JOE & DEBBIE GARR WON 1ST PLACE IN C4 CATEGORY!
MITCH & ANITA MEESE 2ND PLACE IN C7 CATEGORY!
The long month of May is here and so is Mother’s Day. It’s time to honor mothers,
grandmothers, and great grandmothers, have a colossal Mother’s Day. Also, Memorial
Day is Monday, May 30th so take a moment from your day of celebration and leisure to
reflect on the brave sacrifices of those who have given their lives for this great nation.
The 19th Gambler’s Classic was a spectacular event with a lot of well-deserved trophies,
prizes, and fantastic food. Thank you Al and Nancy Lundgren for hosting the run to
Laughlin.
Barbara Price, thank you for making the arrangement to have our social dinner in April
at the Outback Restaurant. With tip top food and well organized waiters, let’s keep the
Outback Restaurant as one of our regular social dinner locations for Corvettes Limited.
Just a reminder there are two car shows in May. The Corvettes of Temecula Valley Car
Show is on May 1st and Plastic Fantastic Car Show in San Diego is on May 15th. Tony
and Karen DiGiovanni will lead the caravan to the Plastic Fantastic Car Show. Be sure
to go on line and register for this fun event.
It is my sad duty to announce that Ralph and Cheryl Verdicchio have resigned from the
club. They both will be missed very much. I and Corvettes Limited thank you both for
your service and friendship to our club and members.
Well everybody, that’s all for now. Look forward to seeing everybody at the next gen-
eral meeting.
Much obliged.
LEIF
Greetings From the Sunshine Lady
So happy to hear that John Cardenas, Bill Irish and Jerry Marble
are making good recoveries from their surgeries. We still, however,
have some members that continue to need our cards and support. Thanks
to all of our members that continue to remember their friends during
difficult times.

Happy Mother’s Day to all of our mothers in the club (whichever kind you might be). I hope everyone has a wonderful Sunday with their families.
WOW!!, what a weekend we had at the Gambler’s Classic. Al and Nancy Lundgren did a great job of leading the caravan of about 20 cars to Laughlin on Friday morning for the start of a great weekend. Of course, Bakersfield Corvettes did their usual excel-lent job of organizing the event with dinner and entertainment Friday night, a car show and poker run on Saturday and an awards/raffle drawing to close out the event on Sat-urday. I am proud and excited to say that 2 of our members and a potential member took home trophies on Saturday from the car show. CONGRATULATIONS to Joe and Debbie Garr on First Place with their 1996 Collector’s Edition and to Mitch and Anita Meese for Second Place with their 2016 Z06. Jim and Judy White, potential members and friends of Gig and Jack, took home Best of Show. Although no one in the club won the 50/50 drawing, members of Corvettes Limited did take home a lot of raffle prizes. I think Ron Camp needed to rent a truck to get all this winnings home. For a normal club, that would be enough of a weekend, but NOT Corvettes Limited. Sunday morning Al Lundgren had a run to Cracker Barrel in Kingman for breakfast, then on to Hackber-ry and then finishing off in Oatman to see the resident donkeys. It was a beautiful, if windy, day for a run. THANK YOU AL and NANCY for putting together and coordinating such a busy and excellent weekend.
Please up-date the Thiessen’s email address to be “pthiessen2 …” on the member-ship list. You are changing the “1” to a “2”. Thanks. Let me know if any one else’s in-formation needs to be up-dated on the membership list.
I know, I know the trip on the American Empress for the Voyage of Discovery is still many months away, but you can go to the American Queen Steamboat Company web page and check out optional excursions for our trip. The cruise line does provide an on-off bus for getting around the various stops, which really work well, but there are a few other side excursions that might interest you. These cost extra, but some look interesting. I think the Hell’s Canyon jet boat trip looks exciting and I’m always up for wine tasting. I’m sure we’ll have a meeting before the trip and we can talk about what each of us want to do and we might arrange to go together.

C 7 Battery Protection Package For $100 you can buy a Battery tender for your C 7. It has a nice logo on it and works quite well. The unit has 4 lights on it, 1 green on the bottom to indicate power is going to the unit. Above the green single light is 3 other lights. Red, yellow and green. When the red is light on, your battery is very low, this should not happen. Nor-mally the yellow light will come on, and when the battery is fully charged the green light will come on. The unit is plugged into a outlet in right rear of the cargo compartment. You come home from a trip and plug in the unit and you get a yellow light, OK. But make sure that the unit goes to green within 24 hours. If it does not go to green your battery will be discharged to almost no volts. This happened to me. The next time I went to the car about 10 days later, it was completely dead, electrical-ly. Nothing would work. The battery protection was still on a yellow light. So I took the key and opened the trunk hatch and checked the voltage, 3 volts. Got the battery charger out and charged the battery. Then I popped the drivers door with a very low battery, some may have noticed the window goes down a bit when you open the door, well if you open the door and the window des not go down Do not try to close it as you might brake the window glass. A Cold Cranking Amp Battery of 800 amps takes about 60 hours to charge with a 10 amp battery charger. Make sure the unit is properly plugged in and the lights go from yellow to green Your alternator is computer controlled and give a battery voltage from 12.8 to 15.1 when the battery is really low, When excusive voltage is produced, anything above 14.5 volts the alternator will heat up extensively. This is not good for alternator long life. The C 7 can only be jump started from the battery in the right rear of the car. Questions? [email protected]
