GENERAL MANAGERS REPORT

The weather is again hampering sporting activity on the fields, with Farleigh Magpies Cricket denied their first meet this year. A bit of sunshine will put us back on track, and I think the Mackay district can be thankful that it has not had to endure the heartache currently being experience by areas like Rockhampton and Toowoomba. All our hearts are with the people of those communities currently battling the recent flooding.

I hope to see everybody here soon at Magpies!

Hello, and welcome to the January edition of Magpies Sporting Club’s ‘ClubMag’. Happy New Year to all, and I hope that everyone’s holiday season has been fruitful. This will be a very exciting 12 months for Magpies – our new function rooms will open at the end of January, and all being well, work will start on the new gaming room in April. This extension will see a larger seating area for the Hub Café, as well as an extra 60 gaming machines, taking our total to 200. Magpies Sporting Club will become the benchmark venue for the region!

Australia Day is shaping up to be a fantastic day here at Magpies. The HARLEY DAVIDSON will be drawn – along with a host of other fantastic prizes. 4MK’s Hammo will be here all

day to host the event, there’s a jumping castle and face painting for the kids, live entertainment in the afternoon, as well as the Magpies Australia Day Affiliate Challenge – a chance for our sponsored clubs to compete against each other in some hilarious events!! This will be a fun day for all, and I wish everyone the best of luck in the competition. Remember – the HARLEY DAVIDSON is drawn at 2pm, and you MUST be here to WIN!

The 2011 Centro menu will be out toward the end of this month. We have had a change of head chef, and our new recruit is eager to put his own flair on the menu. I look forward to his expertise in Centro, the Hub Café, and our brand new function rooms.
