M7 Dual RF Port Option

By John Sonnenberg Raveon Technologies Corp

Overview

The M7 data radio modem is available with a Dual RF port option. This option provides separate transmit (TX) and receive (RX) connections to the M7 data radio. This option is used for base station operation, such as leaky feeder systems used in underground mines.

Most leaky feeder systems require the wireless devices at the base station to have separate TX and RX radio signal paths. This allows the system to split, amplify, and distribute the TX and RX signals as needed.

M7 RF Connectors

When the Dual RF connector option is ordered for the M7 data radio modem, the radio’s enclosure will have a second RF connector added to it.

Notes:

1. Caution! Do not connect the transmitter output (BNC) to the receiver’s input (SMA). This will damage the unit. There must always be at least 40 dB isolation between the TX port and the RX port of the radio.

2. The RF performance of the M7 with the Dual RF port option is the same as the standard M7 data radio modem.

3. The maximum allowable RF input signal on the RX port is 0dBm.

4. The M7 radio is a simplex radio, and will either transmit or receive. It will not do both simultaneously. For full-duplex operation, you will need two M7 data radio modems.
