Magswitch lifting magnets

How do you select a lifting magnet? A safety factor has to be taken into account when picking up loads with a magnet. This depends on the risk assessment. If it is absolutely impossible for people to be affected when the load falls out, then factor 2 suffices. If there is a risk of human injury, a safety factor of 3 is recommended.

Magswitch lifting magnets are suitable for lifting or securing steel products. Then you can lift, manipulate or rotate them without using power. The Magswitch technology is a patented technology where the magnets are twisted relative to each other. This allows the magnet to be turned on and off.Because of the great adhesive force and the absence of a magnetic field at switch-off, they can be used for many applications. In the table on page 3 you will find the break-off force. This is measured on a smooth steel plate with a thickness of at least 4 mm. The actual break-off force depends on many factors and is determined in consultation, but the table gives you an indication of the possibilities.

The series Magsquare is toggled manually. The series AR uses a pneumatic rotary cylinder and can be used in a fully automatically controlled process. The Magswitch is excellent for handling steel objects with a thickness > 4 mm. For thinner plates Goudsmit advises to use the magnetic gripper.

Each magnet has a measured maximum break-off force. When the break-off force is 4500 N, then the max. load can amount to 2250 N with a safety factor 2 and 1500 N with a safety factor 3. The specified break-off force has been measured for an ideal situation. If the contact with the magnet is not as good, for example, because the surface is not flat, or due to the presence of rust, then the break-off force will be lower.A Magswitch of ø 50 mm is ideal for lifting steel parts of a thickness of up to about 20 mm. The Magswitch with a diameter of 70 mm has reached its maximum holding strength at a steel thickness of 40 mm.

AdvantagesThe Magswitch is ideal for handling steel plates thicker than 6 mm and is mostly applied to these. The maximum lifting force of the Magswitch at this sheet thickness is many times higher than that of Chinese systems. In addition, a lot of attention has been paid to user friendliness. For example, the weight is very low, so that positioning is easier. Due to the patented switching technology, the Magswitch can also be easily switched on and off on thinner sheets. Little force is needed for this. Because you can lift both horizontally and vertically, the Magswitch works faster and more efficiently.

Magswitch, manually switched Magsquare / MLAYThe Magswitch series MLAY (lifting magnet) is perfect for heavier loads and ideal for lifting thicker sheets. This lifting magnet is provided with a fully rotatable handle for the top-lifting from the side. The magnet can be manually switched on and off. As an additional safety, a lock has been added to prevent unwanted switching on and off. The magnet is equipped with a standard pole shoe, but these are interchangeable for either flat or round shapes.

Series Magsquare (Magswitch with fixing system) is perfect as a fixing magnet. This is comparable with the MLAY series, but without the hoisting bracket.

The indicated lifting power is for ideal circumstances. The maximum allowable lifting power is dependent on the risk assessment, but must contain at least a safety factor of 2.

Magswitch electric switched, with remote control E50 The Magswitch series E50 is built up with two or three modules Magsquare to obtain a high lifting capacity. We can electrically switch the magnets on and off by using a remote control. Due to this the operator can lift the load from a distance. The easiest and safest lifting magnet. No time-consuming set-ups.

Magswitch Magnet pneumatic switched series ARThe Magswitch magnet AR (pneumatic switched) is designed the same as the series MLAY, only the magnets are not switched manually but by using a pneumatic cylinder. This makes it extremely suitable for use in fully automated processes. Break-off force and advised load: see table on previous page.

The Magswitch series MLAY and E50 are ideal for the fast and sure grasping, holding and releasing of ferromagnetic work pieces. Advised work load: 265 N.
