The green moons

Kayaks from an ecological point of view:

All polyethylene-kayaks consist mostly of fossil oil and are produced with a high energy input. Transport takes place up to 95% on the roof of cars. So, kayaking per say is a un-eco activity.

We calculated the amount of energy needed for the production of our HTP-kayaks.The accruing energy costs, from the production of the raw hull, over the production and mounting of the detachable parts

up to the average energy costs for the delivery of the components and the shipping of the finished kayaks to the shops, total in approx. 500 KWh.

Hereby it becomes clear, that a long useful life of the product is the crucial factor for the balance of energy. During the planning process of the kayaks and detachable parts we already focus on their longevity. Our material HTP is the key

advantage, its longevity is incomparable. During the production of the hull no waste accumulates. Worn-out hulls are taken back by us and recycled.

Further factors for a positive energy balance are:

We produce at the point where the market is.Our HTP kayaks are made in Rosenheim. This ensures short distances to our shops.

Short delivery distances of our suppliers.More than 80% of our detachable parts come from suppliers, located within a radius of about 300 km from the head

quarters in Rosenheim. This results in low energy costs for the delivery and an increase in the country’s value chain.

In-house generation of energy.The process heat of the production of the hulls is used for the heating of the production hall.

Another amount of our needed energy is covered by our photovoltaic system.

We have seen with our own eyes that most of the textiles used in the kayak industry are made in Far East. This causes very high transport-energy-costs for their delivery.

Our “women workers” in our in-house sewing room make all of our sewed parts.By doing so, we save costs and energy for the delivery, maintain important jobs and can guarantee the fulfillment of your

high quality requirements.

This is why we allocate all our products, which are produced energy-economically, the green moons.

level of base stability.

These kayaks are very similar to the allrounders with regard to boat shape.

They have good tracking and are good to maNEWver. The essential difference is the

technical equipment of the boats. There are fewer waterproof storages and the seating is also simpler. Therefore these boats are very well suited for short tours without a lot of

luggage or for kayak rental.

A Revolution: The first Prijon HTP sea kayak with Skeg! A classic but modern British shaped sea kayak with a heavy rocker, perfect for surfing in waves. It tracks well with the help of the Skeg - for tracking in all wind directions, but is very maneuverable when drawn up making it incredible fun to paddle. Also usable as Touring-kayak.

Two bulkheads, a day-hatch and several deck-lines and mounting possibilities emphasize its touring suitability. The SKEG is flush with the hull with a stainless steel frame. Therefore it is easily replaceable in case of loss.

The Enduro manages the whole course of a river, from the headwaters in the mountains to the estuary mouth. A kayak being able to manage changing conditions on such a course, must combine seemingly contradictory characteristics. Agile enough for the

swift-flowing, curvy headwaters, on the other hand not too sluggish on standing water. Enough storage for a multi-day-trip with a complete equipment is also included.

Made for smaller adults looking for a boat which is easy to load and transport, but still runs like a big touring kayak. The ALBOREA weighs only 15.5 kg in carbon/aramide at a length of 422 cm. Therefore loading on the car roof as well as the transport to the water is very easy.

Good tracking on open waters, agile on smaller rivers! The keel is not as pronounced as on the longer touring kayaks, which makes the LAGUNA more agile. Fundamental features are a high volume in bow and stern offering safety buffers. The tip doesn’t dip

in waves, but comes out quite fast. Depending on the bottom, a creeker

The STREAM consists of high-quality carbon or glass fibres, pressed into a mold under high pressure and at a high temperature. The profile in the paddle blade permits a construction without a middle core. The blades are very stiff and don’t flutter. Its stability can be compared to our high-quality white water blades. Due to its shape which is a bit flatter, the STREAM is also suited for sea kayaking. It glides easily through the water and is saves energy to the paddler.

Blade size: 49 x 17,5 cm

With a blade size reduced by approximately 25% and a smaller shaft diameter, compared to the BORA paddle, this paddle is especially suited for teenagers and small adults. The low weight and the small effort needed, make it possible to paddle also longer distances without tiring quickly. Our Passat paddles are unfortunately not available with PaddLock-system.

Prijon Boat carts

For transporting your kayak from the car to the water and back and in case of walking passages during tours, we offer you a large assortment of boat carts. The choice for the right cart depends on the type of the kayak and the requirements to the pack size. Smaller and lighter carts are easier to store in the kayak, larger carts with bigger wheels roll better in rough terrains and don’t cave in that easily.

The Day Tourer S boat cart is equipped with a strong elastic round-rubber and can be attached to the kayak within seconds. Perfect for a short transport from the car to the water or a short portage!

Very small pack size. The base frame of the Day Tourer L is widened a little bit, to enable it for a more centric position below the kayak.

Furthermore the Day Tourer L is equipped with larger wheels for a smooth rolling. The easy function principle is the same at both sizes.

Loading your boat made easy with the PRIJON load assist! Fits every roof rack - easy handling even for smaller persons. A common problem…the kayak is heavy and the height of the cars increases. Many paddlers are cannot get into enjoying kayaking due to the sometimes very energy-consuming handling. The PRIJON load assist makes it possible for one person to load a kayak without any extra help. The load strap prevents the kayak from slipping backwards. The bow is placed on the extension, the stern lifted on the rack. Push the extension in, strap down the boat, done!

The most important advantages: You never have to carry the whole weight of the boat. There is no more difficult balancing to do. Even smaller persons can now easily load the boat onto the car roof.

The new load assist sits behind the bar and is therefore much more aerodynamic. As it is mounted below the bar, it can be used from both sides. That way, depending on the width of the car, up to six kayaks can be loaded with this assist. Available in different lengths to be adopted on the respective base support.

Transport

Vertical support bars enable you to transport several boats on your roof rack, as the boats are transported upright side by side. The foldable version can remain on the roof of the car, even at low vertical clearances, e.g. at the garage door.

J-Bars protect your kayak best during transporting, as the support reaches around the boat hull. The canoe- ¼-bars are made for open canoes and big double seaters. To facilitate loading heavy boats on the roof we offer you our highly resilient load assist. With this tool a

single person is able to load heavy boats on the car roof with little effort.

Depending on the distance between the bars and the length of the kayak we recommend an additional tied-down fixation of bow and stern.Please consider the legal requirements regarding roof load, permitted lengths and labeling when transporting your kayak on the car roof.

Prijon HTP – boat hulls are very sturdy and hard-wearing. The material used has already received its permanent protection against UV rays. Normal ground impact occurring when touring cannot harm the hull. Transport with standard roof racks is easy. Slight

deformations caused by the cargo straps will go back to the normal shape within minutes after unloading the kayak. When transporting longer boats over longer distances, we recommend you to additionally secure the ends of the boat with straps.

If the boat is permanently stored outside, the boat hull should be covered, in order to prevent premature fading of the colour. Temperatures of -40° C to +60° are no problem at all. Even under such extreme conditions, HTP will keep its flexibility and sturdiness. It is not necessary to treat it with varnishes, wax or other polishing substances. These would become apparent on the surface and cause

unattractive discolourations. For cleaning, just use warm water with a dash of washing-up liquid.

GRPThe fibre mats of our GRP-kayaks mainly consist of glass fibres, which are very stiff, but still reasonably priced. Kayaks made of GRP are comparable to

the PriLite boats with regard to their weight.

Laminated kayaks are made by hand in the traditional way. They are more sensitive to contact with the ground compared to boats made of HTP or PriLite, and should therefore be predominantly used in free-flowing waters. PRIJON is offering the two material varieties of GPR and Carbon/Aramide.

CARBON-ARAMIDEThese boats mainly consist of carbon and Aramide fibres, combining the excellent qualities of carbon, which is very hard and gives the boat its stiffness

with the qualities of Aramide, which is very shock-proof and provides the necessary impact resistance of the kayak. The biggest advantage of this construction method is clearly the incredibly low weight (up to 10kg lighter than HTP-boats).

For PriLite boats, the ABS-combination plates, sealed with UV-resistant perspex, are pulled into the hot moulds, which have a temperature of approximately 80 degrees, in a computerized process, using heat and vacuum. The upper and lower parts of the boat are inseparably joined together by a double-sided U-profile. This profile additionally strengthens the sides of the kayak against impact. The mounting of deck mountings and interior fittings are thoroughly done by hand, as on all Prijon boats. Advantages: PriLite boats are approx. 20% lighter than comparable kayaks made of HTP.

At the same time there is a clear advantage regarding stability compared to GRP or Carbon/Aramide.

Repairs/Care: Superficial scratches can be polished off with a special paste, available in specialized shops. Larger repairs are made with Epoxi. The inside of the boat should not be permanently exposed to sun (store upside down!).

For the production of its world-famous HTP-kayaks, PRIJON is using a special PE, called HTP. This material can only be used in blow-moulding and not in roto-moulding, as used by other producers of kayaks. The molecule chains of HTP are approximately 10 times longer than those of rotated PE. This makes the boat hulls stiffer, lighter and less susceptible to abrasion. HTP-kayaks have clear advantages regarding form stability, abrasion and boat weight, compared to kayaks made of rotated PE. HTP is very environmentally friendly. When it is recycled, there are no poisonous gases or residues; it is ground water neutral and free of heavy metals. Care: HTP-boat shells are very sturdy and already possess a permanent protection

against UV-rays. Therefore they need no treatment with varnishes, wax or other care materials.
