Make a Wild Rainbow
Rules for collecting;
Only pick where there is plenty. If
you can see less than five of a flower
then leave them alone.
Only pick one petal or leaf from each
plant, NOT the whole flower. This
means that rest can still grow.
If you are picking in a garden ask for
permission first.
Watch out for prickles and stings.
Picking with just you fingertips will
ive you a chance to test first and also
make sure you don’t pick too much.
Only collect plants, do not stick any
bugs to your rainbow, however
colourful they are!
Do not put anything near you mouth
and ALWAYS wash your hands
when you have finished.
1. Get out into your garden or
local green space and look for
examples of natural things in all
the colours of the rainbow. Make
sure you follow the rules for
collecting.
2. Sort your collection
into different colours.
3. Draw a semi-circle on
a piece of paper. This
will help you to make the
rainbow shape.
4. Spread glue over your semi-circle and stick tiny pieces of your red
coloured objects down. When your red layer is complete spread another
semicircle of glue inside the first and stick down your orange pieces.
Continue with the other colours until you have a complete rainbow.
5. To enter our competition to win a £20 Nene Outdoors voucher, take a
photo of your rainbow picture and sent it to us at

Why not add a background to your rainbow picture.
You could draw in you favourite view or an imaginary
landscape.
If the weather is dry and not too windy there is no need
to even go indoors. Make your rainbow by placing
objects on the floor outside and leave it for someone to
