Although LiDARs have improved in resolution, they cannot penetrate rain, dust or fog due to physical limitations of lasers. Hertzwell is developing ultra-high resolution 3D imaging radars to help driverless vehicles navigate in all weather conditions. Project Title: Moving Magnet Actuator An on-going project in PBA Systems, termed, ‘Moving Magnet Actuator’, is aimed to achieve long travel stroke without the need to energise the entire stretch of coil units for greater efficiency while maintaining a constant output force throughout its travel. The Proof-of-Concept (POC) has been developed with multi coils connected and activated by array of sensors and logic algorithm. The next phase of development involves implementing hardware-based power electronics and switching control and evaluating driver is compatible to handle the instantaneous sequential current switching and channel for energy dissipation. The objective of this project is to realise the hardware implementation of linear motor coil switching in accordance to the position of the moving magnet. The Control Unit is to be developed to accept encoder input, sensor input and output triggering signals for the power electronics switching. This include: 1.
