Letter from European & UK Director
I’m delighted to introduce you to Animals Asia, a progressive, dynamic and global organisation
making great advances in animal welfare predominantly in China and Vietnam, but with reach
across Asia. If you are looking for a career move that will enable you to play a key role in
creating significant, lasting change you will be excited about working here.
In 1998, we set out with a primary goal of ending bear bile farming – a horrific trade that is
arguably the world’s cruelest form of animal abuse. Last year, the Vietnamese Government
announced its partnership with Animals Asia to bring this to an end by 2022 and we are now
working on the exit strategy. There has never been a more exciting time to join the team and be
part of this historic, rewarding journey. We are also at the forefront of ending the cat and dog
meat trade and ending the use of animals in performances across Asia.
Our fundraising team is equally progressive and exciting. Filled with talented, passionate and
dedicated people we have the ambition to match our potential and have been growing steadily
since 2012 – doubling income from £1.1m to £2.2m in 2017. But this is still only the tip of the
iceberg – we could do so much more by investing in the right people who can make it happen.
We have a vast network of loyal, generous major donors who are already deeply invested in the
charity yet, with the right support, their experience and contributions could be transformational.
Current annual income from HNWIS is already between £500k and £1m. We have created this
new role as an opportunity for somebody to create that special donor journey and with it, a
chance to work with a motivated donor pool to make their mark in a growing team. You will
also manage our new, highly skilled and driven Trust and Grants Fundraiser.
You will love Major Donor fundraising as much as you love animals – and your track record of
great results will demonstrate that. As this role is home based, you will need to be one of life’s
natural go-getters, full of drive, initiative and hunger. Your confident, sociable personality will
enable you to make relationships easily and your experience will help showcase your well-honed
diplomacy and negotiation skills.
If you are keen to join the Animals Asia family and be part of this inspirational journey, I look
forward to hearing from you.
Warmly,
Jo Dunsford European and UK Director
