five gold rings were completely fake and they turned my fingers green . The sixth day after Christmas, the six laying geese wouldn't lay, I gave the whole darn gaggle to the A.S.P.C.A. On the seventh day what a mess I found, All seven of the swimming swans had drowned my true love gave to me. The eighth day after Christmas, before they could suspect, I bundled up the eight maids a milking, nine pipers piping, Ten ladies dancing, 'leven lords a leaping, Twelve drummers drumming and sent them back collect. I wrote my true love, "We are through, love", And I said in so many words, "Furthermore, your Christmas gifts were for the birds!"

Angels We Have Heard on High Arr./Arnold B. Sherman

We Three Kings Hopkins/Dobrinski

O star of wonder, star of night, Star with royal beauty bright, Westward leading, still proceeding, Guide us to thy perfect Light.

Resounding Joy

Good King Wenceslas (Gentle Mary Laid Her Child) Arr./John A. Behnke

Gentle Mary laid her Child lowly in a manger; There He lay, the undefiled, to the world a Stranger. Such a Babe in such a place, can He be the Savior? Ask the saved of all the race who have found His favor!

Mary, Did You Know Lowry & Greene/Page

Mary, did you know that your Baby Boy is Lord of all creation? Mary, did you know that your Baby Boy would one day rule the nations? Did you know that your Baby Boy is heaven's perfect Lamb? The sleeping Child you're holding is the great I Am!

The Nutcracker Tchaikovsky/McChesney

She gave birth to her firstborn, a son. She wrapped him in cloths and placed him in a manger because there was no room for them in the inn. Luke 2:7

Salvation Is Created Pavel Tschesnokoff/Bruce Houseknecht

Salvation Is Created was originally composed as a choral work by Pavel Tschesnokoff in

1912. It was one of the very last sacred works he composed before being forced to com-

pose for the secular arts by the Soviet government. It was transcribed for wind band in

1945 by Bruce Houseknecht. Both the original choral piece and the band arrangement are

considered to be some of the finest music repertoire written in the Twentieth Century.

Hark The Glad Sound (Band, Audience and Choir) Philip Doddridge

Verse 1 (Audience): Hark the glad sound! The Savior comes,

Please stand The Savior promised long;

Let ev'ry heart prepare a throne

And ev'ry voice a song.

Verse 2 (Choir only)

Verse 3 (Audience): He comes the broken heart to bind,

Please stand The bleeding soul to cure,

And with the treasures of His grace

To enrich the humble poor.

Pachelbel's Canon in D/The First Noel Arr./Michael Green

Hark the Herald Angels Sing (Band, Audience and Choir) Charles Wesley

Verse 1 (Audience): Hark! The herald angels sing,

Please stand “Glory to the newborn king.

Peace on earth and mercy mild,

God and sinners reconciled!”

Joyful all ye nations, rise;

Join the triumph of the skies;

With angelic hosts proclaim,

“Christ is born in Bethlehem!”

Hark! The herald angels sing,

“Glory to the newborn king.”

Verse 2 (Choir only)

Verse 3 (Audience): Hail the heaven-born Prince of Peace!

Please stand Hail the sun of righteousness!

Light and life to all he brings,

Risen with healing in his wings.

Mild he lays his glory by,

Born that man no more may die,

Born to raise the sons of earth,

Born to give them second birth.

Hark! The herald angels sing,

“Glory to the newborn king.”

The Child and the Kings Timothy Broege

The Child and the Kings: Timothy Broege is a contemporary composer known for thinking

“outside the box.” This composition mixes the “Coventry Carol” with “We Three Kings” It

has several changes in tempo and meter throughout the piece and is an exciting way to

end a concert.

For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior - He is

Christ the Lord! Luke 2:11
