MIKE Dear Prince of Peace Parish Community. I extend to all of you a great big thank you for the words of congratulations and the most generous gifts that I received during the celebration of my 25th anniversary of Priestly Ordination. Your love and generosi- ty were frankly overwhelming. I was so happy to celebrate my anniversary at this parish. You are a most generous community in your giving, volunteering and support of the hard work of our Pastor, Fr. Lorenzo and the entire parish staff. May God pour out his abundant blessings upon all of you. LOVE AND BLESSINGS Fr. Mike "Make my heart like yours, dear Jesus." Pope Francis has often noted that the first words of God to the human family are from this pas- sage where God asks Adam, "Where are you?" Francis sug- gests that it is a good question for us today. Where do we find ourselves today? What is the situation around us? What is our purpose? What is our relation- ship with others? What is it we are being called to be and to do? Paul reminds the Corinthians that we are not discouraged be- cause the resurrection of Jesus has already given us new life and "our inner self is being renewed day by day." The good news is what gives us hope and courage. Our faith is what allows us to be bold and to live our lives for others without holding back. In the gospel, Jesus is being accused of driving out demons because he's in league with evil. It is outrageous, but it does show how some religious people rebelled against him. When his relatives come to be with him, Jesus makes it clear that the deepest bond he has with his brothers and sisters is that we are faithful. Religious practice or authority, and certainly not only a relationship with him, makes us holy. Mark makes the point clearly: "And looking around at those seated in the circle he said, 'Here are my mother and my brothers. [For] whoever does the will of God is my brother and sister and mother.'" Real intimacy with Jesus is about com- munion with him, in fidelity, in following his example. Intimacy happens when our heart becomes more like his and we are draw to a fidelity to the Father and the Father's way. We can ask for the grace, "Make my heart like yours, dear Jesus." A GREAT BIG THANK YOU FROM FR. MIKE

Dear Prince of Peace Parish Community.

I extend to all of you a great big thank

you for the words of congratulations and

the most generous gifts that I received during the celebration of my

25th anniversary of Priestly Ordination. Your love and generosi-

ty were frankly overwhelming. I was so happy to celebrate my

anniversary at this parish. You are a most generous community

his abundant blessings upon all of you. LOVE AND BLESSINGS Fr. Mike

"Make my heart like yours, dear Jesus."

Pope Francis has often noted that the first words of God to the human family are from this pas-sage where God asks Adam, "Where are you?" Francis sug-gests that it is a good question for us today. Where do we find ourselves today? What is the situation around us? What is our purpose? What is our relation-ship with others? What is it we are being called to be and to do?

Paul reminds the Corinthians that we are not discouraged be-cause the resurrection of Jesus has already given us new life

and "our inner self is being renewed day by day." The good news is what gives us hope and courage. Our faith is what allows us to be bold and to live our lives for others without holding back. CANADA SUMMER JOBS PROGRAM Thousands of charitable organizations are being denied funding through the Canada Summer Jobs program. To qualify for funding organizations must agree with the Liberal Government on issues such as abortion and gender expression. This has impacted more than 150 jobs and more than $1 million in funding in the Archdiocese of Toronto alone. Across Canada 1,500 groups had their applications

rejected his year vs 126 in 2017. Cardinal Collins invites you to write to your federal Member of Parlia-ment to respectfully express your concerns. Visit www.savesummerjobs.ca to send a message to your MP, a process that will take less than 3 minutes. Many parishes in the archdiocese are holding collections to support the local groups denied funding this year. At Prince of Peace a second collection is planned for the weekend of June 23-24.to support those organizations impacted by the new appli-cation guidelines.
