A report covering each individual machine, showing where the machine conforms and highlighting any non-conformities

The identification of areas of concern Recommendations of control methods and the

identification of all applicable standards

PUWERPUWER or the Provision & Use of Work Equipment Regulations require users of work equipment to carry out regular risk assessments which are documented and kept on file. The regulations require that all work equipment provided is suitable for its intended task and can be used without putting persons at risk. TÜV SÜD Product Service can offer comprehensive machinery assessments against the requirements of PUWER as well as a variety of training seminars on site or at a venue of your choice.

mCom+ SoftwaremCom+ builds on the original mCom software which was designed to ease the management of machinery compliance. The new software has significant new features which improves on the original well-respected system.

The mCom+ package includes software that simplifies the risk assessment process, backed-up with support from TÜV SÜD’s engineers, who will train machinery owners in both software use and legislative requirements. Available as a bespoke server-based version or cloud-based browser version.

Electromagnetic Fields (EMF) Safety for Machinery We help both machinery manufacturers and end-users ensure that they comply with the Control of Electromagnetic Fields at Work Regulations 2016.

The regulations set the minimum health and safety requirements for the exposure of workers to potentially hazardous electromagnetic fields. Our service offering includes EMF measurements and risk assessments of the machinery environment, to ensure compliance against a wide range of legislation and standards such as the EMF Directive (2013/35/EU).

Machinery Directive Notified Body TÜV SÜD BABT is able to complete conformity assessments for machinery that is required to have Notified Body certification under the Machinery Directive. This includes equipment such as saw machinery, presses, injection moulding machinery and some guarding. It is also a Notified Body under the Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) and Low Voltage Directives, to which most equipment that is subject to Machinery Directive requirements must also comply.

Compliance with the EMC DirectiveTÜV SÜD Product Service offers on-site testing services to ensure that machines comply with the EMC Directive thereby saving cost compared to setting up products up in a laboratory environment.

For cost-effective certification, the EMC testing service covers all commercial, military and a number of special purpose standards, which we will guide you through. As part of the service we can give advice and assistance on the following:

Recommendations to help meet the requirements of the EMC Directive

Test reports for EMC Compliance in accordance with relevant standards

Pre-Purchase AuditsTÜV SÜD Product Service offers comprehensive CE Compliance audits for manufacturers who are purchasing and importing machinery into the EU. Our CE Compliance audits will make sure that machinery complies with the requirements of the Machinery Directive and will include:

Documentation Checks Electrical Checks Mechanical Checks Health & Safety Checks

SEMI Standards & GuidelinesThe SEMI Standards are recognised as a prime declaration of the safety of equipment used in the semi-conductor industry. TÜV SÜD Product Service can offer comprehensive machinery assessments to the requirements of applicable SEMI Standards.

TÜV SÜD Product Service will provide the following:

Risk Analysis as required by SEMI S10 on any non-compliances noted on the completed equipment

S2 summary checklist and evaluation file which covers assistance on compliance requirements and solutions (referenced directly to the requirements of the applicable guidelines and Standards) and test reports for EMC Compliance

ATEX DirectiveCompanies that manufacture explosion-proof equipment and systems for the European Market must conform to the requirements of the ATEX 94/9/EC European Directive, which establishes a legal framework that manufacturers must follow to protect employees and property from explosion risk in potentially explosive environments.

TÜV SÜD Product Service offers a wide range of services to ensure that your products are compliant for use in explosive environments. We can advise you on the different conformity assessment procedures required for the equipment categories defined in the directive (categories 1, 2 and 3) and provide full certification or help with self assessment.

Functional Safety AssessmentsTÜV SÜD Product Service offers advice and assistance according to EN 13849-1 to mitigate machinery safety hazards. We can conduct a comprehensive risk assessment undertaken in accordance with EN14121-1 for the relevant phases of the life cycle of a machine where safety functions are to be performed by safety related parts of the control system (SRP/CS). Following this assessment, EN 13849-1 can be used to show compliance with the Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC.

We can work alongside your design / engineering team to:

Determine the performance level required (PLr) for each safety function

Assist with design and technical realisation of the safety function

Evaluate the performance level considering category, MTTFd, diagnostic coverage (DC) and common cause failures (CCF)

Complete validation to demonstrate that the combination of SRP/CS providing each safety function meets all relevant requirements

Machinery Safety TrainingWe offer an extensive range of machinery safety training courses available to all engineering levels within the industry. They vary from single day introductory courses to 5-day courses with professional awards, covering the following topics:
