-Leon trotsky was born in Yanovka, Russia, on 7th November, 1879.

-Trotsky arrived back in Russia from America, in may 1917 and Alexander Kerensky, then realized that Trotsky was a major threat to his government and had him arrested. -After the october revolution which Boleviks took control of Russia, Vladimir Lenin appointed Trotsky as the people's commissar for foreign affairs.-The Red Army had to be established quickly as it was needed to fight the White Army during the Civil War. - An outstanding military commander, Trotsky led his five million man army to victory and in doing so ensured the survival of the Bolshevik government.

Trotsky's main hope of gaining power was for Lenin's last testament to be published. But Lenin died before he could take action.

Stalin-Joseph Stalin, was born in Gori, Georgia on 21st

December, 1879.-In November, 1917, Lenin rewarded Stalin for his support of the October Revolution by appointing him Commissar of Nationalities. -Stalin supported Lenin's policy. His view was that as long as there was only a one party state, the government could allow the introduction of small-scale private enterprise.

-At the Party Conference in April, 1922, Lenin suggested that a new post of General Secretary should be created. Lenin's choice for the post was Stalin, who in the past had always loyally supported his policies.

Nikolai Ivanovitch Bukharin was born in Moscow on September 27, 1888

His parents were very cultured and devoted lots of time to the boy’s education, and as a result Bukharin became the most intellectual and broadly educated of the Bolshevik political leaders.

He completed his education and familiarized himself with western languages and theoretical literature. By 1917 he was able to speak and read German, French, and English.

In the early 1920s, Bukharin became the leader of NEP.

Although Bukharin and Lenin were often in disagreement over how Marx’s socialist system was to be put into practice, among many other things, the two began a strong relationship and had respect for each other.
