Bernd Apfelbeck, Commercial Director Weidemann GmbH

Weidemann is characterised by a great versatility.

Dear ladies and gentlemen,

In recent years, in addition to our traditional target groups of agriculture and equestrian industries as well as municipalities, Weidemann has developed additional customer focuses. We sell many of our machines to different branches of industry and commercial enterprises. The versatility and manoeuvrability of machines as well as the compact design make these popular allrounders, which can meet a broad range of tasks with their good performance, also in these industries.

A selection of quite extraordinary reference reports therefore awaits you in this issue: The T5522 thus helps in the City Marina in Berlin to pick boats out of the water. The eHoftrac® continues to forge its path when applied in a paper factory or during transport work in the business of a special mould foundry. Furthermore, we have visited three very representative horse ranches for you and you can learn more about the concept of an educational and adventure farm.

You have certainly seen our new claim "designed for work" on our cover at the top right with the Weidemann logo. Read the interview with our marketing manager to find out why we have supplemented our brand communication with this claim and what the Weidemann brand stands for internationally today.

At this year's EuroTier, we are presenting to you some new innovations, as we've been accustomed to at Weidemann. We have continued to develop the eHoftrac® and the implementation of the new exhaust emissions standards is also advancing. Read a summary of the new innovations starting on page 10.

Yes, Weidemann is and remains moving...

Enjoy reading this issue!

For EuroTier 2016, with the 1380 Weidemann is introducing a new model within the successful Hoftrac® series. It replaces the 1350 CX, 1370 CX and 1770 CX models. The new 1380 is characterised above all by its diversity of configuration.

Two engines, three axles, four different drives, three driver's cabs and two different kinematics are available to choose from. In addition, there are of course also a variety of different hydraulic options, tyres and attachments available for the 1380.

The customer can therefore choose between many different options and equipment in order to configure the right machine exactly tailored to his or her needs, which corresponds to his or her work tasks and operational requirements. And the best thing about the Hoftrac® concept: You only have to pay for what is actually needed! You can find more about the new 1380 on pages 10-13.

Variety of configurations sets new standards – the 1380!

WEIDEMANN MAGAZINE WEIDEMANN MAGAZINE06 07NEWS NEWS

At DEULA in Hildesheim, young professionals in the fields of agriculture, animal husbandry, horse-keeping and gardening are learning how to handle agricultural machines by using a Weidemann 1160 eHoftrac®. In the autumn, Weidemann is providing DEULA Hildesheim with a Hoftrac® for 10 weeks. During this time, around 250 trainees and young professionals will be introduced to the technology in small groups. This will deal with, for example, operator safety or the precise handling with hydraulic systems. In addition, the relocating and transporting of loads will be practised.

Engineering trainee Helmut Schrader and his colleagues are immensely excited to have received a Weidemann 1160 eHoftrac® this year. “We are very satisfied with the machine,” says a rather pleased Helmut Schrader.

The Weidemann proves its versatility with more than just the bucket and pallet fork. Using the 1160 eHoftrac® in conjunction with an auger, the trainees in horse keeping can also be trained in the correct way to build fences.

John O’Boyle started his career in sales at Wilsons of Rathkenny / Weidemann Ireland in January 2014. A lot has happened since then: we can call him one of our best and most successful salesmen in the international arena. Thanks to his cooperation, tremendous growth has been recorded in Ireland and Weidemann is on the right track to continue expanding its market shares in loader technology. This is certainly also due to his agricultural background. Since he has worked for many years in the field of agriculture and agricultural companies, he of course knows exactly what matters in the application of machines for businesses.

The introduction of the new telehandler T6027 was accompanied this year by John O'Boyle at the Balmoral Show. A focus of this machine will be the poultry farms in Ireland. So what's closer than John accompanying a demo at a poultry farm with a video that can be seen at: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=isTeuM176LU.

Ireland on the path to success with John O’Boyle.

Learn with the Weidemann. The commercial managing director of Weidemann, Bernd Apfelbeck, thanks Hans Holm, managing director of the JMM Group, and Robert Kjærgård, managing director of Stemas Maskinsalg A/S, for the many years of good co-operation.

NewsStemas Maskinsalg was founded in Aabenraa, Denmark in 1981 and has been active in Scandinavia for over 35 years. Already in the early years, they dealt with the topic of charging technology. Since 1999, Stemas Maskinsalg A/S has been part of the JMM Group and has continued to expand. These days, Stemas employs 39 employees in Denmark and offers good area coverage with the main location in Hadsten as well as two other locations in Køge and Vojens.

In 1996, Stemas was an importer of Weidemann wheel loaders and therefore opened up the segment of agriculture and the equine industry as well as municipal applications However, it quickly became clear that Weidemann machines allow for a very wide range of applications, for example also in rental, at nurseries, on mink farms, in harbours, in commercial enterprises, in amusement parks and much more. The Weidemann product range is expansive, ranging from small compact Hoftracs® to medium series to the large powerful wheel loaders and telescopic wheel loaders. Weidemann has also been offering small compact telehandlers since 2010, which to this day represent a special product on the market. The Weidemann product range is also offered in Norway and Greenland via Stemas. In Norway, Stemas has its headquarters in Gullaug near Oslo. From there, the sales manager Morten Iversen takes care of an extensive network of 13 dealers.

“The manoeuvrable and compact machines with good tipping loads sell very well in Denmark and Norway. Also the fact that many of the types can be transported to the different sites of application on trailers makes these machines so successful,” says Robert Kjaergård, managing director of Stemas Maskinsalg. “In addition, we sell Weidemann products in Greenland. The large powerful wheel loaders are largely used here, frequently as cabin machines. We take care of the dealers from the Greenland market from our headquarters in Hadsten. A good coverage of the areas of sales, customer service and spare parts is very important to us at all of our locations and offices to be able to consistently offer our customers a high quality and efficiency.”

Successful co-operation for 20 years:Weidemann with Stemas Maskinsalg A/S together at the Scandinavian market.

For Stemas’ customers, business with the brand Weidemann means a wide coverage of needs. The different size classes and machine designs offer the right solutions to different industries, business sizes and orientations. With the extensive product range of attachments, the machines can also be used in many other areas and thus become multi-tools.

The commercial managing director of Weidemann, Bernd Apfelbeck, is also convinced of the long-time co-operation: “We are extremely pleased with the 20 years together with Stemas Maskinsalg A/S in Denmark, Norway and Greenland. With the Stemas team, we have a strong distributor on our side who has managed to establish the Weidemann loader on the market so that we have achieved a leading position today in Scandinavia. Weidemann as well as Stemas have constantly developed in all of these years. Together we were able to grow and be innovative on the market. Not least, the open dialogue in the areas of product development, sales and after sales has contributed to this active partnership. We look forward to the coming years with Stemas.”

A new claim!Weidemann – designed for work. This year, Weidemann expanded the communication with a so-called claim, an addition to the logo. Christina Heine, marketing director, gives the reasons for this in an interview.

For decades, our mission has been to lighten the load of commercial agriculture by the mechanisation of stable and yard operations. This led to the design and development of the Hoftrac®, which has become a generic term for its own equipment category – the original comes from Weidemann. The close co-operation between the Weidemann developers and our end users has repeatedly led to innovative concepts and a sophisticated product programme with high usability and mature technology.

We stand by this and continue to pursue our chosen path. Our customers benefit from high productivity, investment security and have a strong partner in Weidemann, who is always on their side. Our machines and services perform at a high level and bring daily pleasure through their work operation. Made precisely for this: Weidemann – designed for work.

Weidemann – a tradition of efficiency

Christina Heine, Marketing director Weidemann GmbH

Why are you now supplementing the Weidemann logo with a claim?CH: For decades, our innovative machines have stood for a specific support in the daily work of farmers and now many other customer groups. We offer efficient solutions for a variety of different tasks. Weidemann therefore allows for maximum economic efficiency and a good investment security all with finely tiered performance classes in a technical regard.

These are advantages that are hard earned on the market. Developments that only come about when the entire Weidemann team and our distributors work on it with all of their skills and passion. Weidemann is a strong brand, because all of these aspects are found together in a meaningful way. We take these things seriously and would like to express this in our new claim.

What can the claim “designed for work” do for customers?CH: We decided on this claim, because we expect from this a differentiation of the Weidemann brand, a good orientation and a strengthening of a positive recognition value. A claim is mainly about the image that I make of myself as a company with all of its facets, and any image that customers make of us, i.e. the brand image. These days, this contributes considerably to the brand experience as well as to the bond to it and influences the purchase decision. The brand is an emotional issue and is greatly characterised by individual perception.

Our goal with “designed for work” consists of living and communicating a coherent overall image of the product and the company as well as a strong partnership between manufacturers, dealers and customers. A “Weidemann” is not just a machine – a “Weidemann” has become part of its own, internationally orientated brand world.

Our key brand promise is:

Wheel loaders and telescopic wheel loaders of the 40 and 50-series with new engines and options.

The wheel loaders and telescopic wheel loaders 4080/4080T can be newly equipped with three different Perkins engines: 55.4 kW (75 hp), 75 kW (102 hp) and 90 kW (122 hp). The 90 kW (122 hp) version is available for the 5080/5080T. The 55.4 kW version meets the exhaust emissions standard IIIB with DPF (diesel particulate filter). The 75 kW and 90 kW versions meet the exhaust emissions standard IV (tier 4 final). With these two engine versions, the exhaust after-treatment is realised by a DOC (diesel oxidation catalytic converter) in combination with a SCR catalytic converter (selective catalytic reduction). The urea solution (also called diesel exhaust fluid (DEF)) is injected after the DOC, mixed with the exhaust fumes and reacts in the SCR catalytic converter. The tank for this is located in the front carriage of the machine. The new engines made it possible to further reduce the pollutant emissions. The air duct in the engine compartment has been revised: the air is now taken in through the rear, which is reflected in the modernised engine cover design. The new air filter with a cyclone air cleaner protects the engine and reduces the need for service by already cleaning the intake air from large dirt particles beforehand. The optionally available, additional oil cooler now no longer has to be attached to the front of the machine, but rather is now also found in the engine compartment.

With the telescopic wheel loaders 4080T and 5080T, larger tipping cylinders are installed, which has a positive effect on the shearing forces. For coupling and decoupling hydraulically operated attachments, the new wheel loaders and telescopic wheel loaders offer a special feature: the knob for the pressure relief of the third control circuit is easily accessible on the outside of the telescopic arm or on the load arm. In this way, different attachments can therefore be replaced faster and more efficiently. This works even with the ignition switched on or the engine running. There are some new features on the operator's cab too: The steps have been made larger and more comfortable and are equipped with a rough tread for optimum grip. A rooftop air-conditioning system is optionally available, which impresses with its enhanced performance efficiency. The 3.5-inch colour display with enhanced features is also new. In this way, for example, the maintenance hours or daily hours meter can be shown in the display. The notch for the 4th control circuit or the High Flow option is also new. Special attachments can therefore be worked with more efficiently and comfortably.

If necessary, the “jog dial” control element can be used to manually set the flow rate of the hydraulic oil. This is advantageous if the machine is operating a hydraulic attachment that does not require the full hydraulic performance of the machine. The operator can therefore work precisely and in a resource-saving manner with a machine and attachment.Another very practical new option is now available to machines with the version with 40 km/h. The transmission ratio of the axles and transmission are modified for this purpose and a larger hydraulic motor and variable displacement pump are installed. This gives the machines more pushing power, an automatic lifting arm damping with three modes and of course they can be moved more quickly from A to B.

For optimal trailer operation, various modifications have also been made to the rear of the machines. In addition to the normal ball hitch, a height adjustable version is now available that can adjust to the height of the trailer drawbar. For this purpose, the air brake system allows for the operation of compressed air brake trailers, thus increasing the range of applications of the machines yet again.

Weidemann is expanding the Hoftrac® series with the new 1380. Furthermore, there are the larger wheel loader and telescopic wheel loader 4080/4080T and 5080/5080T now with engines that meet the exhaust emission standard level IV and a whole slew of new features and options. The 1160 eHoftrac® is available with a new AGM battery and a series of new attachments will be introduced again.

Compact design, low centre of gravity, tight turning radius and powerful performance – these features have characterised the Hoftrac® series for years and still determine the immense success of the machines. With the new 1380, the Hoftrac® series is now receiving another model added, which impresses above all with its diversity of configurations.

For the 1380, two Perkins engines are available: one with 31.4 kW (43 hp) and one with 35.7 kW (49 hp). You can choose between three different axles (T94, T110 and PA940), which can be combined with four different drive types. All axles can provide 20 km/h or 30 km/h travel speed and can be equipped with a 100% differential lock. In addition, it was possible to improve the pushing power. Depending on the task of the machine, the appropriate loader unit can be chosen for the 1380. The P-kinematics convince with their high tipping loads for quick loading cycles and quick materials handling. The high lift height version is the optimal choice for high side walls. The P-Z kinematics is a combination of the traditional P-kinematics and Z linkage and offers extra shearing forces in combination with a considerable lift height and finely coordinated parallel guidance.

The new diversity of configurations – the 1380.

New machines and options for EuroTier 2016.

Furthermore, three different driver's cabs are available to choose from for the 1380. The 1380 is equipped with the operator's canopy as a standard. If overhead clearances of less than 2 metres are to be passed through, the fold-down operator's canopy eps (Easy Protection System) is recommended, which can be prepared for a low clearance with just a few easy steps. With plenty of headroom and freedom of movement, the cabin also offers optimal comfort in any weather.

As with all Hoftrac® models, a variety of hydraulic options, different tyres and attachments are also available for the new 1380. The customer can therefore choose between many different options and equipment in order to configure the right machine exactly tailored to his or her needs, which corresponds to his or her work tasks and operational requirements. And the best thing about the Hoftrac® concept: The customer only pays for his or her individual machine configuration, i.e. only for what he or she really needs!

New attachments expand the product range.

Like every year, Weidemann has also expanded its product range of attachments this year. Now included are rear trimmers and a pruning saw. Both tools convince with their lightweight and compact design and have a considerable output. With the rear trimmers, branches up to 25 mm and with the pruning saw branches up to 100 mm thick can be cut or sawed. The two attachments are available from the 1160.

In order to simplify the feed handling, there is a new silage-cutting blade and a new bale-cutting blade. The silage-cutting blade is traditionally designed for handling grass and maize silage, but also allows for the handling of concentrated feed and grist, for example, due to the closed bucket base.

The bale-cutting blade is characterised by the fast and easy opening of film-wrapped bales. The special feature is a gripper that automatically grips the film and net when cutting the bale and thus separates it from the contents of the bale. This eliminates the annoying manual removal of the protective packaging.New to the product range is also another round and square bale gripper, which is suitable for transporting and stacking film-wrapped and round or square bales. However, it is also possible to grip and transport other goods with this design. In addition, there is also a so-called ripper, which can be used to easily loosen up compacted soil with three sturdy prongs.

A compact and sturdy design, low centre of gravity, small turning radius, powerful performance and a variety of different attachments – these features identify our Hoftrac® and still determine its great success. The 1160 eHoftrac® combines the advantages of the traditional Hoftrac® with the drive type of the future. Since early 2015, the machine has been produced in series and has now experienced its first continued development. Starting in 2017, an AGM battery will be installed in the eHoftrac®. AGM stands for Absorbent Glass Mat. With this type of battery, the electrolyte is bonded in a fleece made of glass fibre. There are still two different power levels available. The standard battery has 48 V and provides 240 Ah and the optional battery offers 48 V at 310 Ah. The AGM battery technology offers a whole range of benefits:

• Improved degree of efficiency and better power output with the same capacity

• Leak-proof system thanks to the enclosed battery trough

• No longer necessary to top off the distilled water

• On-board battery charger, charging at any normal plug receptacle with 230 V

• Intermediate charges are even more effective

• Increased recuperation capacity (energy recovery)

• Less sensitive to temperatures

• Less heat generated by the battery

• More safety during the charging process (no gas formation)

Career Night: NightWork 2016 – a complete success! On Friday 2 September 2016, the first NightWork event took place in Korbach. 18 exhibiting industrial companies, individual retailers, craftsmen and service-providing companies presented at night at a total of six locations. Not only did young people visit the individual stations to orient themselves professionally, but the older ones also were interested in the “Career Night”. Several thousand people were brought to the locations by shuttle bus in order to better get to know the company through guided plant tours or other interesting events.

About 2,700 visitors were received on the Weidemann plant grounds, all of whom experienced a comprehensive programme. In addition to the Weidemann demo show and plant tour of one of the most modern wheel loader plants in Europe, you could also have your application spruced up a bit by the personnel professionals and get tips and tricks for the next job interview. You could also experience a test ride on a virtual wheel loader with the self-built driving simulator from the Weidemann trainees.

Five other companies exhibited on the plant grounds in order to draw young people's attention to the career opportunities. But there was much more: The Hercules Racing Team.

The University of Kassel showed a racecar demo show, you could get a quick massage at Physio-Fit and Intersport Kettschau offered sporting equipment such as electric bikes, ergometers and more to test out. One of the many highlights of the evening was the artist Christine Dumbsky, who turned a Weidemann wheel loader into something very special with airbrush technology. DJ E.Liver provided for a relaxed atmosphere all evening with exciting beats and of course, there was plenty of food and drink to be had.

“The NightWork event went very well for Weidemann. With this success, we want to repeat the event in the future,” says Bernd Apfelbeck, commercial director of Weidemann GmbH.

There was something for every visitor and there were many ways to be informed about your career and to plan for the future.

We look forward to the next “Career Night”!

Horse lovers find a paradise with the Teitscheids – right in the middle of Düsseldorf. All of a sudden, the big city jungle cleared up – between residential homes and industry, the view of the meadows and fields of the large riding complex Teitscheid opens up. The Teitscheid family operates the horse farm in the middle of the Düsseldorf Itter district. The agricultural operation has been family-owned since 1703 and has been home to horses for over 40 years. Weidemann machines have long been part of the operation.

In 1972, an acquaintance of Theo Teitscheid asked during a rider’s meeting whether he could bring his horse to be boarded at Theo’s farm. Word spread quickly and more and more horses gradually came. And so the farmer gradually converted the operation to a horse boarding facility. In 1984, the last cattle then left the farm. Today, 60 horses and ponies call the grounds in the Rheinschleife (“Rhine loop”) home.

The focus of operation shifted, but the work remained.

Today, the farm still manages 74 hectares of green and arable land in Düsseldorf. In addition, the family owns large areas of forest and arable land in northern Hesse. “Only a lot has changed on the farmstead,” explains today’s plant manager Paul Teitscheid. The Teitscheids looked for the right technology for the work in the stables. “We first had a farm loader from another brand, but had to replace the machine after a short time.” Then the technologically excited horse-keeper came upon Weidemann in 2001. “We are absolutely satisfied with the reliability and durability

of the machines,” emphasises Paul Teitscheid. He currently uses the telescopic wheel loader 2070LPT for the heavy work, such as stacking the hay bales or mucking out manure. For all other work on the farm, he had replaced his old 1240LP with a new 1160 eHoftrac® about a year ago.

Low noise and exhaust free with the 1160 eHoftrac®.

Working quietly was a particular reason for the replacement. “Everything is much quieter. I can also now use the machines on the weekend without disturbing the neighbours.” This aspect plays an important role due to the dense number of residential homes nearby. The communication with one another during work is also much

better now, because all those involved can talk in a quiet tone and do not have to fight with the engine noise.

The horse professional talks about the time of getting used to the 1160 eHoftrac® on the Teitscheid farm: “The first few days the horses would get scared when all of a sudden a machine was behind them. Then they got used to it.” Today, those having their horses boarded here as well as the riders are in particular excited about the quiet and emission-free machine, which does not disturb them when riding and conversing. It was also noticeable with the topic of exhaust fumes: the exhaust fume pollution has become much less. “When I bring a bucket full of manure to the manure pile today with the 2070LPT, the girls ask me whether I really have to take the ‘stinker’,” says Paul Teitscheid laughing.

The 1160 eHoftrac® is used at the Teitscheid farm above all for sweeping, mucking out, for screeding the riding hall and for transporting for natural breeding. In addition, Paul Teitscheid has quickly converted a round bale wrapper into a “trash bin turning device”. There are trash bins everywhere on the farm in which the horse droppings are collected. So everyone can help to keep the farm clean. He can then easily pick up the bins with the 1160 eHoftrac® and his trash bin turning device and tip them into the collection container.

All in all, the Teitscheid family is very satisfied with the 1160 eHoftrac®. The expectations have been met, the battery runtime is right for the work volume and the riders love the quiet and noise-free Weidemann very much.

The 2070LPT is mainly used for the heavy work: Loading manure, stacking straw, etc.

A good idea: Paul Teitscheid has converted a round bale wrapper into the “trash bin turning device”.

The farm is swept every day. You can also see the rotary sweeper attached as well.Teitscheid family: Paul, Lea, Corinna, the dog Fritz and the pony Nashville. The 1160 eHoftrac® mucking out the horse stables.

“Home – Every person on earth needs a place to be happy”. Norbert Rier, the frontman of the Kastelruther Spatzen [folk music group - Kastelruth Sparrows], found this place long ago on his Haflinger horse farm near Kastelruth in beautiful South Tyrol.

18 WEIDEMANN MAGAZINE

The success story of the Kastelruther Spatzen is long and includes an incredible number of awards at regular intervals. The 7-man band has already won the “Echo”, “The Golden Tuning Fork” [Die goldene Stimmgabel] and “The Crown of Folk Music” [Die Krone der Volksmusik] several times. The Sparrows were successful from the outset: after releasing their first CD, which was gold-plated at the time, a new record with a best-seller guarantee has appeared thereafter almost every year. In 1990, the group took part in the “Grand Prix of Folk Music” [Grand Prix der Volksmusik] for Germany and won with the song "Tears do not suit you” [Tränen passen nicht zu dir]. The foundation for the international success was thus laid and numerous hits and appearances followed in various TV broadcasts. Today, the Kastelruther Spatzen have already received over a hundred golden records. They are probably the most successful German-speaking group in folk music hit songs. In September 2016, the now 37th album(!) was released under the title "The Sun Shines for Everyone” [Die Sonne scheint für alle].

His Haflinger horses – a healthy balance.

Also in the year 1990, the Haflinger horse rearing began on Norbert Rier's farm. He was on the Seiser Alm and saw three beautiful Haflinger fillies. But the more he thought about it and

compared, the less he could decide on one of the three – so he bought all three! His passion for the beautiful horses has allowed him to continuously expand his farm and keep busy with the work of rearing Haflinger horses. He is helped with his work by the Weidemann telehandler T4512. With a bucket, pallet fork and gale grabber, the feed and large bales are moved for the animals. The fork & grab helps with transporting manure. The small compact telehandler is a helper for the daily operations. The 4.5 metre lift height and the 1.2 tonne payload allow for a wide range of applications.

Whenever Norbert is at home and his family desires it, there are long rides into the magnificent countryside of the Schlern region. The 56-year old singer is married and has four children. His family helps him with his hobby. His son Alexander trains with the horses and also helps his dad with the exhibitions. The youngest daughter Anna also likes her dad's three “classic ponies” and helps with the stable work. In addition to the musical success of his group, there is hardly anything that Norbert Rier can enjoy more than his Haflinger horses. “It's the same in the music and on the farm: those who want to work professionally need good equipment!”

On the outskirts of Gelsenkirchen, in the heart of the Ruhr area is the Ziegenmichel farm. The lovingly restored farm has been dedicated to the pedagogical inclusion of children, adolescents and adults, with and without disabilities, for more than ten years. In an appealing atmosphere, the farm offers various individual events, educational and adventure courses as well as themed workshops year-round, which are suitable for children aged 3 and older.

With great attention to detail, the Ziegenmichel team has continued to turn the old farm into an adventure paradise. With beautifully landscaped gardens and themed huts and facilities (Vikings, Stone Age, Middle Ages, Indian, Mongolian, etc.) built with attention to detail, a varied event programme is offered throughout the entire year. The farm is designed free of barriers so that people with disabilities can also enjoy the different offerings. One highlight is the farm's own, small agricultural technology museum. Here you can discover different relics from agriculture in the past. On about 40 hectares, active agriculture is still performed today. Mainly, corn is grown. A variety of domestic farm animals has also found a peaceful and friendly home on the Ziegenmichel farm. Visitors can therefore see goats, sheep, rabbits, boars, geese, chickens, cats, dogs, various birds and above all horses and ponies, which are available for various riding courses and events.

The integrative guiding principle.

The Ziegenmichel farm sees itself as a world of learning and adventure for all young people. It is therefore self-evident that children, youth and adolescents feel valued, regardless of nationality, social status, mental constitution or physical constitution, and that they can take advantage of the opportunities of the Ziegenmichel farm for their personal development.

Sustainability on the Ziegenmichel farm.

Sustainability has always been an important goal of every project and all offers since the founding of the Ziegenmichel farm. The sustainability factor is taken into account both in the conceptual planning as well as in the implementation of the individual offers. For the Ziegenmichel farm, sustainability means conveying to children and adolescents a lasting relationship to their environment and their fellow human beings.

A Weidemann 1880 in application.

With the extensive offering on the farm, there is of course always something to do and the work is never done. That is why the operators around Michael Lorenz decided to procure a new motorised helper. The choice fell on a Weidemann 1880, of course in a green colour to match the Ziegenmichel farm. The machine supports a wide range of transport work, mucking out and the maintenance of the facilities and riding grounds. As a competent contact partner for the machine, Carsten Telahr from the Weidemann dealer Pieper Landtechnik in Rees-Millingen has been at his side since the first hour. He is particularly pleased that the machine makes an important contribution here and is part of the unique concept.

Weidemann wishes the team of the Ziegenmichel farm continued success in the future!

The Helenenhof in Schleswig-Holstein is about horses. And about horses. And about horses. So that it can continue to be about horses, one works behind the scenes: a Weidemann 2070T.

The star on the Helenenhof is Carabas, the top breeding stallion in the Schleswig-Holstein dressage world. The 18-year-old dark brown horse has brought home many titles and awards, including a victory at the Media Cup, a second place finish in the German Dressage Derby and various other victories in the Grand-Prix and Grand-Prix Special Trials.

It’s no surprise that such a winner also has demands on its accommodation. The horse stalls are made of pearl-blasted stainless steel and bamboo, and are therefore regularly mucked out with the help of the Weidemann 2070T. The manure then disappears behind the closed doors on the dunghill. “It’s good that the Weidemann has a telescopic arm. That way we can push the manure up high,” explains Rainer Schwiebert. He and his wife Jessica Jahr-Schwiebert are the owners of the high-ranking Holstein breeding stallion Carabas and his stable companions.

The 16 horses of the family are made to shine brightly daily, and the roughly 3-hectare complex with tables, riding hall and riding arenas, gallop track and machine building always look flawless too. “We took over the Helenenhof about 16 years ago and have rebuilt everything since then,” explains Rainer Schwiebert. “It is particularly important to me that the values that we have established here are always well-maintained.” And so the Weidemann looks as clean as the day it was purchased, despite the daily use. In addition to the regular mucking out of the horse stalls, the Weidemann 2070T has been used in levelling the riding tracks, mowing around the fences and maintaining the farm and buildings for about three years. The dome-shaped rows of windows of the stables and the windows and mirrors of the riding hall are regularly cleaned using the Weidemann.

Rainer Schwiebert has long been convinced by the Weidemann brand. “Our first Weidemann was a 1250,” explains the professional rider, “with the Hoftrac® without a cabin, I had a terrible case of bronchitis during the winter when moving snow.” The now 66-year-old did not want to experience that again and soon called his Weidemann dealer, Heeder Landmaschinen GmbH. Within a day,

a new 1770 with cabin and heater was on the farm. “Such great service is important to me,” emphasises the dressage rider, who also likes to give a hand himself for minor repairs.

His son Sascha Schwiebert is also a big help on the farm. The logistics student is just as excited about horses as the rest of the family and takes special care of the fleet. He drives the Weidemann as easily as the large transport and residential lorries.

If Rainer Schwiebert himself is not sitting on his parade stallion Carabas or the 9-year-old expressive Catoo, then he his training his daughter Franziska, who is also a very successful dressage rider among the junior riders. In addition, he also looks after international students and the young dressage riders in Hamburg. All of these tasks of course require a lot of time and organisation. It’s good that everything is running smoothly at home. Of course with the help of a Weidemann.

An all-round successful event. The first special loader technology exhibition in the new uplands hall Miesbach.

Miesbach, Upper Bavaria. South Bavarian Agricultural Technology, the merger of dedicated Bavarian agricultural machinery dealers for a successful purchasing and marketing community, adopted the special topic of loader technology in an unusual way on 8–9 April 2016. Customers from the areas of agriculture and horse-keeping, as well as municipal decision-makers and traders alike, were addressed to be able to inform them of the innovations and the current product range of the Weidemann and Bobcat brands.

The big day of the exhibition.

The focus of the practical machine exhibitions was the tremendous versatility and the high scope of functions, which modern loaders offer their users today. For practitioners, the moderated demo shows were of particular interest where the loaders from both established brands were presented with the most diverse attachments.

The technology specialists from Weidemann and Bobcat were available to answer detailed questions on these days. South Bavarian Agricultural Technology also presented a large selection of machines

As a partner of the major event, representatives from the companies agroliner, Bema, BNP Paribas, Cemo, Société Générale, Rauch, Strautmann as well as John Deere to accompany the tractors segment. Fan shops of the brands as well as food and drinks at family-friendly prices and a children’s programme completed the offering.

The evening event.

In an exclusive evening event, more than 1,000 invited guests were also able to attend a big show in the arena of the uplands hall in Miesbach. The product presentations by the brands Bobcat and Weidemann were mixed with various artists’ performances and a raffle with high quality winnings. A representative cross-section through the entire product range of the Hoftracs®, wheel loaders and telescopic wheel loaders as well as the telescopic loader models in three individual sequences were presented by Weidemann. For this event, the agricultural technology dealers of the South Bavarian Agricultural Technology organised bus tours in order to make the evening convenient for as many customers as possible.

The paper factory in Penig is the oldest still-producing paper factory in Germany. Paper has been produced here since 1537.

In the beginning, the production still took place in painstaking manual work with the deckle frame. The first machine was purchased in 1835 in order to simplify the production process. The factory was one of many paper factories on the Mulde river. Due to its proximity to the printing centre in Leipzig, the factory experienced its flowering from 1870 to the first world war.

Since the end of the 1950s, the traditional location has specialised in the production of dark-coloured decor and counteracting paper, e.g. for flooring (laminate). Since 1991, the factory has been part of the Felix Schoeller Group, one of the world’s largest manufacturers of photographic paper. In Penig alone, up to 28,000 tonnes of paper are manufactured every year and distributed across Europe. Depending on the requirements, grammages between 40 and 140 g/m² and widths up to 265 cm are offered. Among other things, paper mill sludge (residual material from paper production) from the sister plant in Günzach and secondary pulps, such as defective batches, are used as raw materials. The loose paper mill sludge from Günzach or from their own accrual is moved with the compact Hoftrac® and tipped into the break-up pulper.

Paper with different weights and widths are manufactured in Penig.

The particular manoeuvrability of the 1160 eHoftrac® is required in the angled storage warehouse.

The paper sludge is fed into the manufacturing process by the eHoftrac®.

Flood hazard: In addition to the best production conditions, the Mulde always has the risk of flooding.

With the blue safety light, colleagues are warned ahead of time of the quiet approaching machine. The 1160 eHoftrac® loading the paper sludge.

Tradition and innovation work hand in hand at Schoeller Technocell. Since 1537, the factory on the Zwickauer Mulde has been producing paper and the Weidemann 1160 eHoftrac® has been in application there since 2015.

To date, the workers in Penig worked with conventional machines with a combustion engine. “There was also a Weidemann included in the bunch,” knows fleet manager Thomas Stein. However, there were various aspects that had to be taken into consideration during the work: the exhaust fumes of the wheel loader always swirled up small particles. Together with the heat development from the engine, there was always a danger of a dust explosion in the room. “I then heard about the ‘eHoftrac® project’ at a plant trade fair from a forklift manufacturer,” explains Thomas Stein. “I immediately wanted the thing. When Mr Drescher (Weidemann distributor in Arneuba), then introduced the machine, I didn’t waste any more time.” In the spring of 2015, one of the first 1160 eHoftracs® was finally delivered to the Penig paper factory.

Another reason that spoke for the 1160 eHoftrac® from Weidemann and that ultimately would also convince the management was, in

addition to the reduced risk of fire, the freedom from emissions. Since the machine is used in the building, noise and odour pollution were often a negative aspect of the working area. “And ultimately there is of course also the much lower maintenance effort,” adds the vice president and location manager Reinhard Geißler, satisfied that the 1160 eHoftrac® has met all expectations.

The Weidemann distributor has contributed to the safety of the colleagues Arneuba still has a so-called blue safety light mounted. The blue light, which is frequently used with electric forklifts, warns surrounding colleagues of the approaching quiet machine. Overall, the 1160 eHoftrac® from Weidemann is therefore a very good supplement to the sustainable machine fleet and was the ideal solution for the special requirements of Schoeller Technocell.

Under the motto “Forging the future together”, Neyer Landtechnik opened up their new company location on the outskirts of Mennisweiler from 14 to 17 April 2016 with a varied programme.

The family-owned business of Neyer Landtechnik has been successfully run for 185 years. What once began as a small smithy today is a modern and future-oriented family-run business in the sixth generation. In order to continue to develop the business and to prepare for the next generation, Wilhelm Neyer decided to construct a new building on the outskirts of Mennisweiler. From here, the well-established specialised agricultural technology company is the contact partner for the Allgäu-Lake Constance-Oberschwaben region, and since 2008, for products from Weidemann too. The special focus here is on expertise, modernity and good service. These principles are reflected in the new building. The heart of the open construction concept is the exhibition hall: the “Neyer Forum”. “A meeting place for consultants and customers to talk about current products,” says the managing director Wilhelm Neyer. Customers should feel comfortable here; the 15 employees of Neyer Landtechnik are also excited about the new spaciously designed working areas. In addition to the representative exhibition hall, the family-owned business was also able to double

Furthermore, with the new building the Neyer family was able to realise a spare parts store of 360 m² and a large spare parts and accessories shop.

The company Modell- und Formenbau Christian Schmidt in Wutha-Farnroda in Thuringia has been building models for renowned industrial companies across Germany for three generations already, such as for gas turbines or axles, as they could also be installed in the eHoftrac®. If the design department of a company has designed and developed a new element, the data goes to the master model building Christian Schmidt. He and his team of eight employees and trainees then, with a lot of patience and craftsmanship, build a model from the data provided. A negative sand mould is made in the foundry from the wooden or plastic models made down to the millimetre. Liquid metal is then cast in it, which then is cured into the desired end product. It is obvious that precision is key here.

Precision is also the key word for the eHoftrac® from Weidemann purchased in 2015, because the former farmhouse of the model builder is located angled on a slope. “I actually wanted to buy a forklift to make it easier to transport the heavy workpieces,” explains the company owner Christian Schmidt. But the forklift could not manage the gradient of around 35%. So Christian Schmidt took a look around the market. He finally found the solution in the off-road capable 1160 eHoftrac® from Weidemann.

“I initially also did not know whether we meet these requirements,” explains Mario Schott, who was responsible for the red multi-talent at the Weidemann distributor HFT. “In addition to the 35% gradient, the angled and narrow driveway had to be managed.” But the attempt showed that even this tremendous gradient and the tight turns were no problem with the heavy weight of the model to be moved.

The eHoftrac® easily reaches all lift heights with the long load arm.

At night, the eHoftrac® is dry and protected in its garage.

The finished models are delivered with the company’s own lorry.

Like it was made for the eHoftrac®: no other machine could manage the narrow and steep driveway, including the archway.

Absolute precision is the order of the day with craftsmanship in the workshop.

Back to the roots – An eHoftrac® helps the master model-maker Schmidt at work.

30 WEIDEMANN MAGAZINE PANORAMA

“My employees are very excited about the workload reduction,” says Christian Schmidt, “our elements usually weigh between 300 and 800 kg, but can also even reach one tonne sometimes. You can easily imagine how ‘popular’ the task was of pulling such parts up a steep ramp.” Once at the top, the elements then had to be lifted through a gate into the upper floor of the multi-storey workshop. The eHoftrac® even overcomes the last centimetre here with its long load arm.

Ultimately, the machine not only had to manage on narrow and steep paths, but also pass through low clearance heights. That is why Christian Schmidt decided on the fold-down operator’s canopy eps. With a few easy steps, it is folded down and the eHoftrac® can, for example, be parked in the only 2-metre tall garage for the night.

Only one question remains: Why did Christian Schmidt ultimately decide on an electric Hoftrac® instead of buying a diesel-powered machine? It’s simple: There are residential homes to the right and left of the workshop. To keep the peace in the neighbourhood, the craftsman decided on the quiet and exhaust emissions-free machine – and is very satisfied.

The principles of the master craftsman Christian Schmidt comes from Horst Reiner Menzel: “Manual skills are not reflected in language skills or school certificates. Craftsmen carry the intelligence in their golden hands.”

Where are the current challenges of the Russian agricultural technology market and what is being done on Weidemann’s part to remain successful?

Denis Pronin: As part of the Ukraine crisis, both the EU and the USA imposed sanctions on the Russian Federation in 2014. Russia then invoked sanctions that above all have greatly impacted the Western producers of agricultural machinery. The Russian agricultural technology manufacturers in turn are given preferential treatment. For example, there are state subsidies for farmers who buy machines and equipment from Russian producers or also from producers from the Eurasian Economic Union (Kazakhstan, Belarus, Kyrgyzstan and Armenia). In addition, Russia has imposed the so-called “recycling fee” since 2016, which applies to all self-driving foreign work machines, which also leads to an increase in price.

In order to remain successful on the Russian market, Weidemann has made some adjustments and, for example, restructured the dealer network. In addition, the subsidiary Wacker Neuson Moscow, through which the sales organisation of the Weidemann machines also operates, this year officially became a member of the Rosagromash (Association of Russian Agricultural Engineers). At the same time, we offer our dealers lower priced financing options through German leasing companies, since loans are currently very expensive through Russian banks.

Which Weidemann machines are particularly in demand in Russia?

Denis Pronin: Our best-selling models are currently the large telescopic wheel loaders 5080T and our two classic telescopic loader models T5522 and T4512. In addition, we want to successfully establish the 1160 eHoftrac® in select areas in the market and we want to convince our customers of the benefits of emission-free, electrically operated machines.

What activities have there been in Russia so far in 2016?

Denis Pronin: A number of training sessions for salespersons and service technicians have already been held this year. In addition, there was also a separate training for demo drivers for the first time, which was very well received. For only those who can use and demonstrate our machines optimally will manage to show potential customers what workload reduction our machines offer. Our dealers have presented Weidemann machines at more than 20 trade fairs and events in various regions of Russia. At the largest Russian agricultural trade fair “Agrosalon”, Weidemann was able to successfully present the 1160 eHoftrac® and other machines at their own stand.

What does the future of Weidemann look like in Russia?

Denis Pronin: While this year most of the Western agricultural technology manufacturers had to take an average hit of about 20% in turnover, Weidemann was able to achieve a double-digit growth, which makes it clear that we are on the right track. What helps us here is the positive image that Weidemann has gained in Russia in recent years. Weidemann is seen as a company that builds efficient and high-quality machines, which are always in keeping with the latest technological developments.

The agricultural businesses in Russia are very different from the businesses in Western Europe. They are usually considerably larger, i.e. large and powerful machines are often required. I am therefore very pleased that the Weidemann product range has become much more varied in recent years and that it will continue to expand in the coming years. So we look positively into the future and are convinced that we are on the right track.

The boats are pulled out of the water in Berlin with the T5522 from Weidemann. Harbour master Valerian Dahmen: “We are excited about the power of the T5522. It replaces more than just one machine for us.”

After a quick repair on the boat, it can go right back into the water. An idyllic harbour in Berlin.

The Citymarina Berlin-Rummelsburg offers a quiet berth as well as good supply options for boats and ships on the Spree. In addition to supplying the crew in the restaurant or with a hot shower, the company also offers various services for the boat/ship. The harbour master got help from Weidemann for this.

The Citymarina thus offers, for example, the ability to put in the water and take out boats up to 3.5 tonnes using their own trailer ramp. The harbour master Valerian Dahmen and his Weidemann T5522 provide help here for the boat owners. “In the past, we put the boats in the water with a tractor,” explains Valerian Dahmen, “but the starter motor regularly burned out on us because it got wet.” So we finally looked for a suitable alternative to the tractor.

Since Valerian Dahmen knew how to handle telehandlers from previous jobs, he suggested this machine to his boss and then came upon the Weidemann.

“Due to the compact size of the telehandler, my boss at first could not believe that the T5522 provides the power we need,” says the trained boat builder. But he was completely convinced after a demonstration on site. The possibility of receiving the telehandler painted in their own company colours was also a special incentive to buy. And so the Weidemann became a very special image of the company.

The purchase of the Weidemann T5522 also brings additional advantages for the marina: last year, a high-rack warehouse was built to store spare parts, etc. The Hafenküche restaurant and the bus business also belonging to the company use this machine frequently. The telehandler therefore does not only replace the tractor for the trailer ramp, but also makes the forklift superfluous. “We ordered the pallet fork with three prongs. One is always equipped with a ball hitch coupling for manoeuvring the boat trailer.” In the winter, the Weidemann will then also be used during winter service on the grounds.

The Citymarina Berlin-Rummelsburg is located on the grounds of Hafen & Hof. The location is suitable for private, commercial and sports boats, and is well equipped for all needs. Boats up to

3.5 tonnes can be slipped via the trailer ramp. In addition to water for showering and the bathrooms, it is also possible to bring fresh water on board or to dispose of trash water. The berths are equipped with electricity meters. Small repairs can be performed directly on site via a subcontractor.

In addition to private piers, the boat renter is also home to Spree boats in the harbour. The Hafenküche restaurant is located directly on the water, which also does catering for the rental boats. You have an undisturbed view of the Spree from the beer garden.
