Magicbird Publishing Wisdom for Children Club Philosophy is not high octane stuff. Children can and should benefit from philosophy and its association with values and human relationships. We go into schools, communities centres, kindergartens – to read from selected One for One Books and discuss with children issues raised in the selected book. It embodies the spirit that each book opens out to different worlds and young readers and children should step into them and learn about themselves and relationships in the process. "The over-whelming bulk of the rest of so- called children's literature attempts to entertain or to inform or both. But most of these books are so shallow in substance that little of significance can be gained from them. The acquisition of skills, including the ability to read, becomes devalued when what one has learned to read adds nothing of importance to one's life" Bruno Bettelheim in "The Uses of Enchantment". Available Books Kailash is a story about a little Zebra who gets displaced from his home and has to learn to fit in with a stable full of horses. It teaches about compassion, understanding and highlights on refugee issues Who am I” is a story in poem form about a little homeless girl surviving without shelter food education and medical treatment but always has a little bit of hope in her pockets Do Noses Grow” explores the irony of using a lie to reinforce the universal value of truthfulness One for One Books The first publishing line under Magicbird Publishing is One for One Books.
