MACHINING COURSES Machinists use tools, such as lathes

and drill presses, to produce and

    repair precision metal parts. Thorough

    planning and preparation must be

completed before any parts are cut.

    Working from blueprints, they

decide how to cut the metal or other

material and they choose the tools to

    perform the job.

Many of todays machine tools are

    computer numerically controlled

(CNC). They read computerprograms and run the production

    mechanism automatically.

    CNC machines enable higher

    productivity and better quality parts.

However, the quality of the product

    largely depends on the operating

    program. New programs must be

tested to ensure that machinery will

function properly and that output willmeet specifications.
