City of Little Canada Rain Garden Maintenance – General Task Checklist

RWMWD – January 2013

A maintenance log form will be filled out and submitted by the maintenance contractor to the RWMWD after each site visit. (RWMWD to provide form)

Additional tasks or guidance may be provided by RWMWD staff, depending on prevailing site conditions.

May Visit:

1. Remove accumulated sediment in inlets, outlets, bottom of basins, and pretreatment areas.

2. Remove all garbage and leaves.

3. Cut down last year’s growth of perennial forbs and grasses. Collect and bag all cut material.

4. Hand pull and/or treat all annual and perennial weeds.

5. Report any eroded areas or evidence of prolonged standing water to RWMWD staff and seek guidance for repairs.

6. Replace dead or diseased plants as directed by RWMWD staff.

7. Interplant amongst existing native plants to achieve approximately 1.5’ spacing as directed by RWMWD staff.

8. Replenish shredded hardwood mulch to a thickness of 2” in open areas around plants.

9. Repair any erosion issues or damaged inlet/outlet structures if possible. June Visit:

1. Check for sediment accumulation, missing mulch, eroded areas, and dead plants. Contact

RWMWD staff with any issues or concerns.

2. Pick up garbage.

3. Hand pull and/or treat all annual and perennial weeds. August Visit:
