NO HOLDS BARREDBy M.A. SADANAND

The mile-long queue at the Planning Commission’spalace that has the world’s most natty couple of toilets(made of solid gold with diamonds spattered on them) thatcost a measly 35 lakh rupees - rather a put off for theordinary bums - is good old Montek Ahluwalia’s contribu-tion to the spit and polish ‘India Shining’ image building, tarnished by the BJP satraps long ago.

Honest Manmohan must have been the most surprisedat the ceremonial pee, but with other barkers baying forhis blood, he stoically cut the ribbon and must haveprivately let fly at Montek.

But for all those mighty horde of killer warriors from thewest through the Khyber pass, who killed millions but builtmagnificent saracenic architectural marvels as well asone of the seven wonders of the world, the Taj Mahal, toconserve the bones of Mumtaz, Indian Republic’s Delhiand Agra would have looked barren.

Planning is not confined to teasing one’s brain intothinking of how to maintain the citizen’s body and soultogether at the staggering rate of Rs. 36 per day perperson, but a flash in the loo in a free country, to performwhich Montek thought God had created him.

Well, Mr. Handsome Saidai Duraisamy, how abouttaking the cue from Montek and giving the poor peregri-nating citizens usable loos in your Corporation’sstencheries?.
