COUNTY METING
The regular meeting of the County of PonokaNo. 3 was held in the County Office on Thursday,November 13th, 1952, at 2:00 P.M., Chairman Crandallpresiding and the following Councillors present:H. J. Boman, I. E. Davies, P. M. Baker, Henry Nagel,J. Donnelly and P. Fraser.
263 Minutes Minutes of meeting of October 8th, 1952,were approved on a motion by Councillor Boman. Carried.
264 Accounts On a motion by Councillor Davies bills andaccounts were ordered paid. Carried.
265 Nor-west Motion by Chairman Crandall to table theTelephone account of the North-West Telephone Company. Carried.Account
Well — Fred Hnt interviewed the Council reF. Hunt flowing well on his place. This matter was referred
to the Secretary for attention.
266 N.W. 22- By-Law No. COM-52-l to effect settlement4%-3-W5 of payment of principal and interest on purchase of
N.W. 22—H#-3-W5threceived first reading on a motionby Councillor Fraser, second reading on a motion byCouncillor Donnelly and third reading on a motion byCouncillor Davies. Carried.
Bashaw A delegation from Bashaw composed ofDelegation Rev. K. Freitag, Dr. N. M. Mackay, Joe Dick, S. Readre and Mayor Ray Whitney interviewed the CouncilHospital regarding hospital services for Bashaw. They
advised that the village had no. resident Doctor andthat Ponoka Mnicipal Hospital was 30 miles away,Lacombe and Camrose each 30 miles, creating aserious problem in cases of sudden illness. Theyproposed making application to come within thePonoka Mhnicipal Hospital District, providing theCounty would assist in financing a sub-hospital atBashaw. The Council advised that finances atpresent would not permit such an undertaking.
Western H. A. MacDonogh, representing the WesternSteel Steel Products, called on the Council re culvert
supply. No order given.
wm. wm.Schmidt called on the Council reSchmidt assessment and was advised to place his complaint
with the Director of Assessment.
267 Assess— On a motion by Councillor Donnelly thement assessment on Alva Crandall's dozer was reduced toPersonal the purchase price of $1,500.00 and a refund ofProperty Personal Property Tax of $30.00 was ordered paid. Carried.
268 Personal Motion by Councillor Fraser to place allProperty unpaid Personal Property Tax and Minimum Taxes in theMin. Tax hands of J. S. McCormick, Q.C. for collection. Carried.
269 Ann Kres- Motion by Councillor Donnelly that the caseanoski of Ann Kresanoski be referred to Councillor Baker
for further investigation. Carried.
270 Wages Motion by Councillor Boman thatMrs. John Whitesell be paid on the basis of 75 centsper hour for cooking for the road crew. Carried.
271 Min. Rts. Motion by Councillor Davies that SecretaryS.E. 15- be authorized to sign a quit claim deed to the mineral#2-3—W5 rights on S.E. of 15-H2-3-W5thto Percy Fordham.

Gestetner Motion by Councillor Donnelly that theCounty purchase an electric Gestetner and that the oneat present in use in the office be sent to theRimbey school. Carried.
Conven-tion -
C.A.A.M.D.
Chairman, reporting on the Red Deerconvention, advised special emphasis was laid by theDepartment of Municipal Affairs on overspending inpublic works; the increasing amount of tax arrearswould indicate that drastic steps should be taken byCouncils to enforce collections; all resolutionspassed were ordered forwarded to the parent associationfor further consideration. This report was acceptedon a motion by Councillor Baker. Carried.
A letter from the Assessors’ Associationcalled attenmion to a proposal to be placed before theCalgary convention November l9th-2lst requesting agrant of 2 cents per each $1,000.00 of assessment fromeach Municipal District for the establishment of afund for the Association to provide up to dateinformation and to assist Assessors in the work.

THREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Departmentof Highways be asked to estimate and to make availableto each Municipal District the load limit to be placedon all government bridges.
Carried.
The financial statement showing receipts$90,983.00, payments $8H,962.99, and bank balance of$70,951.01 for the month ending October 31st, 1952,was adopted on a motion by Councillor Nagel. Carried.
On a motion by the Chairman the Secretarywas instructed to prepare and to forward to alltaxpayers in arrears a final notice to the effect that,unless same are paid on or before December 31, 1952,a distress warrant would be issued and the sheriffinstructed to collect with costs. Carried.
Meeting adjourned to 7:30 P.M.
Meeting re—conyened at 7:30 P.M., allCouncillors and Superintendent White of the SchoolDepartment present. Plans for an 8 room centralizationat or near Wilmot School, 8 additional rooms atPonoka, 8 additional rooms at Rimbey and 2 additionalrooms at Mecca Glen were discussed and it was agreedthat the approximate cost of $500,000.00 be financedas follows:
