However, in my opin- ion all of this is not really the end result of our efforts. I know that many would say that the whole reason that Magic Moments exists is so people with special needs would have more opportuni- ties to perform on stage. Although this is a very noble endeavor, I believe that we actually go much further than this. To me, Magic Mo- ments gives ME the honor of performing on stage along- side people with special needs that truly love bringing these shows to life. As a re- sult, everything that I put into Magic Moments I get back and more. To me, just being a part of something so wonderful is enough. Whether my role is chorus member, featured solo- ist, or lead ~ any contribution that I can make to Magic Mo- ments will be made and with joy and gratitude. Hopefully, someday I will be asked to join the SiDa dancers but I fear that a man of my advanced years has very little chance…. Magic Moments has always

made me look at life a little

    differently. Recently while

    working on grant-writing and

    fundraising I had an epiphany

    about this extraordinary

    organization.

While applying for a grant, I

    was asked how we would

    spend the money we would

    receive and exactly how we

were going to put the funding

to good use. Of course the

easy answer would be that we

    equipment, costumes, sheet

music, and the list goes on

and on. However, in my opin-

ion all of this is not really the

    end result of our efforts.

I know that many would say

    that the whole reason that

    Magic Moments exists is so

    people with special needs

stage. Although this is a very

    noble endeavor, I believe that

    we actually go much further

than this. To me, Magic Mo-

ments gives ME the honor of

    performing on stage along-

    side people with special

    needs that truly love bringing

these shows to life. As a re-

sult, everything that I put into

    Magic Moments I get back

    and more.

To me, just being a part of

The First Mate, who does know

how to sail, tries to solve things

“by the book” even though there

is nothing in the book about the

    Bermuda Triangle. The Cruise

Director, who does not know how

to sail, says thinking “outside the

box” is the only way to save the

ship. Everyone has an idea so

this show is littered with solos.

    The solutions range from throw-

ing a “Message In A Bottle” to

tapping out a rescue message in

    Morse code. Pirates invade but

they don’t do much. Only a joint

    . . . and now a Word from KQ

Golf Tournament On Saturday, September 9th Magic Moments held the first ever golf fundraiser.

The event hosted 66 players and everyone had a great time! It was a very successful fundraiser

and will be done again next year so keep your eyes peeled if you’re a golfer!

The winning team was Stephen Bradford’s, which included

Steve Bradford, Frank Andrade, Stephen Gibbons, and Andrew Layton.

Many thanks to Willis Case golf course for hosting the event,

and to Jason Spillman and Shawn Dominguez for helping organize.

    Hello from Physical Therapy.

I have a new knee now but am

having trouble using it. I hear

things will improve so that gives

    me a goal.

As for the show - it’s our 35th you

know - it’s shaping up to be one

our best ever. Based on our own

    Marti Sullivan’s idea, a “Love

Boat” type cruise ship gets lost

    in the Bermuda Triangle, the

    Captain disappears, supplies run

low, and all these crazy things

    keep happening. Elvis shows up,

as well as the crew from Flight

19, an alien or two, and even

    Amelia Earhart.

effort will save the ship. This

    being Magic Moments, that’s

what we do. Between the food

riots “Eat It” and dancing for dis-

    traction “Better When I’m Danc-

ing”, an adventure is sure to be

    had by all.

With Love and Coffee and Donuts,

    ~ KQ
