Anita Gupta In our journey of life we come across a few people who touch our lives and leave an indelible imprint. They belong to that rare breed of humanity who are unfailingly caring and compassionate. Mrs. Anita whom we have lost recently, was one such fine human being. We profoundly mourn her sudden and untimely demise, our beloved Asst. Primary Incharge whose affable presence had endeared her to one and all. A devoted, diligent worker, she dedicated her life in service to the institute and worked tirelessly for its upliftment unceasingly for 23 years. She worked selflessly, never availing leave even if ill, when there was a task to be completed at school. What set Anita Ma’m apart from the rest was her insatiable thirst for learning. Whether it was her post-graduation or learning to drive, she plunged herself headlong into it with her heart and soul. Truly, for her there was no age bar for learning. She surely believed in learning by doing! Instead of just getting the work done, she would insist on learning the ropes, striving to fulfill her own high expectations of herself. Highly disciplined, she had the utmost respect for school authorities especially which belied her passion and zest for living. Competent and efficient, quite surprisingly, she never lost the human touch. She would just be there for everyone, enquiring after your or your family’s health and even going out of her way to help others. Her equation with students was no different. She was affectionate and a teacher who gave her best always. She has taught hundreds and thousands of students who have been affected by her benign presence, owe her a lot and will miss her sorely. Infact , it will be hard to forget this gentle woman with nerves of steel, who spent every moment of her life serving the school to the best of her ability. She may not be with us anymore, but her values, beliefs and ideals will continue to inspire our thoughts and actions. deeply mourned by MAPS Parivar www.mapsashokvihar.net | e-mail : [email protected] (1961 - 2013)

“There is no chance, no destiny, no fate, that can hinder or control the firm resolve of a determined soul. To accomplish great things, we must not only act, but also dream, not only plan, but also believe.”

MAPS is all about EDUCATION, ENJOYMENT, EXPLORATON and EXCELLENCE. It is one of the very few schools in India that have been given the Recognition of CBSE i. The CBSE-i curriculum has been initiated in Classes I – III in the school this year to begin with a journey to a new wonderful world where children meet the challenges of the present and the future and learn to cope with them with full expertise .A stress-free learning is provided that develops competent, confident and enterprising citizens who will engender EXCELLENCE in every sphere of human endeavour. Various meaningful activities are organized that are a part of the curriculum .Children learn different concepts while performing these activities in and outside the classroom scenario. CBSE-i is a response to the need to create schools which are futuristic. It gives a direction to move to an enquiry based skills approach in which teachers and students engage in collaborative learning . CBSE-i involves in creating students who raise questions, think, reflect, analyze, interpret, experience, research and create knowledge.

Social Empowerment through work and action (SEWA PROJECT ) SEWA is an integral requirement for CBSE-i. classes I-XII will be a part of community service program every year. The objective of this programme is to underline significance of the interdependence of all human beings in this global village. Students should acknowledge that they have a responsibility towards the less privileged, the disadvantaged as well as the differently- abled. The principle of giving to society has to become second nature to them. The student’s Portfolio/Dossier captures and documents evidence that reflects the impact of the learning on the students at the end of the year. Under this Project , our students from classes I-III, spread awareness among students by visiting classes with Placards baring slogans on Cleanliness. On every Day 4 and Day 5 students enthusiastically volunteer to take the responsibility to check the cleanliness near canteen, playground and courtyard area in the school.

Gaining knowledge through observation and experience is one of the basic learning principle of CBSE i Curriculum. The students cashed the opportunity to learn about Animals by watching and

observing them in the National Zoological Park, Delhi . . The open learning atmosphere added to everlasting memories of our inquisitive learners who curiously added knowledge to their lives by watching animals taking shape in fur and feathers.

Looking forward to many such exciting experiences!!!

Going ahead and growing strongly… Our International Students!!!

A Few curriculum related activities conducted CBSE-i classes are as follows : *Show and Tell Story, Telling Picture Description

The 67th Independence Day was observed with great passion and patriotic fervor in the school premises. Sh.Pawan Gupta (President AWS) unfurled the tricolor followed by the National Anthem which enthused patriotism in one and all. The students presented a multi-hued cultural programme, a tribute to our national heroes through dramatic presentation of the great literary “Anand Math”. A Nukkad Natak showcasing the role of democracy was appreciated by everyone. Ashish Sharma (Class VI) sang the old-time favourite ‘Mera rang de basanti chola’ and stole the hearts of all. This young maestro’s rendition gained him a pat on his back by the worthy members of the management. Packets of sweets were distributed to all as part of the celebration. The school was beautifully decorated with the three colours of the flag to add to the spirit. The day ended with the sagacious words of Sh. Pawan Gupta ji highlighting the importance of this day. The vote of thanks was proposed by Sh.Nand Kishore Aggarwal (Chairman MAPS) who urged the children to carry the flame of Independent India to great heights with their hard work, devotion and integrity.
